BIG UPS to whoever took the time to dig this out and post it. I've been trying to find a copy of this for almost 20 years. Brings back a lot of memories. BROWN 25 lmao!
One of the best skits on that movie! I just watched again with my fiancee, and all I have to say is, if you can find a girl who can laugh with you while watching The Groove Tube, keep her! I'm keeping her...
Sure, the comedy is base, and some of the jokes take way too long to get to the punchline, but it's still fun to watch with the right people in the room.
I first saw this movie in 1977 in a double feature with Flesh Gordon, and I was BAKED!
The Groove Tube was a sketch comedy film written, produced, and directed by Ken Shapiro, who played most of the parts, and even sang a song, and yet he never did much of anything else that I know of. Even checked his IMDB page.
Someone should put this to our current politics..And play it backwards..It would make more sence that the daily political news bs...Amd I must add GROOVE TUBE was one of the funniest movies ever..

may i ask someone what groove tube is apparently if you seen it over twenty years ago i wasnt born to watch it hehe. is it s movie with random comedy clips or what?
I found it an obscure video store about 20 years ago. It stars a young Chevy Chase(!) and it's basically a set of random sketches similar to the Kentucky Fried Movie that was released later in the 70's. GSearch for Brown 25 from Uranus Corp - Where things come out a little differently...
sorry - the "mumbles" clip was from well after the 1972 campaign. it is an excerpt from the senate watergate committee hearings in 1973 - 1974, centered upon the testimony of john dean, and which ultimately resulted in the bombshell disclosure of nixon's white house tapes.
By the way, kids, these where the congressional Watergate hearings. They were all over the TV during the summer of '74... Or was it '73? I know that Nixon resigned in 74.
Are the sex olympics still part of this movie or have they been omitted.
If they have its a shame as they were the best part of this movie in my opinion.

In essence, this WAS Watergate -- or might as well have been. Shapiro & Clark Terry got it right....

What is the point of having this clip without the audio? The scat soundtrack was the whole point of the joke.

not too many people remember that fred dalton thompson was counsel to the minority. you can see him to the left of howard baker at 0:49.

Politics was more fun when at least some of the Democrats were southerners.

73 I remember them well. I wish I could have heard John Dean's 7 hour opening statement,
it was quite outrageous.
