  • flawless, this vid is awsome and so is RUSH!!!!!!!

  • Great playing, great tone, I love it!

  • @guitarkis49 ....thanks v much!

  • Nice,THX. I can learn a few things from this. Check my cover if ya like.

  • @badback22 ....thanks. Will do.

  • This is very nice, especially the sound!! Good job!!

Is this guitar 100% acoustic or is it one of those electroacoustic ones?

I'm wondering if this great sound was achieved by the guitar alone (that would be way too cool), because it almost sounds like there's chorus and reverb or something like that in there somewhere.

  • @MagellanOfBass ...yep, you got it! Its a Washburn electro thing with a bit of chorus.

  • Very GOOD, The sound is close also

  • Really nice Tone!

  • @SantaPillsBerry ...yes, I was pleased with it myself.

  • great job. what tuning is this

  • @fatface143 ....standard.

  • Sweet!!!! I play bass, but if I played guitar the only band's songs I would want to play would be Rush.

    Great playing.

  • @1dgkonig ....cheers! I appreciate the feedback.

  • WOW! NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @spiderbutt3 ...cheers!

  • That is the best freaking sound i have ever heard from an acoustic, is it being run through an amplifier or is it the sound recorded by the camera.

  • @Broons2112Bane ....Cheers for that......yeah, I warmed the tone up thru an amp.

  • Excellent man... I've been playing that last part wrong since 1979! You nailed it.

  • @kevorkazito ...thanks, glad it helped you, don't know its right though??

  • @seveertrebor I looked at the original video and you did get it right. I did buy those lessons that Lifeson did to show: Tom Sawyer, Limelight, and Spirit of Radio. When you see those it makes you rethink how you figured out the other songs. I went back and relearned Hemispheres after reflecting on that. Lifeson says himself that all he is doing somethings is just flicking a finger here and there. His style goes beyond pastiche; it's pure mastery. Thanks again!

  • @kevorkazito ...yep, he is a complete one off!!! Its amazing the stuff he comes up with, but I suppose thats the trademark of a genius....and to have three in one band is what makes Rush so special (and there nice guys aswell!!!).

  • reminds me of the trees...lol

  • @PeeceSells ....yeah, same feel and tempo.

  • The sound quality from your Washburn is just plain @wsome! (very clean) Many yrs. ago I had one of those 2 page songs books and BB (chords and music) was on the back of it as a bonus song.... wish I had it! Tab just isn't as good.

  • @1manwithstick .....thanks, yeah they are solid guitars.

  • nice job.

  • Again...Wow! Beautiful. Keep 'em coming!!!

  • .....thanks v. much!

  • Alex is the most under rated classic rock guitarist out there. He is a true musician, skilled and humble..

    Great job.

  • .......couldn't agree more!

  • very well played, what washburn is it? which strings are you using ?

  • Hi...its a C64SCE, not sure which strings, as I have sold it now.

  • i have a great love of Alex's acoustic works, and yours are the videos i watch when i try and learn these, as your playing is perfect. well done! and i wish i had a guitar that sounds as good as yours :)

  • ..thanks for the kind words!

  • great work ....

  • Woah nice work on that intro =D

  • Wow! That was excellent. Keep posting!

  • Wow... I rarely get shivers when I listen to a song cover but I have to tell you that I really enjoyed yours.... Thumbs up man!

  • Amazing I can see you spent alot of time on all your songs, and that you have the confidence to turn down the drums and bass and play loud. Great music rush are the best !!!

  • glad it helped you out...cheers

  • Outstanding!

  • cheers mate

  • Very, very nice!

I love the live version of this song, which is way more complex than the original (album).. and way nicer. And you got it. Congrats!

  • Hey, thanks for that....its a beautiful piece

  • Very nice!

Hey 3eyedho, leave your comments to yourself and yes you're a dork!

  • Sorry. Not trying to be a dork, but wrong all over the place!

  • It doesn't have to be perfect, besides not many people can come close to playing the intro. ..........Amazing job Seveertrebor!!

  • cheers for that.....some people seem to expect an exact copy, even AL plays things diff live.

  • Once again, the 77'Rush sound to a tee. Once again, another prophetic Rush tune that spurs thought.

  • vey nice, lifeson from the wrist down, u r the best rush cover person on u tube, do something in a kimono lol

  • cheers...I will have to get my wife to run something up!

  • Robert, you are an excellent guitar player and you do an amazing job covering these Rush tunes but as good as AFTK sounds, you are off on a couple of parts.

I am pretty sure you realize this and I am not trying to be a "hater". :) I've just heard that song a bazillion times and recognize that its off a bit on some notes.

  • ...yeah i know, i dont try and play note for note otherwise i would never do anything else.

  • Fantastic! Great job!

  • cheers

  • Very good cover, sir.

This is one of my favorite Rush pieces.

  • My hat is off to you. Very nicely done.

  • My mind was just flying on...

    ~Al Biss

  • are you playing on an electric classical? ^_-

  • you are a rush guitar god

  • i would like to see you play the whole song it's one of their best

  • i really like to play this intro =(

  • jesus christ, you're amazing.

  • that was great man, I really love your covers. It's obvious you really cares about the music abd there's not too many people like that left. If it's not too much trouble can you post the tabs. Can't wait to hear your next cover :D

  • thanks...sorry dont have tabs for this, just picked it up by ear.

  • same

  • I agree. I kind of blame guitar hero!

  • can you play the whole song?

  • never tried, but will one day

  • i'll be looking forward to it :D

  • where did you learn that

  • ..just by ear

  • I love the intro to this song and you captured it perfectly

  • Nice job. Are you wearing picks on your fingers or do you have longer nails on the fingers needed?

  • ....finger nails

  • Very beautiful and well played. I'm working on this one myself and it's a very underrated song if you ask me. (sorry if this got posted twice)

  • ...yeah, i really love the whole of the AFTK album.

  • Well played. I don't like that effect you use though. Play it with just the guitar's sound. It doesn't need any effects.

  • Oh i get it...robert reeves backwards.

    nice work on the song.

  • Very nice Robert,I'm working on that one now. Good Job.

  • friggen brilliant!!! would love to hear you play "cinderella man!"

  • yep...must get round to that, great song

  • That was great

  • That was awesome! Did you learn that by ear or tap or sheet music? I'm still trying to learn this song.

  • thanks...did this one by ear and watching AL play it.

  • How long have you been playing? I've only been playing for two years but I practice alot and am pretty good.

  • Messed about since i was in my teens....but i seriously started about 3 yrs ago after buying some decent gear.

  • Very Impressive!

  • Very Nice and the effects are good !

  • Thank you for posting this. Xanadu is a fabulous song and the intro is just beyong gorgeous. Fabulous playing friend...

  • appreciate it

  • that was freaking glorious.

  • yeah

  • that was great... I used to play this intro a lot on my guitar too, I'll try to make a video and put as a response to yours, just to get your feedback, because I see you are a great player!

  • thanks for commenting...looking forward to seeing your version.

  • I put a version under this nickname (epleite1000). I don't put as a response to yours, just to avoid comparison (lol).

  • really good - bravo

  • Excellent technique, I wouldn't take it so fast though... Also, I dunno if the effect really adds much. That's a fun lick isn't it?

  • Are you for real? That was freakin awesome!

  • per fect

  • Excellent job indeed! I wish we could jam it out together.I'm a bass player but I would love to learn it, if you would put it on youtube in lesson form! Check out my Rush vids as well as "ultimoguitarist" keep up the good work:)

  • great job i always have trouble with this one, are you catching rush on the uk tour?

  • Thanks, yes at NEC Birmingham.

  • Really enjoying your acoustic Rush tunes. I'm hoping you can post some more! I've got my ticket for the Glasgow show but I'd be suprised if Alex does any acoustic ones.

  • Yes, going to do Rivendell soon.

  • Man..the corretc notes are:

    D- C#-E-D-B-E(low)-G#..............

  • OK....if you say so, just how it sounds to me.

  • fernando, what r u talking about dude. poser.

  • Wow! Alex Lifeson would be impressed. I'm learning Passage To Bangkok on drums right now. Peart throws in some crazy fills so the song is very very very very HARD. At least for a beginning drummer that is.

  • Hey thanks!..Great thing about Rush, its always a challenge, are you putting it You Tube when your done??

  • I might. I'm on the same part of the song I was on 2 weeks ago.

  • Wow I know all rsh songs except one. this one because there are so much Guitar placed in the 1 song. With all your videos and your hands I think anyone can learn off of you. You should make a teaching video!

  • Hey...not a bad idea! Wonder if there is any demand from wannabe Rush guitarists??

  • Magnificent work! The intro of A Farewell to Kings is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

  • Thanks....agree, and yet it is so simple!!

  • Great job!

  • You are amazing! I wish I could play that well! Rock on.

  • Hey thanks...sure helps to have a nice classical guitar (birthday present to myself!!).

  • I know what you mean. You should try Broon's Bane. It's a pretty sweet tune and very fun to play :D

  • See my other videos for Broons Bane....petty Alex doesn't cover this anymore in the live shows.

  • Good job man.. The choice to add a "chorus/flanger" effect on the classical guitar is rather interesting, though may appear blaspheme to classical guitarists like me.. ;)

  • line 6, hm?

well this surely allows you to make interesting things :)

  • Sounds like there is Phaser or Flanger effect... but on a classical guitar!? I´m confused.

  • Well spotted...playing through my Flextone III, with a small tweak on the flanger.I was trying to enhance the warmth of my Washburn C64SCE.

  • Great job on this song. I really want to learn this on my classical guitar. I can play Tears and Different Strings though.. Again thanks!

  • Thanks....if you can play those, hopefully you should pick up FTK soon. Cheers.
