@Zejex I agree, however not everyone has or knows how to play guitar, and it's also quite useful for laying down temporary guitar before you record real audio. I myself don't ever use Slayer, but it's still a cool little VST.
i just uploaded a metal track i made ages ago with fl slayer. i have other plugins now and other, better produced tracks but i wanted to show it for comparison. it's the newest vid on my page if anyone wants to hear it.
@pyr666 Well I'm on my second university degree on this now, but basically all you need to do is have patience and approach the problem with patience rather than quitting the moment it sounds bad and saying "oh I need another VST". The point of this video really is to showcase that you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a decent sound, because all the different products out there do all the same things, but people really only buy them because they want to be given some presets.
@pyr666 Once you've got the basic ideas behind synthesis and MIDI, it won't take you long to understand how to use basically any plug-in and be creative. The main thing I want to stress is don't expect to always be given good sounding settings out of the box.
you my man, are a god send! lol i have been trying to figure out how to do the damn guitar crunch for idk how long! thanks alot, awesome video and very very helpful! thanks again for uploading!
thx brother...good vid,,,please make more....just got the producer edition today....the possibilities are mindblowing. that riff u threw together would have worked in the rip off. how funny you did the laugh..I understand the feeling...this shit is powerful indeed.
Thanks for the video. I wonder if it's possible to convincingly emulate sweet Gilmour-esque vibrato and tremolo bar effects, reverse stringbends, etc., with FL Slayer?
This is probably just me, but first time i opened up FL Slayer it sounded awesome, and it sounds realisitic to me. Atleast for being generated on a computer. Good vid :)
So let's say I want a lead guitar in a song, but I honestly can't make Slayer sound good enough. Tips on other VSTis or should I just give up on the whole guitar thing?
@Redstealth503 That's true, but in the right setting you can mask it behind other things, and people won't ask questions. I wouldn't use it to replace lead guitar in a song, of course.
I use FL 9 and yesterday i started making an instrumental an I was able to move all the single "blocks" in piano roll however i wanted to - i was able to set them between two of the vertical lines but now i can only set them right on those lines...difficult to explain...anyone knows what changed?
@NowhereBeats thanks for your advice but i configured it myself already...i dont know how exactly i did that but if it changes again i will try your way :)
@metabog Well by Djent... i guess I mean Dubstep because they both have that "digital piercing" sound to them, with really juicy digital bass. I know what you mean hating those bands, thats why I just listen to instrumental Djent. Buttersnips by Bulb is pretty cool
very nice!i was about to quit fl studio but after this vid...fckin amazing!Oh..and one more thing. Can u tell me what kind of drums plugin are you using cuz flc sounds a bit off. Tnx for the video!
Ok i'm kind of new to FL slayer, (Or more so the program at this point) but Every vid I lookat, I see this plugin or effect thing that they al ways use. I was wondering what it was or if it effects the quality of the project. At the begining of your vid, whch was majorly helpful, :) Its behind the first FL Slayer you have open, right underneath it. What is that? :\
@LyripsBeatzOfficial Can you please define what it means for a VST plugin to be "low quality"? Slayer is a top notch Karplus-Strong-based plugin based on years of research into physical modeling. It has controls for every parameter and avoids almost all the pitfalls of the KS algorithm, and, to top that, it even includes a good quality Amp and Cabinet simulator. I think you are taking the technology for granted. It's only going to sound as good as you can make it sound.
@metabog FL SLAYER HAS CLICKS ON BIGINING OF ITS EVERY SOUND,,,,LOW QUALITY ,,MEANS ITS NOT REALISTIC GUITAR VST..ITS THE SAME WITH FL KEYS...THE NOTES ARENT GOOD ...AND THE VIBRATIONS OF THE SOUNDS ARE NOT GOOD,,,,THATS WHAT I MENT BY SAYING "LOW QUALITY" BUT THE TUTORIAL IT SELF IS GOOD
@metabog It's like what you said went right over his head, huh? xD I happen to use Slayer myself and plan to get better at it, so thanks for the tutorial! Mixing in choirs and the guitars together are always too fun to do. *w*
@MrJohnHoHoHo I don't know what the deal is with Expertvillage, but I haven't seen a single helpful vid, and often times they just give bad advice. There's nothing to qualify those people as experts, since there's never any background to them. It's like they just get random people.

By the way, is it possible to make Slayer sound like the guitar played at the beginning of X japan song Kurenai, if it is, could you please make a tutorial. Thanks

I'm trying to make Guilty Gear/BlazBlue style music, yet am struggling to find a good program without having to rely on Slayer.
But if push comes to shove, how would I go about making that style using Slayer?

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Sk8MeTheHorizon 7 months ago
@Sk8MeTheHorizon
Maybe this will work.
On piano roll in the top left corner there is what looks like an upside down magnet which is on the right of an icon of a spanner
If you hover over the upside down magnet you will see it is called Snap To Grid
Click on it and select (none)
This will allow you to place the blocks any where on piano roll
Let me know if that is what you wanted help with ???
