  • Just a quick comment on this Video, its nice to hear this piece and i enjoyed your performance. It's nice to see your enjoying the music too. May i ask how many years you have been playing? Regards.

  • I began playing when I was ~6 six years old, but had no formal lessons after I was ~14.

  • wow, thats nice to hear. I think i began when i was seven years old, im now 15 and i havent yet had formal training for piano although i do play and have training for the Trumpet. Thanks for the reply, hopefuly see more videos from you soon..

  • woah, that's like the exact case for me.......except that I'm only 15 now. It gives me hope for what I could become! Thank you.

  • This is a 66-year old amateur. By that I mean the original definition - a musician who makes his living in another field and pursues music in his spare time.

Yes, there are some errors here (ties and notes). But I hear a well regulated piano, a wonderful golden tone, and lots of potential to make this piece work.

I teach a small handful of adult students, and many of them would love to play at THIS level. How many of you who criticized him can even cover the notes of this piece?

  • What about the countless tied notes that you didn't see? You repeated them all! This is so wrong that I would remove the video of I were you.

  • You know you are really helping improving his preformance, but because you are such an expert maybe we don't need any new piano players ever.

  • Shut up Bastard eduardommm !!!

  • My advice 1. strip it back to 0% pedal 2.make sure you can play the legato passages Legato + good fingering + accurate finger positioning. Then experiment with pedalling options but your default must be rock solid..particularly LH jumps and spreads. This is a difficult piece to play well. it's good but still much to be done for a polished performance.

  • PLEASE donot just add more pedal!! People DONT think. Pedal because of the nature of its design illuminates ANY and ALL imperfections of the fingers and arm. Far from covering it EXPOSES any weak points.

  • You did some very interesting things here. Do you play by ear? Many of your mistakes were very musical and would make nice improves!!

I would definitely check out the pedal markings and perhaps even listen to a few recordings of the piece.

    Thanx for the post.

  • Oh, I had to laugh. I used to do the same thing with my pages. I thought I was the only one to tape pages together and they throw them on the floor.

I'm still not a good page turner, but a few months ago, I decided to go traditional.

  • Actually, I'm not that happy with the playing here... I wasn't playing by ear, I was just missing notes!

  • It is much better to make mistakes that sound good than ones that sound bad. And yours sound good. How long have you been working on the piece? It's coming along.

  • more pedale Much more much more and its way to choppy...sorry=\ but great start and potential

  • I wouldn't thank them for all their bickering. You play this so beatufully. People have nothing better to do, except complain instead of appreciating and respecting your talent.

    Very nice vid.

  • do you play or perform piano? yes he does a great job but this piece is at the fine tuning stages. he just has a few things to fix. I thinking he has the technical part worked he just needs to work on memory and shaping...the phrasing is fine and his tome would be much more beautiful if he used a touch of pedale here or there just for good measure. IDK im a REAL pianist and i think he did a fantastic job at this delicate stage before being prepared for a large recital.

  • PianoCriticsKiller, people gave comments not to be mean, but they care on improving his performance. In order to improve, it is necessary to listen to other comments. Nobody here is being unrespectful! It sounds you really cannot accept others' comments. We are adult not little kids.

  • Find yourself a top teacher, I'm sure any problems that you have with this piece will be ironed out with just a few lessons. They're all little things, but there are a lot of them and you need someone to stop you at every bar like my teachers used to.

  • Good job! Just use a little more pedal is all, and it'll sound great.

  • nice work! i actually thought it skipped along quite nicely. at one point i thought you were going to segue into maple leaf rag.

  • A very difficult and beautiful piece.

Unfortunately, you are forgetting a lot of the ties and there are numerous note errors =(

Also, a tip: there are many octave parts that you can split up between two hands.

I would also recommend using more pedal to make the entire piece sound less dry.

  • thanks for all these comments

  • jeopheraiye, very nice comment, you are very gentle, and I guess this guy made a good job playing such a difficult piece, yeah... pedal, tied notes, but that could be improved, he´s got the skills to do it very well!!!! mdwounds keep working on it!!!!!!!
