  • Why do you have to bridge the connection? Is there any reason you can't just use a regular externally powered USB hub? Also, can you unlock the phone with a keyboard? My phone has a broken screen but I was thinking it might be salvageable as a nettop (or using Motorola's nomenclature: webtop).

  • i'm wondering...

that can't charge the phone at the same time, right?

it just made the keyboard powered by the external power provider

((sorry,i'm not a native English speaker

Hope you understanding what i'm talking about...

  • You need an externally powered hub as is mentioned with needing 5vdc, as well depending on how and where you mount a drive determines if you need root explorer or another file manager. If you don't understand simple circuit theory or Linux file structure don't mess with this or you could easily kill your phone.

  • do you need a root file explorer to read files on usb?

    thanks

  • Please help me to understand something. Do I need a AC powered hub (even in this case is it necessary to make this mod?)or just a regular usb powered hub. Is there any diagram which I could use to make this tweak? Anybody knows if this works in Cyanogen MOD7. Thanks. BTW I'm jealous of your lego stand.

  • I like your Lego stand!!

  • flashdrives work fine, you just need to manually mount them. Moto did something so they only automount when you use an official dock. I expect this to change now that we have an unlocked bootloader.

  • Oh, and does a flash drive work?

  • Nice job. My keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth, so that kinda makes things less messy for me.

xp you should do a tutorial on building the lego stand!

  • if you need more info goto xdadevs and look for thread 997187 all the info you'd ever need.

  • Would it work if you connected a USB powered external hard drive to the device in the same manner?

So correct me if I am wrong. You are just using a modded USB hub, whereby you bridged the 5v DC power to the USB. Which pin on the USB? And why is this necessary? Is the power not supplied by the hub through the USB already?

  • Nice job!

  • can u give us the instroctions xD

  • @ agentdr8, Functional and cheap! @99ss2759 not sure how I can be any more detailed? There's really no magic to this.

  • Nice lego stand! :D

  • Detailed instructions please!
