P-47 is the most successful fighter aircraft of WWII P-51 got the glory and the P-38 was a great plane too as was the P-40, but the P-47 soot down or destroyed on the ground more than any in Europe and the N model in the late Pacific war was tested against all of them and the Corsair and won hands down speed,load,rate of turn, firepower,range.(remember this is the N model) they foolishly didn't use it in Korea and the Mustangs were downed in droves because they were liquid cooled not tough!
@chasyes1 Not sure where you get your stats from but the Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane were far more "successful" in the European annd North African Theatres than any US aircraft. Plus the BF-109 and FW-190 also had more influence than any US fighter.However, I am assuming you are American and don't count these aircraft as we are always being reminded by Americans, we in Britain only played a very minor part in WWII

@TheQuietNotion It's not a HUD, just a reflection on the glass of the gunsight. The P-47D used a Mark VIII Reflector Gunsight, which was a projector sight (Google MarkVIII Refector Gunsight and you'll see how they work and that they look like the one in the video at 2:31). :)
Though that is not say there hasn't been some creative editing on this clip... :)

This has been said here before I think but it bears repeating. Some of those shots were from groups other than the 362. Several were from the 57th FG that flew out of N. Africa, Corsica and finally Italy. The 57th was made up of the 64th (Black Scorpions), 65th (Fighting Cocks) and 65th (forgot their name but insignia was a bear). The 65th insignia was on the cowlings of some of the planes in this video. The motto of the 57th was "First in the Blue" cuz they were the 1st sent to MTO.

P-47 is the most successful fighter aircraft of WWII P-51 got the glory and the P-38 was a great plane too as was the P-40, but the P-47 soot down or destroyed on the ground more than any in Europe and the N model in the late Pacific war was tested against all of them and the Corsair and won hands down speed,load,rate of turn, firepower,range.(remember this is the N model) they foolishly didn't use it in Korea and the Mustangs were downed in droves because they were liquid cooled not tough!

@chasyes1 Not sure where you get your stats from but the Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane were far more "successful" in the European annd North African Theatres than any US aircraft. Plus the BF-109 and FW-190 also had more influence than any US fighter.However, I am assuming you are American and don't count these aircraft as we are always being reminded by Americans, we in Britain only played a very minor part in WWII
