Chur too much guys! Such a beautiful song for what have would have been a beautiful girl. You will always be loved Nia, You didn't deserve what happened to you. Now I hope your family suffer through the pain that you went through. And yet no one had the guts to step up to for you.
@bitmasala Was a kid that died on the 3rd of August 2007, due to physical abuse from her own family she'd been beaten, jumped on, held over a burning fire, had wrestling moves copied 4rm a game practiced on her, spit on, put in a dryer spinning at top heat for up to 30min folded into a sofa and sat on, shoved into piles of rubbish, dragged through a sandpit half-naked, flung against a wall, dropped 4rm high off the floor, and whirled rapidly on an outdoor rotary clothes line until thrown off
mean az waiata, mean az voicez. Maori, pakeha, chinese.... people as a whole are NOT to blame for child abuse. It is the decision that an individual makes to ignore common sense, humanity and most of all LOVE that defines the character of a Child abuser. Its disgusting!!! I hate it!!! But what I hate more is the fact that people can know about child abuse going on and DO NOTHING!!! I say that these people are just as guilty as the abuser for not helping these poor babies!!!
ive listened to this song so many times and always think back about many of our young tamariki who have been neglected and abused, its not right for our young tamariki to go through anything like that. Baby Nia was a beautiful baby girl who was gods gift to this world, and who's life was sadly taken.. SHAME on all those people who was involved in hurting this beautiful pepe, may she Rest In Peace,,
Like aimzdvschild said we may not know her, but will always have a peice of her in our hearts.
Aue te Aroha mai i ahau kia koe e te tamahine....Kati to pouri ra...noho i te aroha.....uhm words can express i we are feeling for da lost ov a baby so young. one who could even defend herself.....REST IN PEACE LITTLE ONE MAY YOU BE REMEMBERED ALWAYS.
Rest in peace beautiful baby girl u r in a better place now ur life here with us wasnt good and i hope you r happy where you are. what happened to you broke thousands of hearts and you deserve any of the pain you went threw .We might not of knowin you NIA but we still cry for you when we think of all the pain you went threw all by yourself a baby who couldnt fight for herself a baby who went threw all that pain by herself breaks our heart Rest in peace sweet baby girl forever loved xoxoxoxo Aimz

Such a beautiful song. I could feel the heartache, sadness, sense of loss and immense love within the lyrics and from those who sung it. I can truly imagine the young ones crying when they sung it at the Kapa Haka Competition and, without a doubt, know the emotions and feelings that I have mentioned where personified and magnified by those who sung and felt by all present....I wish I was there.
Awesome tribute to a lil girl, shes almost like jesus him self in away. Suffered by the hands of someone else. Rest in peace Nia, as for the waiata sung by you choice falla's awesome can tell that was from the heart. Thankyou for sharing it with us.

We are all responsible for what happened to Nia and for all other children who have died from abuse in their family. We have all had a part to play in building our society which turns a blind eye to this abuse either through ignorance, fear or apathy. We must all stand up and protect our children today! Right Now! Tell someone, call for help!

the message in the song is to show that we as Maori are way better people than all of this child abuse, family abuse stuff, and if we follow the path of our ancestors, we will continue on their prestige and mana in a more positive way, and make safe and better living environments for our babies and children....

this is a sad song written for Nia from the family of Mokoia.
Rikihana and his students composed this song, and Rikihana put the tune to it.
This song is suppose to be sung by adults, but the kids sung it better when they performed it on stage at the national competition.
