For those who don't understand or are too stupid... YES THIS WAS THE ACTUAL TRAILER IN 1980.. Stanley Kubrick did it this way for a reason. This is one of the reasons why it is such a great film because of the 'misleading trailer' course the people who already read the book knew it was a hoax trailer. So don't say this is misleading/fake/dumb.

- The font used in "Shining" isn't what Kubrick would have used... and it would have said "The Shining"

- There is one line of dialgue not from the film in this trailer.

- The green preview card at the beginning is in widescreen, and the trailer is not.

- There is an e-mail address at the end of the video, presumably of the editor of the trailer.

- Obvious continuity when Danny goes through the door.

I think Stephen King has great ideas, but his endings tend to flop. The Shining was one of the only good ones. Have you ever read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon? So much anticipation built up for such a shitty ending. And 1408 was pretty shitty, too.

It the movie was so horrible compared to the book. It wasn't just the things they omitted (that always happens, I'm OK with it as long as the plot and characters are intact), it was the way it was delivered. Almost all the creepiness and mystery was replaced by absurd shenanigans that were meant to be scary but failed.
