  • I'm making a ruffle scarf and needed to learn how to knit in the front and back of a stitch. As always, you showed me exactly how to do what I need! Thank you, Judy!!!!!!

  • thank you that was clear enough but is there a difference in the final outcome on the stiches ? thanks

  • Thanks so much,always love your turorial.ูู^^

  • Judy, Thanks so much for clear and concise (and up close!) instructions! You're tutorials are very helpful for this on-and-off knitter. I'm currently working on E. Zimmerman's Baby Surprise Jacket. If you have any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again, Peg

  • Judy, Can you please tell me the name of these two increases because a lot of times the pattern will have a name or abbreviation of which increase to do. Thanks.

  • @virginiaomalley

M1 or KFB, but it doesn't usually matter which one you use. hope this helps. look for me on facebook,

  • @rubbersunny you may have learned this by now since it's been a month but increasing is a method used when you want more volume in your knitting project. you are basically adding a stitch in the knitting. say your knitting a hat that was 80 sts in the beginning and you want it to be more of a beret or slouchy tam. you would increase say 80+ sts to create more volume around the hat to give it that slouchy effect.

i'm sure you've finished the scarf by now...

  • Do I need to learn both ways or is it okay to just stick with one? I really like the first method. The second one was kind of hard.

Thank you so much by the way. You're videos are really helpful.

  • @sarahlavigne3

  • Thank you so much! I love all your videos. I've watched loads of videos from other people, but they all make things complicated. You made it a lot easier. Again, THANK YOU!

well, thanks! please keep watching and look for me on facebook.

  • I started crocheting nine years ago a few months after my son was born. My husbands aunt was doing it and it looked relaxing and something i could do while nursing. I'm a visual learner and couldn't follow the printed books. When I wanted knitting next I was hopeless to lean from any books and hadn't the time for classes . And then my husband said try Youtube and watch it in the evenings when ever I can. And its worked out great!! I really like the look of knitting more. Thanks

  • @queenme02

I agree, knitting looks nicer to me too. Please keep watching my videos. There's lots to learn and it's not hard. Thanks for writing.

  • Judy Judy Judy! I love your knitting videos soooo much. Having been taught by my gran when I was a child and not picking up needles for 20 years, I have found your videos inspiring, easy to follow they have really helped me to re-learn how to knit. I wish I paid more attention when my gran was still alive! Knitting with you is like knitting with granny - you are an inspiration! Thank you so much! xx

  • @nicolapengelly

Thanks for such a nice note. Glad you're knitting again. Please keep watching and look for me on facebook and twitter too.

  • Judy!! Your videos are the best! You have taught me to knit! I had zero knowledge 3 days ago and I am now almost done knitting my first project ever-a wool cloth diaper cover! I'm so thrilled to finally be knitting!! I tried learning from books in the past and I watched a few videos before I came accross yours. Everything else seemed very confusing, but your instructions are clear, your videos are high quality and you are a terrific teacher!

Thank you for sharing and keeping knitting alive!

  • @goddesskristie

I loved getting your note. Congratulations and doing so well in such a short time. Keep it up. Keep watching and learning and please look for me on facebook too.

  • thank you so much for posting this and your other videos. I have recently taken knitting back up, after 20 years. I learnt very young from my mother and was prolific in my teens. Now I live far away from my mum and her memory is not very good. It would stress her if I asked for reminders and if she herself could not remember. With your help we can just talk about the projects and my progress with no stress involved. It means alot. Thank you!

  • @shonavanbeers

thanks for such a sweet note. I love that the videos are working for you and that it gives you and your mother something to talk about without stressing her out for help. keep knitting and having fun. btw, new video on today.

  • i was wondering... if i miss a stitch i could use the increase method?

  • @ana3diaz

yes, but make sure you don't have a hole where you missed the stitch. If you need to rip out you can watch my video on how to unravel stitches.

  • this is a good video , she seems to know what she is doing .

  • @SmylieDave

    YES!

  • thanks so much for showing this! I'm still a beginner and I was going about it like casting on XD oops. Also, sometimes when I knit, I tend to get large loops on my last stitch on the needle. How can I avoid this?

  • @SummerStorm91

it helps to knit the last stitch through the back. that makes it tighter. also, just practice. the more you do it the better you do it. please keep watching for more videos.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy The video was very helpful, thanks! I'm a newbie at knitting, so this video helped a lot.

Also, your comment on knitting the last stitch through the back is also very helpful! Thanks!

  • @NiamhWitch

thanks. glad the video helped you. please keep watching.

  • Thank god!! I've read in so many books how to increase but it's never looked right. I see where I went wrong now. Cheers Judy!! xoxox

  • hey, glad you figured it out. Now you know that it's easy. Happy knitting.

  • sounds like you're doing great. 2 color chevron isn't so easy. keep up the good work.

  • sorry, please try again.

  • Thank you so much! So helpful!

  • always glad to know I was helpful. happy knitting!

  • with the second method do you only increase with a knit row?

Thank you Judy for uploading all these very helpful videos and now i am one step closer to being a good knitter! ha ha

but seriously is nice to have someone that actually answers your questions

  • happy new year and happy knitting!

  • good video and explanation of two ways...the second way looks like it will work for me

  • @complexkitty so do i.the second way is easier than the first.

  • This is a wonderful video! You explain very well and slow, wich gives me time to see and understand what you are doing. Thank you for this video!

  • Hi, I just wanted to say you are a sweetheart. I had been shown once; some time ago, on how to add using your second method, I have been trying to remember how since. Then along came your video. You are a lifesaver. Many many thanks.

  • Thanks it help me a lot

    (",)v.....

  • Does one leave a bigger hole over the other?

  • not if you do it right! please keep watching and happy knitting.

  • Yes that's great and very helpful, but why would you use one over the other?

  • Whichever one you like and feels best for you will work. There are so many different ways to do so many things in knitting that it can get confusing. I just wanted to show 2 different ways. Happy knitting!

  • I'm sorry I flagged this video by accident. I can't figure out how to undo it. Please note that it was a mistake!!

  • I don't know how either. Don't worry about it. I hope you'll keep watching all my videos and happy knitting!

  • Guess what, I realized I've done this many times, but by accident! Couldn't figure out why I was increasing stitches when I didn't mean to, now I get it!!! It wasn't as neatly done as your example but I'm sure this is what happened.... I was using very 'fuzzy' yarn. Thanks for the note.

  • Yikes! Scary! Not ready for this!

  • don't be afraid. just go slow!

  • Its actually really simple !

if you just watch closely then you will understand it :)

    goodluck
