  • this is number 5

  • Nice! BTW – you can learn to play this song in half the time with new gadget that reads MIDI files.

    Google “Gizmag and PianoMaestro”

  • Hey all, this is Jonathon from the video. If you like these tutorials, I'm beginning to put my new ones up on my own channel. Just click my name (groovewindow) and sub, if you're interested. Otherwise, carry on!

  • really nice lessons... the bassline reminds me of chameleon from Herbie Hancock...

thanks a lot for the videos!!!!!!!

  • yeah m it`s a real ninja position!

  • anybody know more about those ninja hand blues techniques?

  • Ninja Hand Switch!

  • Good playing but it need numbering so you can follow the tutorial easier. Finding your way around is a nightmare.

  • he hits B flat with his middle finger

  • i don't like the tone of that piano very much...but the song is great

  • I love this video, but what really makes me want to scratch out my eyes is that he plays it so slow that you don't get the rhythm the first time and then jumps right to full speed. I can't get the hang of this rhythm!

  • if you come to minneapolis, look me up.

  • Can anyone tell which finger he is using to hit the B flat in the first measure? I'm thinking thumb.

  • thumb =D

  • Thanks! I've gotten pretty far in these lessons but it's difficult playing the licks that he doesn't transcribe.

  • i cant get this one. lol

  • NINJA Hands !!!!! ... lol

  • Ninja hand haha xD

Well I'm also stuck here atm. very nice lessons so far!

  • hi jon, you are a real expert in the village, unlike the rest.....nice stuff.....i have started today with lesson no. 1, hopefully by the end of next week i will be able to put it all together......thx for your time to show this to us

  • I agree that putting together two very different parts is difficult, but it will really improve your ear and your feel for the music if you try to work it out yourself. Most jazz music is NOT fully written out, and playing by ear is a necessary skill.

  • ninja hand lol sweet.

  • its like his left brain is separated from his right brain:)

  • If you haven't found it yet -- just see my profile for the link to my site. All of the music, etc. are up there for free download. If you can't find them, just send me a private message (chilkari)... ( - Jonathon)

  • I don't know why this was marked as spam but it's a really good site, thank you :)

  • Thanks!, the site is new but i'm adding stuff daily. And its definately handy for situations like this where its hard to know which lesson is which.

I think a lot of youtubers see that there is a link in a comment and automatically mark it as spam , without even investigating what the link is. In this case i was just trying to help , which is a shame as a lot of people wont see the comment if its marked as spam.

  • Guys, I recommend you go to Johnathon's website, or send him an email for directions to his website if you can't find it. You can download the PDF from the site and then count out the 16ths and rests to see how the two hands fit together.

  • @opus2canada y wouldnt you just tell us his fucking web site

  • shit... my right hand is good... left is good as well.... what about putting them together.... totally agree with you guys!!

  • One problem... you never show how the left hand bass line fits in with whatever the right hand is doing. I can play both hands independently no problem from all the videos, but putting them together if fuckin hard. I just need to see it written out.

  • Nice funk groove. Can i get a copy of PDF please.

    Thanks for the video!

  • Hello Johnathan Compliments and More.

May I have the partitions of that?

    How can I contact you?

    See you

    Luigi

  • hi jonathon,

    this is great !!

could you send me the pdf please?

    thanx

  • problem is the chord progression is never revealed; it would be a lot easier to say c7 to f7 and then then you could kinda work it out for yourself... still a good video though

  • its a video series and he mentions the chord progression earlier

  • it would be very helpful to have the different parts numbered, because i don't really know where to start and what to do next.

but the lessons in general are great. cheers, nina

  • totally agree.

  • By the way -- I have the music for this series available as a PDF -- if you'd like a copy, just send me a message and I can hook you up... (-Jonathon)

  • yo can i get a copy of that??

  • Can i get a copy too???

    Thanks

  • Hey, I really appreciate what you've done here, I'm doing my best to learn these but the music would really help. How can I get a copy?

  • HI jonathon,

this tutorial is highly enjoyable!!! Bravo

I'd like you to point me up the pdf if possible!!!

    Chears

    nico (paris)

  • Thanx for sharing that Jonathon. Could you send me that PDF-file please? See you around
