  • Such fucking amazing lyrics. I love the Pastels. I miss living in Glasgow, hanging out at Monorail... I'm twenty fucking years old, I'm too young to feel this nostalgic.

  • @Useless2112 It's okay, i am 19 and i feel even more nostalgic. The '90s was such a great decade. Shame we weren't teenagers then.

  • @xsultrysongstress79x I'm 19 too and feel the same way!! What I would do to have seen Mazzy Star and Cocteau Twins live. :(

  • @portisalpha Yeah, sucks doesn't it. My musical voids will never be filled with Mileys and Biebers. :(

  • @portisalpha are you me?

  • umm... this came out in the mid 80s @xsultrysongstress79x

  • @talktal What is your point? I was just talking about being a teen in the '90s.

  • im sorry! i can change!

  • This is great - I`ve just discovered this.

  • I once thought 'Up for a bit' was one of the best albums ever made, listening to this 20 years later, it still is. They should have been able to retire from the quality of this record. well crafted tunes ... cheers Mr and Mrs Pastel :-)

  • the two who kiss at the end - I think they are the vaselines

  • She comes walking down the road

And I know that dogs won't bark

She comes walking up the stairs

    She's tap-tap-tapping on my door

And she'll make those tears to know that it's a must

But I go blind and my mouth fills up with dust

Says she's open like a book

    She's got everything I need

Even wants to take the time

To teach me how to read

  • the sound quality is far worse on the video than on the album which is a shame.

  • They were one of Kurt Cobains favorite bands.

  • fucking wank

  • Anyone any idea where the video was filmed?

Is it Glasgow? Or is it der Eiserne Steg in Frankfurt am Main?

  • it was filmed on a bridge over the clyde in glasgow next to the main railway bridge from glasgow central station in galsgows city centre. the inside parts were filmed in the tenement hallway of otago street in glasgow in the block where brian superstar (the guitarist) lived which is also where the album insert to sitting pretty was photographed

  • Gosh, this is love.

  • I like this version of the song better than the one on the album 'Up for a bit with the pastels'. On the album its much slower. Anyone any idea why this is?

  • This is the single version which can be found on the Truckload Of Trouble compilation (the best Pastels record money can buy).

  • two versions were recorded at the same studio session and the band liked both so used one for the single version (above) and released the other on the album a few months later

  • kOOL sONG!!....I think they were a very very lost band from the 80's indie movement. They sounds like:

Galaxie 500 + The jesus and mary chain.

  • the Pastels are amazing, brilliant song

  • I saw Stephen in a Glasgow shop a few years ago.He was purchasing...soup.

  • pass me the lyrics of this song please

  • Great stuff! Lucky enough, to have a copy of the Shelter video, from when it came out!

  • I have a friend (Not actually a friend, we're too shy for that. More like we should be friends) Who reminds me of Stephen. Very cute boys, they are.

(Sorry if this shows up twice)

  • I have a friend, [Not actually a friend, we're too shy for that. More like we would like to be friends] Who reminds me of Stephen. Very cute boys, they are.

  • Never take this video down. x

  • I bow to the beauty of this song.

  • I first saw this video back in FEB 1988 on the USA network. Great song! Thanks for posting it.

  • I'm Sure The Pastels (from Glasgow) helped The VASELINES (from edinburgh) with their First Recording Studio Experience if not they are definetly connected in some way.

The Best Two Scottish Bands EVER!!!

  • they are best friends! the vaselines first few records were released on 53rd & 3rd - stephen pastels record label. the video above is starring francis and eugene from the vaselines just when they got together. also stephen produced the vasleines first few records and eugene was also in the astels for about a year although all throgh the late 80s they always played gigs together and mixed band members
