is there a good Humble Pie greatest hits collection type of CD out there? any suggestions as what their best albums are/were? thanks for your feedback.
@roaringwaterbay double album 'Rockin' the Filmore' is my favorite, they were peaking in popularity here in the states, and it is just an awesome example of the blues rock power they had.
ha my fave humble pie track....its funny but i feel this is what Marriott in his head wanted the SF to journey towards....but an incredible song of musical majestical medicine!
You know what, I'm a long time Frampton fan but I haven't ever been able to get a HP album in Italy foe decades!!!!!!, nobody knew who they were..luckly the internet saved me in the '90s . I LOVE THEM!!
I stumbled on this cassette in a gas station driving cross-country with my family when I was 14 or so. I fell in love with this song. It's my favorite Humble Pie song. I still have the cassette.
@roaringwaterbay Get Humble Pie Live at the Whiskey A-Go-Go 1969. Stunning
You'll probably have to get it off itunes though. I tried to get it off amazon but it was like 50 bucks and I already have it from itunes. I just wanted the cd. Amazing record and I've heard it all.
Great album, I bought it the day it came out in 1969, I've still got it and I still play it and it still sounds fucking magnificent. Steve Marriott was the best singer I've ever heard.
@toomuchrose the word 'magnificent' might be lost on many but I understand completely where you're coming from..Was a big Small Faces and Spooky tooth fan and waited for this album keenly. It didn't disappoint :)
Bought this album aged 15 in 69..still listening now and enjoying in 2011..saw Steve Marriot in his band of three just before his sad death..sorry pack of three..its an age thing!
@salonsixtytwo I would have been 15 in November '69 so I was 14 when the LP came out, like you I still love this LP, I too met Steve when it was The Official Receivers. He was and is 100% never gave a bad show, his music should be played every day on the Radio.
@spacepatrolman thanks fo ryour comment.. i think when steve let peter do what he wanted it opened up a whole new direction for him to go and evidently it did :) sometimes when you play a first draft of a song or write lyrics, in time they develop into something bigger.
Back in the day the head rock critic at Rolling Stone magazine reviewed this album and said there was nothing worth listening to on it; just a bunch of noise. LOSER! Was no doubt grooving on the pure white light of stupidity while listening to Helen Reddy! Who hires guys like that?!!!
@SuperJumpback there is a radio program on wnyu tales from the marshmellow dimension with the paisley piper he plays pschedelic records he plays this .
