It has though been confirmed that Barak Hussein Obama´s father is muslim and that his mother´s second husband propably was also, so it is not inconceivable that she converted herself.

Muslims were never colonisers but they did trade on the East African coast. The little land they owned was not Kenya's best land. His father however, described himself as an atheist when he met Obama's mother. I concede that it is possible that his mother converted to Islam. Even if his father was a practising Muslim, as long as Barack Obama is a sensible human being, his faith shouldn't matter.
