Goldikova's coming back to Churchill Downs to try and win her fourth consecutive Breeders Cup Mile. The way the 2011 season has played out, I think she's likely to accomplish the feat. But only because Canford Cliffs has been retired, and because Juddmonte Farms has decided not to send Frankel to this year's Breeders Cup races. I think she's be in trouble if either of them were coming stateside. JMO.
Goldikova, dare I say it, could be better than Zenyatta. However, I say this with great reservation because Zenyatta never once faced a tougher field. Because of the Mosses' reservation to possibly ruin her record... she was not ready for the 2010 BCC. So if she'd been prepared, like Goldikova, the race's outcome could have been different. Anyway. Both great mares, wonderful jockeys, trainers, connections... Thanks for letting Goldikova run this year!
@Susie369 could be better than zenyatta? any unbiased racing fan will tell you she is a better horse than zen.to me the most impressive race zen had was the 1 she lost.honestly i have a hard time ranking zen in my top 5 mares of the last 10 years when you start comparing her to sunline, zarkava, makybe diva, goldi and of course rachaels 3 year old campaign was as impressive as it gets for a filly.if the mosses would have put her in open class races it could be different but they didnt.
My favorite part... When they swing off the turn into the stretch, Goldikova turns her head, looks down the lane, puts her head down and just explodes. I watch it over and over. She's amazing
Best mare in the world and unlike Zenyattas connections she did not avoid top competition for years. Took on all comers and usually won. Used to think Lure was the best miler in the past 20 years, now he's got an equal and maybe a bit better.
I like how you said best in the WORLD. Zenyatta is best mare of California... Shes raced in that state practically her whole career. Now Goldi travelled countries, raced colts countless times. She wasn't afraid. But IMO The Mosses only wanted a pretty record, now that is gone they demand HOTY. LOL
a few months ago an american muppet told me how i was wrong to back Goldi over Sidneys Candy - well here i am in my kentucky hotel room, fresh from watching a superior female, win yet another B/C race .. wheres that muppet now ?
This performance was so underrated. The horses she beat were nothing great but the time was unbelievable, and she came so wide round the bend. Absolute freak miler, she can go from the front, or the back, anywhere. On her day she is unbeatable over a mile. Better than Miesque.
So disappointed with Gladiatorus's run in this race. I didn't think Gladiatorus would win the 09' B.C. Mile. But I really thought he'd figure much more in the race than he ultimately did. Provided that his racing form that he displayed in Dubai in 2009 wasn't steroid related, I'd really love to see Gladiatorus return to that kind of racing form. He really is a beautiful colt to watch with that front running stride when he's on top of his game. IMO.
what a filly, she would have gave zenyatta a run for her money, and since rachel alexandra's owners are scared, why dont they set up a race with goldikova, i think she would give her a run over 10f aswell

Yeah, Courageous Cat ran a huge race and the filly still ran him down, despite having to alter paths at the sixteenth pole. Impressive.

zenyatta goes extreme outside every race and wins every race. 19/19
17.2 hands and her strides are 4 feet longer than all the other horse.
now thats the biggest freak in horseracing.

She looked like she ran the final furlong in under 11 seconds crazy acceleration.

@GBeret83 The pace was impossible for Gladiatorous. 45 and 1 for the half mile. He had a legit excuse.
