If I may ask something about "desu". You say "to be" and it's something I've been wondering too. Is it like "ser" in spanish. Can it mean "am" or "are" rather than "is". Like "watashi wa takai desu" as in "I am tall." Thank you, and thanks for making these videos.
@MrInsanity25 "desu" can basically mean both, I'm sure. It depends on context and how you're gonna use it. ^^ Like you said, if you say "watashi wa takai desu." You'd be saying "I am tall." not "I is tall." In Japanese, "are" and "is" both mean desu. Though, I'm not an expert, so don't take my advice to seriously. ^^'
@oOFudgePrincessOo That's what I was think like in spanish "ser" is "to be" which is am/is/are though in spanish every verb has 6 forms(5 used) and in japanese he says it's only past present or future(or I assume so). so if "desu" means to be then oki doki.
I heard you did or are planning to move back the the USA. Moving back to Denton by chance? Lot's of people here who could use a Japanese tutor. They might even pay you in beer. I brew my own, so I sure as hell would. haha
You haven't learned mu yet. You ain't a cow, you don't have to say mu yet, either. I don't give a shit, just say mu. You're just gonna sound like a fuckin cow.
i luv the fact that theres an american guy somewhere out in japan recording himself while drawing on his fridge , praising the beetles and speaking a diffrent language.
@issueagent There is no "Is and "are" in Japanese. Thats what particles are for. Like wa and ga. Watashi WA or watashi GA could mean is am are and so on just depending on the context.
Say what you want about his profanity, he knows what he is talking about and he likes what he is doing and it works. I am not even learning Japanese and have been watching his videos for pure entertainment/fun and I have picked stuff up and have even been able to make grammatical connections with Korean (current and third language I am learning). I will definitely go back to these videos when I learn Japanese, which unfortunately won't be for a few years.
do your own research and use common sense. a comment page on youtube is probably not the best place to find out how to refer to yourself in another language. also, offhand, namasensei is so much better than most language programs.
wait this is animestyle92 speaking. watashi is the mature and formal way in saying i. atashi is girlish. boku is immature childish and boyish. so if i were u id stick with watashi

SENSEI!!! I've been studying Japanese and I would like to know the difference in the "to be" verbs : desu, arimasu, and imasu. Please explain. Arigato gozai masu.
