Can someone recommend something that shows off his acting talent as I've only even seen him in Doctor Who where I thought he acting talent was decidedly average at best, so his winning this award is slightly puzzling to me.
@artfilms1987 how is he a twat....? talented actor, director. made sum class films. and his just straight up isnt a twat....... get ya head straight boy!
I can't help but feel that this guy is developing a bit of an ego. I'm in no way jealous of him, fair dues to anyone who achieves there dream. but he just seems a bit too cocky and big headed for my liking. The real test is if he breaks into America. This is just my opinion, so don't try to tear me a new one if my opinion pisses some people off. I'd like to know if anyone else thinks the same as me on this.
Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail, who played Latika and Salim in the early scenes of the slumdog film, received $725 (£500) and $2,465 (£1,700) respectively for their work.
Time for a dissenting opinion which will be thumbed down and called spam - I don't care how good he was in the film, those three words were such a cheap ploy to get applause. If he hadn't said them nobody would've clapped like that. Judging by his cocky stride and smug collar adjustment it doesn't surprise me that he said that. What do they have to do with anything anyway? Oh, he's black and so's Obama... Wow, the profundity.
oh lighten up, it fitted in with the rest of his speech, you can achieve what you want it you work hard. And for the record, Bob the Builder coined the phrase Yes We Can long before obama was ever on the scene. ;)
"Cheap ploy to get applause"? Watch the clip again? I think you'll find the audience are applauding BEFORE he accepts the award as well as after. My guess is that you don't feel comfortable with confident black men Like Noel Clarke, which says more about you than it does Noel. He has every right to be cocky, he's the first black person to win an award in this category. Kudos to him.
Yeah and shia looked like he didnt wanna great him. Mate Im SO glad that we all pulled together to ensure he won. It was a BITCH SLAP to the Media Studies teacher who taught both him and me. He is an inspiration
*sigh* Notice how they burst into applause at those three words? That's no coincidence And why did you have to bring race into this and assume that I'm uncomfortable with him winning? I don't care who won or what race they are, I just didn't like his attitude.
Bringing race into this issue is inexorable. Had that been a white guy you wouldn't have batted an eyelid, no matter how cocky his gait or demeanour was. You don't have to say much to let me know that you're uncomfortable with confident black men. As I said in my previous riposte, this in itself says more about you than Noel, irrespective of what you think about him.
I love your presumptuous manner, the way that you think that I am uncomfortable with anyone black being confident not knowing I'm actually mixed race. It's not the colour of his skin that pissed me off, it's those words. Black, white, Chinese whatever, I'd still think they were a populist arse for bringing that up in an awards speech.
You took a long time to bring your colour into the conversation. Have you only just looked in the mirror or something? Frankly, I don't care what colour you are. The man that the "yes we can" mantra is attributed to, is indeed a mixed race man. Taking this into account, you should be PROUD that Noel said what he said. Just because you're mixed race that doesn't necessarily mean that you're comfortable with blacks - it's not a given.
The way it was brought up suddenly just reminded me of all those idiots who call people racist whenever anyone says something dissenting (but not offensive) about someone of race.
levels im mixed race, but fam you need to hold it down bout this racism hype, y is man beggin to b obama for, i rate my man for his achievment but true say your both fools
You're going to find yourself a lot more popular than you ever thought possible, but I doubt that there was a more level head in that room than yours!
I hope none of those words were "idiot", commenting on someone else. Whatever you might think, you haven't got one sentence spelt correctly. That's fine if English is your second language, but do Noel some justice and use your words well - rather than just often.
Toby Kebbel is a great actor, with a couple of good films under his belt - the last guy ritchie film was utter shit - but noel clarke doesn't just act brilliantly, he also directs and writes brilliantly too. He is so talented and determined to be heard, and determined to give opportunity to thise who might not find a way in to the industry. He talks to his fans regularly and gives them the chance to shine. He is amazing, and it isn't all about the fame with him it's about saying something real.
but, Noel Clarke Kidulthood, and adulthood he is stellar...really, really good...and this award is called "Rising Star" and he is really rising in the ranks of tv work.
YESSSS! I was so worried that the public would end up voting for toby kibbel or whatever his name is. So glad Noel won! I know its not the biggest award but it was certainly the only one this year i had any emotional investment in. Well done brother. you deserve it!
Clarke wrote and directed a critically acclaimed AND commercially successful British film last year. Since it's inception the rising star award has simply gone to young actors (Eva Green and Shia) who had the benefit of being in big Hollywood movies.
