  • How long will the two capacitor last at 12 v at a drain of 3-5 amps? I have a portable radio which hads 8 D size batteries in total at 1.5v dc each. what power rating would you consider to keep the radio going for about 4 hours?

  • brilliant video

  • very interesting thanks

  • How long should i charge a 25V with a 12v charger?

  • @g82omio you are spot on...you probably paid patrickikis alot of money to be able to view his video and if I were you I would demand that you get your money back! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This guy was cool enough to share one of his projects with us and all you can do is criticize the way he talks? BTW I didn't have any trouble understanding him. Just what we need, the entitlement generation's version of Gene Siskel telling everyone how bad their youtube videos suck...cool video man!

  • @patrickikis Constructively, I think your video is pretty cool, and I'll agree that it is a bit hard to understand. Personally, I've much better luck recording audio after recording the video. You get better room acoustics, AND you can also edit your audio. Trust this: doing on-the-fly audio NEVER goes smoothly, unless you're Walter Cronkite, Ron Burgundy, or any other professional newscaster. ^_^ Unfortunately, two things that can make you look like a fool are stammering, and lashing back! GL!

  • so what is the max voltage in to the dc-dc booster can it handle 12 volts because im considering buying it drom your site so please get back to me soon.

  • hey whats the max voltage you can supply to the dc to dc converter and is the 2 amps 2 amps in or 2 amps out, lastly when you set a voltage on the dc to dc converter does the voltage constantly drop with the drop of the capacitor or does the dc to dc converter compensate by pulling more amperage?

  • Where could I get these parts and any schematics for it?

  • Nice work! How much did the caps set you back?

  • Super Cool

  • did i hear that right 200 FARADS? wow. i siply NEVER KNEW CAPACITORS CAN HOLD THAT MUCH!

  • did i hear that right 200 FARADS?

  • Cool

  • How many amps is this rated for ?

  • @jcdshb3

Up to 2A continuous, and 3A max.

  • I guess your voltage display can go over 20V if you use some kind of voltage dividor, say to read up to 40V , then every reading would have to be doubled.

  • @trailkeeper That would work if I were going to be the only one using it, but if anyone else were to play with it, 10VDC would be interpretted as 10VDC, but it would really be 20VDC. I really only plan on using it for a 9v batter. Gonna put a solar panel on it during the day as opposed to a transformer.

  • cool project

  • @ossiegoldhill123 Hi Joe.

Thanks for the comment. What I mean't so say was either voltage limiting circuit, or over-voltage protection circuit. It would require a steady reference voltage, a relay/driver or a triac, and a comparator circuit, plus a few passive components. Normally it wouldn't be tricky, and I know how I plan on doing it, but it is tricky in this case because there are three voltage levels, and two of them aren't always on. if I had more room to write, I'd continue...

  • that's cool man! question: how would you go about making that "security circuit" to prevent against over-charging?? Any examples online? I'm just not sure if that's what it's officially called or not. I'll search online, but if you have a good circuit in mind, i'd appreciate if you either posted a link to one or messaged me the link to one. Thanks buddy! -Joe

  • @joebro391 I just wrote a continued resonse that went into detail, and it got erased =( Send me your email, and I'll send you a half-assed reference drawing of a basic circuit.
