  • Brother J's poem was truly great - respect.

  • Aint no one hattin on this cuz its old skool :)

  • @nahylkathyse No one hatin cause this is protected by the Red the Black and the Green

  • sisssssssssssssy

  • Take notice that the brothers didn't go for the fat gold chains and all that

  • You know the white power structure wasn't going to have all this "proud to be black" shit going on! This is how we got the N.W.A's and others who called us niggers and our women bitches instead of Africans.

  • This was very conscience Hip Hop, they used the Parliament-Funkadelic derivatives as bait in order to get their message across. What is funkier than P-Funk? Hence the title: 'Funkin Lesson.'

  • X-Clan had to be the worst offenders of pillaging Parliament Funkadelic songs.

  • @maysonbanner how can you pillage when George Clinton encourage them to sample it? they keep the funk relavent to a whole new generation.

  • that went way over most of their heads

  • 0 Dislikes, that's logical.

  • shrine!

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 If you don't like this you know nothing about Hip-Hop. I'm sure there's some Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga videos here for you.

  • mASSIVE

  • wow i remember this song. It was the shit back in the day

  • walkin stompin in my big black boots, living off the earth eating herbs and fruits, the children await me by the mountain and the river, and gather 'round the fire for the scrolls that I deliver. (Grand Verbalizer) DAMN I MISS REAL HIP-HOP!!!!!!!

  • omg i grew up to this. this is cleaning and house music

  • dam! x clan gave us egyptology, krs 1 gave us metaphysic, public enemy gave us fore front defence against white surpremecy........and out of nowhere n w a,, negative gangster rap took over ,..and our youth lost their minds just when we were raising conscious..co winkydink? I DONT THINK SO

  • @kamelgee you what funny, but sad? on express yourself, dre say he didn't smoke weed. a few summers later, his cronic cd sold millions.

  • @kamelgee

I feel ya, good analysis. They f'ed with the NYC recipe and it tastes awful now. There were some good groups outside NY but it just went south in a weird way.

It's like there is a row of seats up front and some of the youth would rather be in the back drinking n gettin' lap dances while they twitter about nuthin'

  • whats the name of the hairstyle (brother J)

sry for my english im from austria

    thx

  • High-top Gumby fade.

  • One nation under a groove- Funkadelic

  • What song is this sampled from?

  • yes it sucks, I remember when the music industry didn't care if songs were sampled. Then they started suing and clamping down. Copyrighted. Greed took over and the true artists threw up their hands. Now look what happened. Current rap / hip hop sucks, music industry is known more for suing mp3 downloaders than for music itself.

  • this is real shit right here.

  • The golden age of HIPHOP!!! Sampling at is best(along with De La Soul and, DJ Pooh,Dr Dre).No Pc -No Frutty Loops or Modern Samplers with 10 min sampling times. Could the Limited instruments in the 80's..be the reason why there WAS so much creativity at that time.Think about it.

  • It's crazy how Mexican claim ATLAN but that's African/black/mooris werid!

    -StoicOne!

  • ITS called, AZTLAN

  • Oh, ok learned somehthing new!

  • I love this group, I was just thinking about them the other day. They need to come back out we really need this type of music.

  • X-Clan IS still out - I saw them live with PE a couple years ago and they had an album out called "Return To Mecca". One of the highlights was a historic joint called, "Speak the Truth" with KRS-ONE - it's HOT!!!! It's on youtube too. Check it out!

  • Yo this was the ish I was just a shorty. Now and days you can barely get two verses from an artist. Ol chorus rappin ass splinters. one of his verses is todays artist whole song.

  • Seriously, how did X-Clan get clearance for all the crazy samples they have in their songs? I don't know who their DJ/Producer was, but that guy was a sampling guru.

  • tune probably just old enough to be prior to the mahor wave of lawsuits that really ended the sample based hip hop...other than the sample stabs used by premier etc...or dre having session muso's to get around the rules...now someone post the damned remix!!! cheers!!!
