The 18650 version is better than the AAA C30, brightness is about the same, but they take a much larger battery capacity. Either way, they're bargains for the amount of light they throw. I've got an old AAA version that has taken multiple beatings and is still going strong.
Dealextreme is tragic. I wait 2 month for my order and they even did not send them, they are not able to inform when the products will be available. Never more DELAYEXTREME !!!
Do you think it is bright enough to ride a bike at slow to moderate speeds by at night? I ordered one for my sister with the bike mount to replace her horrible battery eating incandescent light. Also she already has one of those cheap single 5mm lights that use the same battery holder.
@riothero313 i think it's enough. but it will be much better to order similar x2000 which powered from LiIon 18650 and lasts much longer. as for me, i've modded c30 few monthes ago for work from LiIon, replaced LED with Cree R2 and added 16-mode driver. now it is brighter and has modes.
@venustrg Thanks for the info. I got it for a gift so it will be 100x better then what she has and she is also familiar with the style of lights that have the 3 normal battery holder, so she will have an extra holder on hand. Trust me if it was for me it would have a 18650 :) I have a few cree and P7 lights now that use them and even got a R2 thrower in the same order but I didn't think she would want to fuss with chargers and special batts.
@venustrg How did you managet to get 18650 battery into c30 flashlight? Did you use extension tube - if so where did you get it? Thanx for your answer!

@venustrg I saw the pic you uped to DX. How did you make the extention tube? Does DX sell it? I see that your tube is 16.73mm. What are the inner/outer sizes of the tube at the threads?
@venustrg Hey bro, thanks for the detailed picture! I've been searching for suppliers who carry tubing with these specs and found none. Do you have a source? Sorry to sound so stupid. Thanks.

Great video ! Only way is to compare lights. Most guys just buy a single light and flash it into the camera. What kind of review is that ??? Wow, I'm blinded ?

couple questions
1. can you run a caliber on the tube and tell me what size it is? not the front by the lens but where the batteries are.
2. whats battery life like?
3. have you tried it with rechargeable nimh AAA's? if so whats the brightness like compared to alkaline?
4. is it water proof / resistant?
5. can you lock the focus? it looks really easy to move back and forth.
i wanna mount this on a rifle dont want the flood/throw focus being moved easily.
thanks

@opisex
1. 28mm
2/3. more than 1 hour on 3xAAA NiMH, never tried alkaline. now i use it with LiIon 18650 which gives me triple runtime.
4. resistant - maybe. but not really waterproof due to sliding mechanism.
5. it can be modded easily to make focus changing more tight, just replace metal ring in sliding mechanism with 18mm silicone o-ring.
