  • This is hypocritical.

  • I know that technically you cannot have a religious activities sponsored by government. I get that. But Christmas is a christian holiday. If this is a Christmas event then I see no reason why they cant read it. It is literature. Hes not leading in prayer or any rituals. Hes reading. If you want to take it far enough you can say a city cannot sponsor a religious holiday event. Im an atheist, but that was a bit nit picky

  • @UndeadClown95

well clearly if we are to take seperation of church and state as a law, then christmas must be removed from it's status as a national holiday. politicians are simply to afraid to do that and enrage the public.

  • @waldoman7 Is that really a big deal though. We have enough problems to do deal with without making imaginary ones

  • Mmm Gretchen. Breaking the law for 22 yrs. Going Down!

  • Is there no one who will bomb their transmitter? really.

  • "I can't get illegagy stolen taxmoney sponsoring my religion anymore, and the only thing that was needed was one taxpayers attention. Boo-hoo!"

  • 22 years; 22 years; 22 years; man, get off that! It doesn't matter how long you've been doing it, if the city government has been officially sponsoring it all that time it's been illegal and still is. What's sad (but not surprising) is that it took them so long to recognize the problem and fix it. Can't they still have as much fun singing nonreligious carols, looking at pretty lights and letting the kids see Santa, without engaging in any exclusive religious rituals?

  • If the local government sponsored for the event then there shouldn't 'have been a bible reading. Fuck faux news and their bias. It's not as if christmas was originally a Christian holiday anyway, they stole it form the pagans.

"....acquiesce to the demands of one person." How about you reword that to OBEY THE FUCKING LAW, dumb cunt.

  • If government facilities are donated for use, government money spent or if paid government employees promote or take part in the ceremony, it is unconstitutional.

If you don't think I'm right, then go for it and let the courts decide.

Or you could do the whole thing privately, possibly pay a small fee to the city for use of city facilities if they are used, and there won't be an issue. Of course, you might have to rent the city facilities to atheists too.

    What's good for the goose...

  • The bible is a disgusting book of death. Along with the koran they should be banned. The bible is as offensive as a book of children having sex or Mein Kampf. Keep your cultish failings to yourself.

  • @699backstab Read Proverbs. then read 1 John.. meaning the short epistle near the end of the Bible. Do this and then you might give your head a shake re: your so-called book of hate.

  • Id read the bible except i ve got my erection balls deep in your imaginary dead jew carpenter jesus Christ. I just squeezed off another tablespoon of my spermatozoa into his lower intestine. Ill be using pages i rip from your book of death to clean off my cock :D Bible faggot...go kill yourself and see you fake god right away.

  • @699backstab children having sex? OH you mean the torah and the talmud... also the Koran.. silly person learn your books right

  • @arktheball Something about Lot putting up his daughters for rape. The bible is an instruction manual for cowards on how to properly fuck up being a good Human being :D Your religion is murder and rape.

  • I don't know why some petty people just cant stand that one day of the year there is some bible reading? Why don't you just come back nest day when there isn't someone reading some religious book? I'm an atheist and I don't have anything against religions but I cant stand people that uses religions as an excuse of being cruel.

Sorry if this isn't making sense. English isn't my first or even second language...

  • Fuck Fox News.

    First Amendment is the LAW!

    It protects all citizens.

It is obvious that Fox News is un-American!

  • @bobster451

er, isn't first amendment the right to bear arms? I could be mistaken.

anyway, the religious amendment says "congress shall make no law concerning religion". No part of that says that all aspects of religion shall be removed from any government location or establishment. If they want the ten commandments in a court house...technically that's not forbidden.

  • @waldoman7 The right to bear arms is the Second Amendment. And as for the 10 commandments being in a public funded building you would be incorrect, that is a violation of the First Amendment.

  • @bobster451

please explain how. congress can make no law concerning religion. how does this relate to removing all traces of religion from federal buildings?

  • @waldoman7 it is the way the courts have treated the interpretation of the Establishment clause of the First Amendment. If you are going to allow a christian display then you must allow any other belief or dis-belief to have a display as well. This is not a majority rules kind of decision as many people seem to think it should be.

Public facilities should be for all citizens inclusive and not just to serve a segment that has a certain belief.

  • @bobster451

ah yes the courts. the system by which single semi-random men alter the law to suit their desires. well, thanks for the explanation.

  • Yes, what has our society came to when our laws or upheld? It's disgusting that we expect people to follow our laws and don't allow people to break them.

  • "Just because one person says you should obey the law set forth in the Constitution..."

I do hate when we expect everybody to follow the same rules, it's just not fair to those who think they're more important than everybody else...

  • Honestly, I dont know why some people care about the reading of bible verses and such. you dont have to listen and you are free to read whatever you want aswell. Also I am an atheist but, I'm Irish and we don't get up in arms over stupid shit

  • @Wholoveschickens What IS harmful is 90% of what passes for entertainment on modern television

  • Just read a different fairy tale lol.

  • Funny how these would be the SAME PEOPLE up in arms if it was say, Muslims or any other religion reading their stories to the towns children.

Look people, go to your church, someones house, or ANYWHERE that's private property and read it there. No ones stopping you from doing that other than your own pride.

  • I can't believe these people don't get it. 1 person in accordance with the law and constitution should have more weight than 10million people who are not. This is a REPUBLIC that is guided by the LAW. Not by the masses. That is why lynching parties are illegal.

  • "We've done it for 22 years..." Slavery was "enjoyed" by the white south for a "few" more years than that. Should slavery continue? Have your bible story, but then don't bitch when the muslims or jews want theirs.

  • What has religion got to do with christmas? christmas is about advertising and selling stuff, not some boring old fiction about some cuckolding wife, three crazies, an innkeeper and a donkey..... in the end it doesnt matter, if these news fossils didn't dig up this nonsense nobody would have noticed, nobody would have cared, even the dude who did the readings didnt seem overly concerned.

  • I love how FOX "news" completely did not mention the circumstances which the Bible reading was held under.

Separation of Church and State is only in effect when the state actually sponsors one religion over the other. Which means everyone have a right to display any type of religious on the same public property, which also covers non-believers and the objections against public holiday displays on government properties.

  • I love that this is happening more often

  • I bet it was on government property or something and they just don't acknowledged that they have broken a federal law.

BTW I thought only Priests gave candy to little kids :)

  • The blonde lady:

"This is where we've come... where one person can call up and make it so that a town can't endorse Christianity."

That's right, you uneducated brat... It's not about what the majority wants. It's about a system formed over 200 years ago that protects us against idiots who want to make state religions. Amazing how someone can sleep through kindergarten, then grow up and make a career out of it.

  • " One person can call up and say: just seperate Church and State, just to be a menace..."

What the fuck this bitch smoking.

  • Were out to be menaces? You have got to be fucking kidding. That's it! I can't watch this shit anymore!

  • So the inability to read a bible verse publicly totally undermines and destroys the entire concept of love, family and community that christmas is supposed to represent? Fox you're the dumbest bunch of stunned cunts on the planet. The biggest hypocrites out there. "We're the only ones who have a right to say what we want! Anybody who opposes our beliefs is impeding on our rights to impede on theirs!"

  • If the US Christian right detests the separation of church and state so much, they should come back to England. Haha!

  • "good morning mr johnson" T__T kill me...

  • This is the reason why mod rule does not determine what is right or wrong.

If that was the case then the african americans that did not even count as a full person, that counted as 1./2 would still not be allowed to have all the rights they now enjoy as equals to all other people. There were/are a lot more "white" people in america then there are "black" so if mob rule was how it worked then america would still have slaves, since the whites weren't too happy about losing their slaves.

  • @rjh00

actually Southern seccesion was prompted by slave states becoming overpowered in congress by free ones, and even in the south no one really LIKED slavery. slavery was always on its way out

  • Why is it FOX News EVERY. SINGLE. TIME?!?!

  • Dont you just love how they invite the guy they agree with on their show, but none from the opposing side?

  • @Kaldmigtue that's fair and balanced for ya.

  • Gretchen should not be on a news show. Reporters are meant to look at things from unbiased points of view and she just can't do it. She is still listening to what her imaginary friend tells her to do.

I guess she is doing something good. Every time she speaks a new atheist is born.

  • Fox are a bunch of satanists who use the bible to kill and murder. Fox is a criminal worthy of nothing but contempt and will be the first to go after the revolution!

  • PRIVATE bible readings.

    Problem solved.

  • The Mafia got a way with murders, racketeering and many other things for years and years. I'm sure people began to enjoy it too. Doesn't make it right.

  • Saying "separation of church and state" = being a "menace"? Really, Gretchen? Upholding the United States constitution is a hostile act, is it?

Maybe you'd be more comfortable in a theocracy like Saudi Arabia, or something. But oops, they've got the wrong religion over there, don't they?

  • Oh boo hoo. There's this thing called freedom from religion. If u wanna hear a fairy tale then u can go to church or open the bible or any other religious text. Why is this even news? Yes of course the town can't afford a lawsuit, but they obviously can't abide by the 1st ammendment either til someone pointed it out to them.

  • Oh this is such a disgrace, now they can't sell their crap in the name of God, what a pity.

  • From now on I shall refer to December 25th at "Atheist-mas." Christianity is now debunked and atheists shall rule the world for six-hundred and sixty-six moons because Christ can no longer be found in the name of a holiday (nor anywhere else).

    Spread the word.

  • Of course they don't go for a law-suit. They know they are gonna lose. And if they think closely they know why it's a good thing that they would lose...

  • Yeah that's how you know if something's right...if you've been doing it for 22 years.then must be right eh?...like apartheid, slavery, segregation, homophobia,no rights for women, sending small children to work in sweatshops,anti-semitism....that woman's intellect is hardly perceivable....

  • It all comes down to whether or not the reading of the Bible is being SPONSORED by the city (i.e. GOVERNMENT) or not. If this is a PRIVATE event, then no problem. If this is a city SPONSORED event, it is inappropriate. Period. It doesn't matter how many people show up or how long they've been doing it.

  • Yes, they do acquiesce to the demands of one person. If they didn't, it would be a tyranny of the majority.

  • @xpntrvfggd Wrong. One person calling the shots is tyranny. Majority calling the shots is democracy. LETS HAVE A TYRANNY OF THE MAJORITY. I'm all for it. It has worked for centuries..

  • LOVE that gorgeous blonde reporter

  • @xpntrvfggd So now we have tyranny of the minority? WTF how does that make any kind of sense in a federal republic?

  • "This is where we've come as a society: that one person can just call up and say ... constitutional right ... and the entire city aquiesces to the demands of one person" Exactly! That's the whole point of America: that the little guy can stand up to the whole mob and win. You don't need loads of money, or a gun or a fancy lawyer, even if you are in the minority you still have your rights.

Its very rarely that this principle is enforced and we should all rejoice the few times that it is.

  • Love it!!!

  • im athesist and think they should be able to read the bible, christmas is a christian event afterall.

  • @Swissarmy48

Hope you like being on the losing side.

  • If you don't like the bible reading, then don't go listen to it! But don't be the one who tries to make things difficult for those who do.

  • to christians: cry a little harder

  • This is the reason why the Founders put religion into the 1st Amendment, to put it beyond the possibility of voting. One person or a thousand, it doesn't matter. You can't vote rights away.

  • i like how she say 1 person can call up and say seperation of church and state..... yes 1 person can call up and say thats not allowed under the law and everyone has to stop doing it!!!!

so what, 1 person rings up and now we cant go around raping children, what a mence that 1 person is

  • @vejbok Exactly how do you equate people freely & legally expressing expressing their personal beliefs (I.E. this bible reading) with pedophillia? this debate has little to do with church-state separation: we're not talking about lawmaking and legislation, If that were the context then you'd have a good point; we're talking about a public celebration and profession of beliefs under freedom of speech.

    Peace, God bless you;

PS. from a christian who believes in separation of church and state

  • Religious fools!

  • Any activity sponsored or funded by a local, State, or Federal agency shall have no ties to any Religion; this is all because of Separation of Church and State, what's so hard to understand?

  • "Can you think of any law?" FREEDOM OF RELIGION!

  • you're a menace because you mention church and state?

  • mmmmmm...gretchen carlson looks so yummy...

  • if atheists don't like the Christian way, they can go screw off. i wish they would just leave us Christians alone

  • @codyjt5150 then why cant the chrstians leave the atheists alone?

  • ...and you indoctrinate the children.

Take your brainwashing, mind-control, child-abuse and SHOVE IT!

  • wow i can't believe that Canada might get it's own version of Faux News

  • @InnerSmile72 Dude that sucks!Assuming u live there, u should fight that cuz I live in America and it pains me everyday to have these uneducated biased morons at Fox claim to represent me.

  • Bible reading has been a "hit"...What a hoot these people are...

  • This is so fucking stupid, whining biased christian douchebags.

There is a seperation of curch and state and so it shall remain. If you want to believe in retarded fairytales you are discqualified in my mind to hold any position of responsibility.

  • The rational is its illegal. If i am breaking the law for 22 years that does not make it right. Separation of Church and State its the law.

  • good for that one person. I take the constitution over "tradition" any-day. God these people are fucking dumb. Tennessee? No wonder...

  • lol. So no bible reading at Christmas? What exactly do you think Christmas is?

  • @MrKli4d

The only reason Christmas is a national holiday is because of secular rituals.

  • @KayleLang centered around and celebrating a Christian holiday.

  • @MrKli4d

I know, but it's the law to remove the religious part of the holiday, or have no Christmas at all.

  • @KayleLang I'd have to say you'd have to separate Christmas from any type of publically owned area unless you're going to allow everyone to express their beliefs in that area.

  • @KayleLang

honestly, capitalism (which drives christmas and other national holidays) IS a religion to many and especially to those free market fucktards on the extreme right so I'd have to say it is VERY religious in nature /sarcasm.

  • @MrKli4d

It's a celebration of the winter solstice that predates Christianity by forever (it's a natural phenomenon). Julius Caesar in 46 BCE established December 25th as the date of the winter solstice. It wasn't until later when Christians were fucking everything up and turning everything pagan into a Christian as a means of destroying paganism that it got it's Christian connotation. Jesus, if he existed, wasn't even born on December 25th. That is what I think Christmas REALLY is.

  • @deavyin The winter solstice isn't on December 25th either. Would you mind explaining further what predates Christians "fucking everything up"? Did the Christmas tree predate Christmas? Gift giving and Santa?

  • @MrKli4d Of course, read some history. The "christmas tree" is pagan as well. It's evergreen because in winter, it's the only evergreen that survives cold harsh weather. In ancient Rome, they used to decorate it with apples. It wasn't until the German Prince took the holiday tree to England in Victorian times, that the tree became "Christmas tree". In regards to Santa, the figure of Odin, a major god amongst the Germanic peoples prior to their Christianization that played a major influence.

  • @MrKli4d Even Easter has pagan roots, with the germanic Eoester goddess of fertility, meaning cycle, spring. So, Christians plagiarize everything, yes.

  • "It's what everyone wants to hear." Define "everyone".

  • Someone needs to educate Gretchen on the origins of Christmas.

  • @Vindaven

someone also needs to educate her on the first amendment

  • The simple answer i would think is that the guy turns up and does the reading anyway, so long as the government isn'tendorsing it.

It wasn't banned the mayor just can't endorse it.

  • "It's what everyone wants to hear"

Read it in your church then.

  • Gotta love these arguments.

"We've been doing this for 20 years"

"They Are Acquiescing to the whims of 1 person"

As if that makes it right. Blacks were pushed to the back of the bus for a long time too. And Rosa Parks was just 1 person.

Does that mean that they were right??

  • 1st amendment creates a wall between church and state. Public schools are run by the state, therefore no religion in public schools.

  • Why can't you fucking religious people keep your superstitious nonsense in your own homes. Why ask non xians to pay for your religious ceremonies. You want that god bullshit? Go to fucking church.

  • maybe cuz 100 percent are NOT religious, let alone Christian, bunch of ignoramouses

  • This sounds suspiciously similar to how some people reacted to the civil rights movement "We've been segregating them on our buses for years and everyone is fine with it and now because of one arrogant woman, they're trying to desegregate the buses. Merry christmas, with Christ, a good old n****r hating, blond haired, blue eyed, American!"

  • This is bull***t, the threat of lawsuit shouldn't be nearly enough to get this removed. I'm borderline atheist, but I absolutely cannot stand frivolous lawsuits where one guy/girl throws a fit and everybody has to suffer. Does it really do anyone harm if the town does this? If you don't like it, don't go, get them to celebrate your holiday when it comes around, but don't be a douchebag and take the fun from the people who do believe it and want to enjoy this.

  • @freakyphysicsguy I agree, this doesn't seem like a very big deal. I doubt the town would stop a Jewish display or recitation; though someone might rightfully argue that the town can't promote one or any religion, if the town is willing to represent them all equally, I don't think it's a huge deal.

  • @freakyphysicsguy However, we also have to keep in mind one of the pillars of American society: protecting the rights of the minority from the whims of the majority. As a matter of principle, it makes no different whether 200 people, twenty people, or one person complains about such an issue: if someone's rights are being violated, the majority has to change so that nobody's rights are infringed upon.

This can seem frustrating, but it's a crucial principle of our democracy.

  • @freakyphysicsguy I somewhat agree. The pig-headedness of many atheists about these issues is somewhat absurd. When it directly involves someone coming up to you and screaming in your face, then take it to court. I.e. Jehovah Witnesses barging in and standing on your doorstep all day. (It happened to me today... was hilarious.)

  • @JuniorDExchangecore State funded religion is not tolerable. It does not have to take any violence for people to request change.

  • @Eron2828 I am not a supporter of either. If someone is going onto my property, and talks to me in a way that I believe is offensive, of course I'm taking the bastard to court. Legal violence, I guess you could say. Also I am an atheist, I seemed a little vague.

  • @JuniorDExchangecore Yea. The "pig-headedness" of atheists is one of the mainstream's favorite stereotypes. I hardly think the label is fair.

Some of these law-suits etc etc can be petty and annoying, but I prefer that to the alternative.

  • @Eron2828 Many or some. :)

  • Pious, self-righteuos, hypocrite Christians!

  • You know, I never thought the day would come that I would find myself defending Fox 'News' or crazy Christians. I'm a strong atheist, but if a small town in Tennessee has a Christmas tradition that involves publicly reading the bible, let 'em read it. Maybe I'm making assumptions about the town's demographics but that one person is kinda being a dick. Of course, the reading could be held in private, but I suspect that would kill their fun. We need to be less petty.

  • Im with you. I am an atheist, and I don't see the harm in this and I think it's sad that the war against christianity or atheism has escalated this far.

  • It's not like they can't do it at church or a private gathering...They don't have to do it at a public/town sponsored event..

How would you like it if your town/city had bible reading with your tax money.

It's this kind of tradition that perpetuates the idea that the U.S. is a Xtian nation.

I'm glad someone had enough sense to call the mayor and put a stop to it.

  • Obviously, they could do it in a church or in private, but put yourself in the position of these Christians. I doubt the reading costs the town much money, and, as to your question, I wouldn't mind a reading of the bilbe on Christmas at all. The bible is one of the most important pieces of literature in Western Culture, and it's especially relevant on Christmas, a time when almost all of us, even non-christians, celebrate the winter solstice. This stuff is bad PR.

  • Im an atheist too, but I dont agree with your comments whatsoever. This reading above all was public reading, not a private reading. The city is sponsering/promoting one religious faith over all others. Why not a Torah reading? a Koran reading? or even Buddist meditations? Why just Bible readings? If this is something sanctionened by the city, then it shouldnt be exclusive to 1 particular religious faith over all others.

Now this would be completely different if it were done in a church.

  • They read the Bible because, I'm guessing, the vast majority of the town is Christian. If that's not the case, then my comment doesn't stand, but I acknowledged that idea in my original comment.

This idea that because America is a multicultural nation, small, bible belt towns should be inclusive of hindus and such, sounds like some PC crap.

I was born and raised in the bible belt, not too far from this town. I assure you, there are more important battles to fight here.

  • "This idea that because America is a multicultural nation, small, bible belt towns should be inclusive of hindus and such, sounds like some PC crap".

    Majority rules then huh?

  • No, that is a false dilemma fallacy. If the vast majority of the town (defined as, say, greater than 95%) is Christian, and the other 5% are a mixture of other faiths and non-believers, and only a small percentage of those people care about the reading, it is obnoxious that they can dictate what the town does. If we were talking about something more important than a Bible reading one day out of the year or if we were talking about a 51% majority Christian town, my argument would be different.

  • Are you kidding me? A town, a city, a state where 100% of its populus pays taxes should never adhere to the religious sentiments of a majority, regardless if its 95% or even 99.9%. That %5, however minuscule in numbers compared to the majority, still has the right to not have their worldviews excluded, dismissingly pushed to the side by the state in favor for the public religious promotion of the majority. Its not a false dilemma fallacy whatsoever, this is democracy at work.

  • It is a false dilemma fallacy to say that there are only two options: read from every text or none at all as if there were no other options. I think you're missing my point though. I'm not saying that the one person in this town is not or should not be legally entitled to impose their will on the rest of the town. My point is that it is obnoxious and petty to do so. Atheists have a reputation for being contrarian and arrogant. This unfocused activism corroborates those stereotypes.

  • Im actually in favor of reading from every text or none if it involves something state sanctioned. I honestly dont know of 3rd option.

I still dont see why you find the mayor's/senator's (forgot which one)decision to remove the public reading in order to make the event more inclusive (or fear of legal action) as obnoxious & petty. It's principle.

As far as atheists having a reputation (or stereotype) of being arrogant, I dont give too much thought on it, as long as whats being done is just.

  • One 3rd option I can think of is that the event include a formal welcoming of people from other faiths while maintaining its decidedly Christian theme. Maybe they could just shorten the reading. Whatever.

I don't find the mayor's decision obnoxious. I find the protests of the caller obnoxious, and I think about our reputation because we live in a political world where mobs of people can latch onto stupidity. I care that it is illegal to hold office in some states if you're an atheist.

  • but we arent a like-group. what reputation ca we obtain when the only thing we as a group have in common is out disbelief in god? you and I having different opinions on this situation demonstrates that. I wouldnt be too worried. Even if an atheist sounds like a dick, therell always be an atheist next to him that will call him one. Will theists not vote for an atheist politician? Maybe not, but if they have a perception of all of us being pricks, its only bcz they have a bigoted generalized view.

  • You're absolutely right that theists who view us in generalized, negative terms are bigots, but I say we take a page from Gandhi, MLK and Malcom X: prove them wrong by being so beyond reproach that such claims appear more and more ridiculous to people who haven't made up their minds.

Also, maybe we should spend more time thinking about how we are like one another. You and I may disagree about this video, but we both seem to agree that homogenized, Christian fascism is dangerous.

  • just a note here Atheists have made up their minds, they don't beleive in god, what you are thinking of is agnostics, and it's more of a lack of substance to believe in than rather a "make up your mind" choice. The fact of the mater in this video is that the town doesn't have a right to cater to any religion regardless of what it's population is. That's illegal to the highest standing document of legality in this nation. Don't start some christmas is a christian thing either because it's not

  • No, I'm not talking about agnosticism. A person can not believe in God without feeling the need to deconvert others. What you're talking about is antitheism. I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm talking about agnosticism. If you'd read my comments more carefully, you'd notice I don't question the legality of the naysayers complaint. I question the fact that he/she and too many people commenting on this video spend their time whining about little things and need to pick their battles.

  • ok while i'll admit that I misread and jumped the gun in regard to the previous statement, however i'll also argue that it's all the little stuff and not just the big stuff that's part of the overall problem. However I fail to see where I said anything of deconverting or antitheism, I misread your comment in regard to making a choice on a deity and refered to that as agnostic, but it's more of a search for truth than anything.

  • Fair enough. You didn't say anything about antitheism either. I was trying to read between the lines in your comment and apparently missed.

You make a fair point about the little things too. The civil rights movement was kicked off with Rosa Parks not moving to the back of the bus. However, I think we do better by ourselves, in terms of little things, when we stand our ground politely, courageously and ethically in everyday encounters with theists (like on youtube).

  • One last thing since i ran out of room... using lawyers is rarely fun. Its sometimes necessary, but there's something weaselly about people who fight with lawyers.

  • well it's part of the way the laws work, you either have to have a new law made per congress or have the judicial system declare it unconstitutional. Either way it takes unpleasant things, you find a way around it, go for it.

  • Cool buddy.

  • They read the bible, because Christianity has had fascist like control over the south for hundreds of years. They still think it is acceptable to force people to pray to Christ in public school; not to their individual god, but to Christ. We are talking about the least educated, most racist, and most easily influenced region of our country. Like stated in the video, they had every right to read their fable in public, as long as tax payers didn't have to fit the bill. Two words: public permits.

  • Haha I love how the banner at the bottom says "True Christmas Story Banned". Not the "traditional" or "original" Christmas story, the "true" one.

Come on Fox News, are you even going to /attempt/ to look like you're not shamelessly pandering to the Christian fundies? I mean, we all know you are, but you could at least /try/ to make us look wrong.

  • the blonde bitch is dishonest and its a joke to refer to her as a journalist.

  • its the law and it seemed like after 23 years someone finally called it out? nothing is stopping those people who gathered from doing it privately so.... whats the issue?

  • Take notes, atheists.

    Fair is fair.

That town is unconcerned with discriminating against anyone who is not a Christian.

It doesn't matter that discrimination is a tradition. It's still wrong.

Should we allow a town to hold KKK meetings - if it was a tradition?

    Ignorant shits.

  • Don't any of the people in government know anything about separation of church and state..? Wake up ... We expect Fox to screw it up... They've been bought out by the religious right... You can't get any level from them... And its not illegal for the KKK to hold meeting... It's just not ok to pillage and burn, like they did in the ol' days... Maybe if you guys read the constitution... Try it.... It is there to protect everyone from the irrationals...

  • The world would be a better place without religion....

  • It would!!

  • "And its not illegal for the KKK to hold meeting... It's just not ok to pillage and burn, like they did in the ol' days..."

You are absolutely correct, but in hybridamerica's defense, I tihnk he/she meant that it is illegal for the "city" to sponser a KKK meeting the way they attempted to do with this Bible preaching.

  • I have Nothing wrong with christianity I just don't follow it, Separation of Church and State Forbids this in Public I ain't saying Practice the faith but Maybe keep it towards yourself, I read the quran to myself and Islam is more real to me then Christianity.

FOX NEWS is not a Real News Orgnaization Its a Hate Group and they get paid millions to spread Hate to everyone else.

Feel sorry for this guy though.

  • christ don't want to be associated with fakeass paganchristmas!

  • a small victory for those of us who find christianity unpatriotic. This post-pagan ritual reading from the Book of Lies is polluting the minds of kids. Keep this nonsense out of the public square and in the church. They do it at publicly funded events and in town squares and they wonder why people object?

  • its the christains fault when this happens. they are too busy feeding their faces to get out and speak up against such evil. If Christ story can not be told then Christmas should not be allowed at all in public. period. the celebration is either going to be shared and acknwoledged about Christ or give it up.

  • If the roles were reversed they would be all like 'ohh it only takes one person to make a stand to make a difference'.

  • "Christ is actually in that word." Wow, what a frigging genius. I don't see babes in microskirts like this on the Daily Show! She looks better than Coulter, anyway.

"TRUE Christmas story banned"--I wonder if the story mentions the pagan holiday the Christians ripped off to make Christmas--I noticed they used the word "Yuletide" and mentioned the Christmas tree lighting.

Those damn atheists are at it again! Why don't they just sit down and shut up?! Because we pay the taxes you're using.

  • All religions or none, none being the secular choice. America finally waking up to the nonsense that is religion.

That woman is so annoying too, "christ"mas ... omg lol,

  • People use to beat their slaves and smoke in theater's too...

Hey..I guess the party is over for theocrats.

  • she is always such a bitch, i want to punch her in the face.

Can't you just see it? the time is 1863 and some dumbass southerner is saying "what the hell? we've had slaves for hundreds of years! THAT's how we know it works!"

  • We should apparently silence the minority/dissenting opinions.

  • xmas..yes XMAS isn't even a christian holiday. it was the roman celebration of the winter solstice

  • I have a suggestion. How about have the celebration but don't make it a town/city thing. Have it done by a Church instead. This shifts responsibility from the Mayor and to the Church itself. A person could hardly sue a church for celebrating one of it's holidays.

  • @TheCheshiresmile9

ohhh yes!! especially if it is done on CHURCH property. now, if it is done on city property, we got you.

  • Belief in an all-knowing, all-powerful supreme cosmic dictator who created the universe is not only very childish and illogical, it's simply ridiculous and highly embarrassing for any serious adult to admit.

The clear cognitive dissonance displayed by followers of organised religion is currently the world's most pressing mental health challenge.

For those ready to seek help, the book The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins may be a good place to start.

  • Regardless, its still THEIR right to believe, and celebrate as they wish...

  • sadly it isn't embarrassing to admit it in many circles.

it's not really a mental health problem because many people don't hurt themselves or others. we can't lock up everybody just because they are delusional, nor should we. only those who pose a threat to themselves or others

  • those god damn founders how dare they come up with the concept of separation of church and state, didn't they know this was a christian nation.

  • Thats Faux News for ya...

  • 1:55 one person can excerise their constitutional rights! and she makes it sound like a tragedy while also complaining about what our society has become. I think she is implying that people are getting educated and it scares her because she is dumber then a box of rocks!

  • lol, it's 'than' not 'then'. now who's dumb?

  • @NegativeNick clearly me, perhaps I shouldn't let my emotions get the better of me when I leave snarky comments on YouTube

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • 2:06 - "for 22 years, this is how you know what you're doing is right" - Slavery in the US lasted for 258 years - is this right also?

  • 22 years everyone was fine with it, so that makes it okay.

Wait, how long were the celts performing human sacrifices? Hm.

  • CHRISTIANS... READ THE BIBLE...Romans 13 tell you whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. FOLLOW THE LAW... even if your little christian brain does not understand why...

  • wow.. one person called and asked that people follow the law.. that is all....

We have broken the law for 20 years... is not an excuse to continue breaking the law..

  • Totally agree.

This is America. Government should not impose religion on people. People can believe in whatever they'd like, but they have no right to impose their religion, no matter how dominant, on anyone else.

  • Imagine reading the story of the nativity at a celebration honoring that very thing. What a novel concept?
