  • I really would advise 8404 HM's to obtain 8427. Think you have to be an E5? The course really makes you prepared for the FMF & covers: Basic Reconnaissance School MOS (0321) (9 weeks) Marine Combatant Dive School (7 weeks) Amphibious Reconnaissance Course (3 weeks) US Army Special Operations Combatant Medic course (24 weeks) US Army Basic Airborne School (3 weeks). I just want you to be prepared having great traing!

  • If you want to violate your humaniterian position- go become a seal! SO-5392 Naval Special Warfare Medic - They are like Rangers and are considered by OUR Rules Combattants... Keerp in mind the training- 24 wks BUDS 28 wks SQT and if a Corpsman another 26 wks.. Otherwise stay an 8404 and trust that Marine!

  • I either want to go Navy Corpsman or Marine technically they are the same.

  • I was the 1st FMF DOC to petition Gen. A.Grey fore the right to carry a 16 at Camp Lej back in 82. Went to the range, qualified with 295 /300. Chief of Staff personally issued my metal and told me I was a gutzy son-of-a bitch. Why did I want to carry an offensive weapon? Cause I didnt want to die at short range with a .45 and I didn't want to see my marines die cause I couldn't reach out and protect them from a distance. SDC, HM2, FMF-USMC. my brothers a the root.

  • @cds119 ,, srry Doc.. No 8404 is allowed to carry any weapon (openly) read between my lines! Gen Gray was a good CMC- he spoke at my young marines 'toy for tots' at a MCL meeting! I know for a fact- he would tyell you carrying anything other then a 45 for self defense violates your humanitarian status. He nor I care that the enemy does not honor such- we do and I did.. BTW, I was with heavy weapons 1/5. I qualed with 5o cals, and dragons. I honor my 8404 regulation.

  • LOL, if it wasn't for the style of uniforms, that could of been me when I was a Corpsman deployed with 2/7 in the 70s

  • Bullshit, I was just in Helmand Province, AFG and no, as a Corpsman you carry a M4, 200+ rounds, and grenades to kill those taliban mofos and when ur marines get hit or step on a IED you're there patching them back up. When ur on patrol ur another rifle out there. The best defense is offense. Your Marines will respect a corpsman whos willing to shoot. And when you step on an IED like I did, they'll be there to save your ass.

  • Shit I retired already. I know the difference between wounding and killing. If you try to take my life, I will take yours. nuff said. I just refused to be issued an M-16. Once you get issued an M-16 as an HM, you are now a combatant and ALL geneva convention protection goes bye bye.

  • @WicasaWakan insurgents and geurilla fighters, nor somalians or vietnamese, nobody america has fought since worldward 2 have given a shit about geneva, i think that was a bad play on your part, not like it helped anything anyways

  • @WicasaWakan Right because all of the towel head jihadists follow the geneva convention

  • @combatswimmer1 .. I think WicasaWakan realizes our enemies do not honor the Geneva Convention. We in the States do however and are expected to maintain higher standards. That is why I treated wounded enemies who were shooting at me- glad they could not shoot as well as the Marines. All US Naval Hospital Corpsman are classified as Humanitarians (except Seals). A humanitarian is afforded special rights. Taking possesion of any fire arm except a side arm violates our Humanitarian status!

  • @combatswimmer1 BTW, I promise you that they do support the Geneva Convention when they are injured and / or captured! Yes, it really is hard to render medical care to those who were trying to kill you! Remember, the USMC is considered a Special Force and ALL Marines must attend SOI or ITS (not sure what its called anymore) I have seen it change three times lol. They are ALL combattants which is why the USMC gets its Medical and Chaplains from the Navy! Not being argumentive!

  • @DOCCAREY I'm not talking about when they're injured or captured. I'm talking about when they're shooting at Marines. You lost me after that though lol. All I'm insinuating is that jihadists don't give a flying fuck about rules of warfare. They use dirty hit and run tactics designed for guerrillas fighting overwhelming odds, which include targeting officers and medics. Can't really blame them, I'd do the same in their positions. For the record all Marines attend MCT not SOI.

  • @combatswimmer1 , I agree! Hey, MTC? WHATS THE ACRONYM stand for? Thinking maybe Marine Combat Training? That will be the fourth time the schools name has changed! I am old- lol! I agree, those dirt bags wont fight by our rules- they never have! They did not in my day as well. All I was saying- we have higher standards (they know it)- we should live by them (at least in public).. lol Just glad you and your friends can vote at age 18- I already had two years in before I could vote..

  • @combatswimmer1 ,, it sucks... I know a nice man a trauma surgeon who had to treat those bast ards who were shooting at us guys! That is what a 8404 USN Naval Hospital Corpsman job is friend! No 8404 is a "combat" anything- ALL 8404's are humanitarians!!!! Thats the US Law and the UCMJ.. Being an 8404 really sucks if you do not TRUST that Marine..!!!!

  • @WicasaWakan thats pretty funny... i dont recall the last time any haji or insurgent played by the rules... better them dead than me...

  • Doc, remember, marksmanship shooting at a paper target is completely different than shooting at a human to kill. Remember the Hippocratic Oath. If you have to shoot in self defense, shoot to wound not to kill. A soft tissue wound can be treated but, the dead can't be revived. However, shooting to wound requires accuracy. You need to realize, there are people in this world that will kill you for nothing more than a thought passing through their mind, they don't care you're a medic.

  • @GTMustangRider I never had to pull anything in two years in country- except a brother into a fox hole. If I had to pull a 9 mill back then- I was already considered dead. Yes, it sucks to be an 8404 Hospital Corpsman who MUST put his TRUST in that Marine! Thats just the law- if you violate it, then face NJP and ZERO veteran benefits "If You Come Home"- Thats IF!! 8404=TRUST.... Better get that one down!

  • Trust no one, admit nothing, deny everything, make counter-accusations. Brought to you by the wonderful U.S. Central Intelligence Agency and our U.S. Constitution. Oh by the way, the CIA likes to recruit Marines to live and work by the aforementioned motto. You still want to write, "must", and, "trust", within the same sentence? Better get that one down!

  • @Stefan19909 I don't know what you think is a prank but corpsman being a target due to the red cross is not funny.

  • "oh stick to my day job ok ill remember that when ur crying like a bitch" lol

    got to respect the corpsman

  • Thank you, all service men and women, because y'all give us the right to do what we are doing.

  • I was a SARC, shot OK but at the end of the day if it was more than 200 meters away, I would prefer to call in the fast movers. Yeah, the red cross was a tough cookie to dip in milk, thank G-d I wore a Boonie cap most of the time and when I did not, the guys would have killed me before making me wear that "find me kill me" cross. I don't sell donughts, don't need to wear it.

  • @88pie88 they took the red cross off bc the enemy would see it and shoot you to stop u from saving another soldier lol

  • lolol thts funny... i could never be a medic, my hat goes off to all of them..

  • haha this is funny :) My husband is a corpsman and shoots better than half his marines LOL

  • makin us docs look bad!! lol. I can tell you from experience, anytime ur on the range, if you shoot better than one 03__, i promise you they will never live it down! Anytime a discussion ensues, just play that card. Automatic check-mate, you win! I actually shot better than half the Co @ a CAX once, including the Co XO. Do us proud! Semper Gumby Devil Doc!

    Doc "Jersey"

    1LAR Bn, CPen

  • LOL i heard one of the guys go HIT ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! lol funny

  • hahaha... well go Navy baby!! HOOYAH :]

  • Blue side or green side?

  • Looks blue side to me - unless that's an amhip frigate.

  • He is with Marines and he is on the ship, and is not wearing coveralls. this would be greenside mostlikely floating with a MEU

  • also, this is obviously a long time ago when we were alot less familiar with weapons (and note the older cammies). I may be wrong but I think the corpsman in this video is now retired Master Chief.

  • @docjimenez08 This isn't an old video, they're wearing MARPAT, except for the guy on the left he's wearing MARPAT, and a vest with the old camo. In the video or video description is has nothing saying that they can't carry or hold weapons he's just saying he's a bad shot.

  • green

  • what's the difference? starboard? port...side? idk...

  • haha Green side and Blue side refers to what the corpsman is a detachment of. Green side means he is with Marines (like out in the suck) and he will rate Marine Corps equipment. Blue side corpsman...correct me if i'm wrong but they pretty much stay on the ships and do their thing on there.

kind of a poor way to describe it but...i dunno im sure maybe an actual corpsman or someone else can do it better i wouldnt really know im a grunt

  • Pretty good description, but Blue side also entails Hospitals and other shore duty activities, since all Green Duty is considered Sea Duty. And some also consider Sea Bees to be Green Duty

  • Pretty funny, atleast you tried. I'm leaving for boot camp in August, MCRD San Diego!

  • good luck. its gonna be hot ass hell. it was hot ass hell when i went in during the summer.

  • this was a pretty funny video. but on a more serious note, I think what you do is awesome. I know most civilians don't show our boys over seas half the respect they deserve but I am not the former. it takes a special person to serve their country and there isnt a good enough way to say thanks for that. much love to all navy corpsmen, marines, and all other service members! and I wish you all a safe trip back home

  • I ship out on Dec '09 as an HM, I'm pretty anxious.

  • During my time in the Marines I made friends with the Docs because nothing hits the spot on Saturday morning like an I.V. LOL Semper Fi Doc

  • yea my pog ass loves that sound

  • I was a Navy Corpsman who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. But who cares. My purpose was to help Navy,Marines etc. in their time of need. I'm proud of my service as a Navy corpsman.

  • Docs save lives.

  • can't always get 'em all, Doc. lol oorah.

  • haha this is great! i've got friends in the marines and they lord their shooting abilities over me :) thanks for savin their lives

  • Thanks!

  • i wish medics now in days used the helmets with the red cross. God ww2 was one of many cake walks i missed -.-

  • Corpsmen aren't medics

  • We took the red cross off for a good reason. Our life expectancy was 3 seconds thanks to that TARGET.

  • totally agree man

  • @WicasaWakan in the pasific yes, but the cross saved dozens of medics lives in europe. they were angles to the soldiers there.german or allied.

  • @WicasaWakan Not only that, if a medic / corpsman wore the red cross now, they wouldn't be able to take up arms (shoot a gun). I've seen some where they are allowed to carry a rifle with the red cross--but that doesn't mean they can fire offensively with the others to help win the fight.

  • @WicasaWakan lol i was about to say that the enemy always took a soldiers life to get a doc

  • @WicasaWakan god i know isnt that sad that they had to take it off hah even in ww2 the germans and japanese would aim for the medic or corpsman and even today terrorist dont give a damn who they kill

  • @WicasaWakan lawl. just a big red cross patched right on the side of your brain bucket... :D

  • since when was wwII a cake walk...have you seen or read anything about it?

  • @88pie88 Christ you must be an idiot...

  • @88pie88 Taliban wouldn't care if you were a medic they don't go by the Geneva convention so Medics are basically large walking targets and draw attention if they have that helmet. Back in WW1 and WW2 it was illegal to kill a medic, or even a paratrooper before they hit the ground.

  • @88pie88 if you seriously believe ww2 was a cake walk you sir are an idiot.

  • @marineaviator2011 its a expression, like who spilled the beans.......

  • @88pie88 Snipers target medics.

  • @88pie88 just imagine an enemy sniper who sees someone wearing a red cross, that's basically a sign saying "I am a medic, please shoot me!" you take out the medic, then there is nobody who can treat the wounded

  • @88pie88 ooooooo? and become sitting ducks?

  • @88pie88 Haha that big ass red cross was Sniper practice for German Snipers.

  • ya my cousin in marines graduated top of his class for shooting

  • You are wrong if you think a Marine by himself is outnumbered.....devil dogz 4 LiFe ooh rahh!!

  • what were u trying to shoot at doc?

  • They threw an ammo can (green ammo can into dark water) and expected me to be able to track it if I didn't see it hit the water. They threw it off the right side, out of my view, and then kept yelling, "Hit it!" I couldn't find it. haha

  • LOL! no sweat..lets just leave all the shooting to the Marines and us Corpsman do what we're good at- saving Marines

  • @WicasaWakan technically its a prank

  • thank you for all you do out thier!! I hope you come home safe and soon!!!

  • hey doc thanks for your help and everything you do a corpsman saved my buddies life out in iraq so any of you wanna fuck with the corpsman your gonna get your ass beat down by the marines!!! semper fi doc stay frosty

  • Nice video, Doc. Thanks for posting it. A friend and I are thinking of enlisting this coming May after I finish college and following the Corpsman path. Have any tips or advise for us? Thanks in advance.

  • If you want to go with the marines so bad then have them write it into your contract or something. Theres penty of pussies that dont want to go with the marines so there should be some slots open for ya.

Remember, be careful what you ask for. War is no joke.

  • What the hell are you talking about dumb ass? I am an 18 yr vet with the greatest fighting force on ths planet. I DO go with the Marines every chance I get. If you aren't a Marine and are calling others pussies, you are a sad, sad, pathetic joke. I am the guy who saves those Marines lives and HAVE saved lives. Get a life or jump off a high cliff.

  • semper fidelis

  • Back atcha. Oorah!

  • wat would be the best route to make sure im stationed with marines? I wanna be a marine but i also want to go to nursing school, so being a corpsman would be the best option i suppose.

  • Become a Hospital Corpsman! It was once said "The Marine Corps has their few good men, they are Hospital Corpsman!"

  • thanks you for the reply

  • I enlisted to be an HM in the navy and i am going to boot camp on feb 23 2009. What's the chances of me going with the marines (greenside)? i really don't wanna go to war. Specially as a medic.

  • Just make sure you go to FMSS school after HM school and your chances are greatly increased. It's difficult for me to answer questions like that since I'm not a Career Counselor. Everyone has different chances and remember, the better you do in school, the better choices you have of commands when you graduate.

  • Make sure you know everything about your contract. I'm sure they will send you with the Marines if you asked to be. Good Luck!

  • should have really thought that through killer, you still have plenty of time though since you are not leaving until 2009. Talk to your recruiter and let him know what you want remember, it is your career not his....

  • WicasaWakan I tried e-mailing you but they always get returned. I don;t think that one works anymore.

  • I didn't put the whole email address so it wasn't blocked by the tube.

  • I was also offered master at arms. Can anyone give me their opinion on which is better as in which one gets stationed to fleet(ships) and which one gets stationed with the marines in Iraq?

  • MA's are for people who wanna be cops. That's it. They go on ships more than anything else.

  • an MA wont see the fleet until you get up to E6 there duties are mostly shore based.

the corpman will be the likely of the two to get attatched to a marine platoon sice they dont have a corpman position in the marine corp. i couldnt see why MA's would be usefull, to a marine batallion anyway, nor have i ever seen an MA with a fleet marine force warfare insignia. i personaly chose the position of MA because of the anti-terrorist training and the A school for the corpman just didnt fit me much

  • I was at Denver MEPS yesterday and also enlisted as a HM. I am set to ship in January 09.

  • Congrats! It's a great rate. They say, "Pick your rate, pick your fate" and HM is great.

  • what kind of corpsman are there i wana join but wana work in the hospital

  • There's really only one kind. There are "C" schools you can go to once you join for more specialized training like lab, xray, cardiology, etc. But they will still rotate every few years between ships, hospitals, marine corps bases etc. No one can stay in just hospitals. you might do 3-4 yrs in a hospital and then you have to change to either a USMC command (small clinic), a ship or airbases. It all depends on what is available when you select orders for your next command.

  • dont call me stupid but want really is a navy corpseman

  • We can do just about anything in th hospital (within reason). I can sew up a cut, put in a chest tube, shoot an xray, shoot an MP pistol, yadda yadda yadda. The army send their medics to one specialty school and that's all they can do. I do it all. I used to run ambulance runs in Norfolk, VA too. I've held someones heart in my hands while it was still in their chest.

  • hey bro i just enlisted as a HM, im on delay entry and not due to leave until january of 09, just wondering what im gonna have to go thru...

  • Send me an email to oily_one@yahoo and put HM school in the subject. I'll be able to explain more detailed.

  • when do you leave..my twin just enlisted like six hours ago as HM he leaves january 28th 09..but i leave august twenty fourth 30 days from now ..SHIT

  • It's one of the most prestigious rates you'll ever know.

  • im shipping in january 22nd of 09 my papers should be done by tommorow. MEPS is fuccin boring... u looking into FMF too?

  • nah i leave in august my twin brother leaves a frew days after you...but i already have been in dep for a few monthsl..im going in as aircrew survival equipmentman..and then later advancing to aircrew

  • Ask your papa?

  • nutted my face, who says that other then queers

  • Oh yeah.. That H always throws them off. :D

  • Don't let numbnuts fool ya. You were right. This is what I posted.

I have spent 18 years with the MARINES. YES...If you go to a uniform store, it does in fact say Hoorah on every USMC tshirt. I have said Hoorah for 18 yrs with my Marines and the Army says some crap like hooah. "Ooorah" is just a slang shortend version the Marines say instead of Hoorah.

  • Two tours with the Marines, best time I had in twenty years in the Navy. I can still shoot 97 out of 100 with a pistol, but they would never let me play with a M60. Ooo-rah!

    Semper Fi!

  • I much prefer the 50 cal.

  • Never got to play with one of those either, though some of the guys were allowed to play with one at the Force Recon base on Okinawa. I only got to watch.

  • You go Doc! Thank-you for your service to this nation

  • Thanks. 2 yrs until retirement! woohoo!

  • I've got five to go Willard. I'm a union electrician in Los Angeles. If you're overseas, let me know. I make world class beef jerky. I'll send you some. Am already sending it to the lads in the 82nd Airborne

  • I'm in DC now. Thanks anyway!

  • W. again respect to you for your service to our nation

  • Corpsman are legit...

  • Hoo-Rah hospital Corps!

  • Corpsman-Shoot first heal second

  • This is my rifle.

There are many like it, but this one is MINE.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life.

I must master it as I must master my life.

My rifle without me is useless.

  • is it hard to become a FMF corpsman?

  • No. As long as you're physically fit and can learn basic comabat medicine, you're fine. I also went to Casevac (Casualty Evacuation) school. That was way shorter and pretty fun.

  • Keep up the saveing lives we need you!

  • Haha. My Doc can shoot, but then again was trained as a USMC sniper before this.

  • These guys commenting all the time how Corpsmen don't do anything aren't Marines. All Marines respect their Docs. Period.

  • fuck yeah, they sometimes hump more than we do.

  • Marines are a department of the navy, the Mens department!

  • FUCK you beat me to saing it!!!

  • sweetie, I know marines that can't handle half the job that sailors do...

  • yaaa go seammen

  • Navys the best, w/o the navy, the marines cant do shit

  • lol

  • ooh lol

  • what were ya shooting at?

  • My god it was such a hard target. We were shooting the ocean. Actually they threw a tiny target, about the size of a loaf of bread and kept yelling HIT IT! I couldn't see the target. :D

  • watever u say Doc,

my cuzin is an HM3 with the 2nd Marine Division and he shoots better then some of the marines
