  • They have Fuel Heaters for this that makes starting up cold easier, looks like its fuel injected so i would look at the injectors for any clogs or gummed up fuel on the tips.

No vw's likes to run cold they all run rough when they are cold but not that bad cause i have many vw engines but they all have carburetors cause i hate fuel injected vw's .

  • The engine looks great!

  • What did you figure out was wrong, assuming you fixed it. I am having close to the same problem even after a tune up. I am thinking perhaps the temperature sensor II for the fuel injection.

  • Its the cold start injector most likely.

  • Why are VWs always stalling?!?!?

  • if that bus got a Carburator, so the choke is the problem mate, check the current on the choke

  • how much is the right current.

  • If it's really a 78 it would have a fuel injection system.

  • I had a similar issue and I did a bit of voodoo troubleshooting with my bus. I changed the thermo time switch, cold start injector and the make sure the air auxiliary valve was not sticking. After that the problem was gone.

  • My type 3 does somthing likes that what was the problem on yours?
