Ups and downs It is life in this world Sad reality While some are being born Others are dying And while some are laughing others are crying Ups and downs It is life in this world Sad reality Some are employed while others are unemployed Then it must be that while some are asleep Others are staying up (keeping an eye on, keeping watch) It is the sad reality But... let us dance together.
They're singing in French, except the "So FIRE" thing ;-)
They are from Bamako in Bali. There they speak Bambara (their songs are written in this language before being translated, at least for their album "Dimanche à Bamako").
My favourite song from them (well, more precisely from him as he wrote it alone is *Beaux dimanches". It's simple but so nice and beautiful.
@bsjunior I wasn't sure and I checked on the lyrics website. That's what I found.
First I rather heard something like "ça ne fait rien" (it doesn't matter), then I also thought about "soul fire" but I thought the website was more right.
I've got the CD album, I'll check tomorrow if there are lyrics of the songs in it.
Can someone PLEASE tell me the name of the other song they did on this episode? I remember the guitar riff clearly, and it's none of the ones in "related" column. Can't find it anywhere!
Amadou and Mariam rock. I saw them live at Lollapalooza and they were fantastic. They inspired a conga line through the crowd during their performance. Most excellent
Ninoninon. Vivan ellos. Sólo de oir los acordes con los que empieza me pongo de muy buen rollo y con ganas de bailar. Me encantan y a todo el que lo enseño. Que los disfruten
Living at the top, or at the low. It's is the life in this world. Sadly the truth it, that it is necessary that others are born and' others die in this world sad truth while others shout others laugh in this world, sad truth .
ooooooooo this is great when i saw them in the program ........................ I thouht they were amazing you know that music flows through the veins and the bass player is great and amadou plays like a guitar heroo yeahhhhh
wow, so inspiring a blind couple straight out of mali singing african blues with all these foreign influences in their music i looove it, amadou and mariam are too cool for school, and them being produced by manu not long ago adds to the flava-mix when are they comin to canadaaaaa!!!!!??

they supported scissor sisters and were sooo boring. im all for world music and all that, but as a supporting act for a group so energetic, they drained our hyperness. an hour and a half of afro-french techno is not my cup of tea...
Supporting the Scissor Sisters, blondefox6?!?! I´d have walked out at the interval! And I agree TOTALLY with wowlman (except I´ve no brothers!) A&M (?) are excellent - and I´m a heavy rock fan!
Awesome. I loved seeing this on Jools Holland at the time, and hadn't thought that it might be on here until just now. This sounds better than the CD version!
It's great when you see something totally different to what you're used to and it turns out to be that good. I am now a big fan of theirs and I have managed to get my brothers and several others listening, which is a success!
it's just beautiful thankxs
