What was the music. Truly great choice. Here's a slightly different perspective. I grew up across the lake on Eilleen Gowan Island. Grew up going to sleep looking out across the water and the Bangor Lodge sign on the building. My dad sold our cottage during one of the real estate slow downs. This video brought tears to my eyes for the lost Muskoka...
I was truly sad making it. We never realized how much we missed it as we were going around the place. All those auction buyers felt like vultures scavenging off what we kept near and dear.
I miss it too! I met my wife there and proposed to her there and spent the best 10 years of my life there.
Jamie, this made me sad...I grew up there. I have nothing but great memories of Bangor (and Canada)- my family loved meeting here. So many friendly people... I wish I could take my kids there...I miss it every time June 22 rolls around. Thanks for making this. S. Berryman
Thanks for uploading this. My family had been going there the first week of every summer since the 1950s. I went there every summer from my birth in 1988 until it closed. Many memories.
Truly the end of an era. I worked for the Siberry's at Bangor from 1977-1981. The memories of those 5 summers are etched in my mind forever. Meeting great friends, late night swims in Lake Muskoka,Thursday night shows. I can't really say in words what this experience did for me. I share this with the hundreds of other kids who were lucky enough to also spend their summers working at Bangor. Tears came to my eyes when i saw this video and what that beautiful place has become today.
Thank you. I spent 10 seasons there from 1990-2000 and a few years afterwards on weekends. It was a great place for me and my friends. It will be missed. Those were nice words.
Hi..Are you one the gents who shot the video? It's funny because i think about Bangor all the time in my mind. I could not think of a better way as a young person to spend summers making amazing friends, experiencing many firsts. After 5 summers i left that place forever changed in a great way. In my wildest dreams i never would have thought that such a historic establishment would look like it do's today. I am so truly greatful to you guys for shooting this video. I am full of happy memories!
We are the same. I have family in Bracebridge and when I went by it for a regular nostalgic visit I took this footage. I thought I would do a tribute vinette for those who cannot see it now.
@willkent08 I must have met you there during 77-81...I was week2 aug. peterperect was what my drunk friends nicknames me.....I miss the place so much..I posted pics at friends of bangor on facebook..you may see your friends there
Thank you Jamie Boyle for posting this video. I vacationed at Bangor for years, beginning in the early 1990s. It was such a wonderful place with fabulous staff, great food, fantastic rooms, and tremendous views. My wife joined me in 2001 and we never missed a year. Sadly, it closed and now the place looks terrible. Only the dance hall is left. The new owners should be ashamed of themselves letting it deteriorate as it has.

Wow . I have heard several accounts of how Bagor looks now but words couldn't of prepared me for that. Such a shame.

Everytime I watch this video I truly miss Bangor. Summer's just aren't the same without the annual trip to Bangor...Fantastic times spent there.

For anyone who is interested, I've created a Group on Facebook called "Bangor Lodge Staff Memories" for old staff to reconnect and post pics etc.
