@GrooveDrummin That's ok. Can you tell me a little bit about your 14 x 8 ludwig coliseum snare? i am very close to buying a 70's one, so i am doing research.
It's a maple shell with 12 lugs so you can tighten the crap out of it. Very versatile, can be tuned low for a super rich tone. Very nice pop to it also...if you have access to one, I'd say buy it. If you don't like it you could always sell it as it would go fast.
I noticed the same. After my 18" crash was stolen after a gig I tried a medium but it didn`t blend with my other cymbals as well as the regular 18, so I traded it for a regular.
I notice in some of your other videos you're able to move the hi-hat and bass drum really well independently and reach your toms without shifting your balance. ie. your setup is very ergonomic. I notice your legs are a big above 90degrees at the knees. Is this due to your seat raised slightly above a normal 90degree position or just sticking your legs out more. I've been needed to fix my balance problem for a while. Also, do you find having your legs so wide apart helps?
My seat is raised high for better control of the bass drum. Buddy Rich used to sit VERY high for the same reason. Have you tried a seat with a back for support? A wider leg stance will help with stability... the reason I do is because this bass drum is big and to get the rack tom to sit in front aligned with the snare you have to move over to left quite a ways therefore the hi-hat stand gets shifted over too.
@GrooveDrummin I'm 6 foot 1" tall. My seat position is positioned so I can get maximum power & comfort. Balance is everything. I too play a 26" kick. My seat position is set so when I play with my toe's (highest foot position) my thighs are about level. A sports doc guru friend of mine suggested that to me when he check out my posturing. I can play a 3/4 hour gig & not have any fatigue problems. The only fatigue I get is packing up & lifting my drums back in the van. I need a roadie!! lol
Yeah, that part I never liked much either...having a huge kit back in the 80s didn't help.
I find if I sit too low I find that my leg gets very tired and sore right under my knee. I always suggest to lift your chair so your leg is past 90 degrees or not parallel to the floor but slightly angled down towards the bass drum. Main thing really is to be comfortable... so to each his own :)
@GrooveDrummin Thanks for the feed back. Since I posted I've experimented with wider legs and have definitely found more stability and have been able to do intricate patterns between hat/bass without loss of balance. Never tried a throne with a backing.
I use the M-Audio Profire 2626 rack mount interface. This unit allows for 8 separate mics to be connected then recorded individually into the computer. I use Reaper multitrack software.
An unfinished basement 7' concrete plus 3' wood framed and insulated knee walls so I have 10' ceilings here. Room is 35' x 55'. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Mr.DZ- Thank you so much for taking the time to break down Bonzo's signature stuff. You do it with such professionalism and accuracy. It makes it alot easier to understand where he was coming from, for example, the left hand leading on the descending triplets. that's something I never noticed until now...VERY COOL.
Your lessons will definitely improve my drumming. Thanks so much brother.
Ahh hell, I stopped watching John Bonham and started watching your videos lol. I think you and John Bonham may be my influences lol! How many years have you been playing drums mate?
Truth is i listened to zep but also listened to purple, cream, hendrix, maiden, priest and on the flip side I always liked my jazz such as buddy rich, gene krupa, billy cobham. I never really say "studied" bonham but my style has evolved into his mostly because of studying the carmine appice books back in 1977.
@GrooveDrummin Wow what great influences!~! All of which are awesome! I have widened my view on who to study into Blues, Jazz, Bonham obviously lol, and Big band era style drumming.
Hey man! I am uploading some videos of me drumming. I have only been solidly drumming for four weeks. So if you could check them out and let me know what you think, I would greatly appreciate it.
