  • amazing dood. i liked all the effects. but the guitar one could of had more of a delay to it. it sounded more like a piano then a guitar. other then that though this kicks ass. good job.

  • How does it feel. to treat me like u do :) you are magnificent..ill be watching more of your vids tomorrow.its 5 am here now LOL.. Question: What kind of piano is that ? I am totally enrolling my son to learn how to play the piano. thanks for inspiring xx

  • I love the Emulator Chior sound, did you sample this from New Order. I also remember my Roland D10. All the patch buttons got a liitle tempremental. Good Memories. Im using Reason 4 now!

  • awsome you are great, you get a new phanatic

  • Awesome dx5!! i wish i have all those hardwares that u have!! but i got the next best thing....vsti's!!! but man u blew me away!! keep it up dude!! can i audition for vocals?? yo da best man!

  • Very cool man!

  • Question for U...would you make a CD of some of these for sale? I want these in my car!:)

  • @maryamchijan I haven't plans of it by the moment, but thanks for your interest. Anyway there will be news at the end of the year. Not exactly what you want, but something related

  • This rendition is much better than your updated version. Please keep them coming.

  • you made it look so simple, i love the sounds

  • Shows how the quality of synths have gone down, this guys good but is so limited by his synths and their probably close to the best thats available today, nothing compares to analog!

  • @1980MF1980 Of course, a real Voyetra Eight or SCI Prophet 5 would be pretty much better , but they are really expensive on the second hand market.

Anyway, the D10 and the Emax are from 1985-86 approx. The emax even has analog SSM filters (as Polysix) and a VCA for the output. Anyway, not VCO's here.

  • @1980MF1980

...quality of synths have gone down? you can pick up something like a moog slim phatty for a steal these days. and his jp sounds great here. i think the only synth here you can be ridiculing is the d10, and mostly only for its drum samples (but not like the old analog kit had any).

  • @evilsnakes1 They sound good for modern synths, but really the old analogs had so much more power to there sound, listen Vangelis or 80s music on a good system and you'll see these sound good but are really mellow versions of the real thing

  • "probably close to the best thats available today"

...wrong. again, the d10 is 25 years old, pcm sample based, so wasn't even trying to sound analog and so makes sounds that analog can not (albeit dated). the emu is just as old and it isn't even a "synth", despite its analog filters.

the only modern synth there is the jp, which is 15 years old and awesome as hell (yes, i have one). further, you can still buy analog synths today, cheaper, that sound just as good and actually stay in tune.

  • 2. What you said is that old synths are better, and i am saying they are not. If you are saying that analog synths are better, I say that they make pure analog synths today that are better than those synths of old in every respect except notoriety. Explain to me how a Minimoog Voyager is not as good? Maybe what you mean is "they don't make them like Vangelis anymore" :)

  • 3. I'll go as far as saying what they managed to do with digital synths in the 80's was truly astounding, especially at its price point for consumers. Today we have soft synths that sound just as good as their hardware counterparts, but back then, pc's were far behind the power of the synths of the day. Hell, i used to sequence on a 286 and it was impossible to get decent timing. The synths, on the other hand, were very reliable. The d10 and emax have a strong place in music history.

  • @evilsnakes1 Yes I'm no expert on synths, just know that synths I've heard on albums from the 70s and 80s (Rush, Vangelis, New Order, OMD etc.) sound so much richer than this or on recent music, I do however think the synths on early 2000s trance music sounds awesome (Ian Van Dahl like stuff), and I have yet to find synths richer than what I hear on Vangelis records. It seems I always find better sounds on older music, if theres cpu or new cheaper synth that has Vangelis sounds I want one!

  • OMG! Totally reliving the 80's

    I love it!

    Now I want a keyboard =P

  • ok... you botched up the snare thing, but i would book you as a musician for any party anytime.... thanks for all the great covers (specially the dm covers :o))

  • Bass line is not quite right, don't take offence. Good effort otherwise, but please change that horribe slap bass during the middle eight.

  • Best

  • great !

    Stay tuned.

  • Hey, i'm a electronic drummer and i have a lot of Simmons stuff! We could play together on-line XD

  • Hi warp. Thanks for all your comments!.

I was checking the SIMMONS SDS 8 this afternoon. It sounds amazing. I just only have two triggering pads. I will use them as Peter Hook used to do and will upload a new cover soon.

    Best..

    DX5

  • I think the original sounds were from an Oberheim DMX.

  • Most of it was done on the fairlight, the chourus sound was a sample from Kraftwrek's radioactivaity.

  • actually this track was done using a sci prophet 5, a moog source on bass, the strings and gregorian choir samples were from the emulator library sound disks, oh and oberheim dmx on drums

  • you are my master;]

  • mitico!

  • Bravo! Bravo! How long did it take U 2 put together??

  • That sounded great. Are you familar with Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order? Would you be able to do a version of that?

  • That's brilliant! One of my all time favourite songs. Thanks!

  • I can do that but I don't wanna;-)

  • Hey,great track, I just keep waiting for the vocals to kick in, you should colaberate with a singer and make a complete track, unless you are doing an instrumental, musicians have made some great instrumental tracks, ie, The shadows, etc, anyway good track!!

  • Drums are coming from reason Redrum, hooked to Pro Tools in Re wire mode.

  • Dicken, Hook, Morris, Cunningham, & Gilbert must be proud of your version at one of their finest tracks!

You seem to always out-do-yourself, always setting that proverbial bar that much higher; that is what I like to see in an artist/DJ.

Even in raw form (no final production due until retail), I give this piece a $19.75/$20.00 (which in my books is an extremely high rating).

Keep up the FANTASTIC work my friend!!!

    Respects,

    DJ MARCUS Van STEUR

  • awesome :)

  • great stuff man! you are great on the keys! good job!

  • this version kicks ass.

  • The choirs on the original comes from kraftwerk's uranium. The drums on the original are a DMX.

  • Blue Monday is recorded in 1982 and originally released as a single in 1983.

In 1982 DMX was 12 years old.
