Nice work! You have some mad skillz. You took a lot of risks that I would have just used a snooze for. Do you remember if you get extra points for snoozes remaining? You cut off the "Mission accomplished! Connngratulations!" part, too. I was hoping to see that again.
THANK YOU, i have just seen the key to solve the last C64 game i never ever got through- and believe me i have played IMP Mission so many times i cant renember - but that system with the puzzlebricks there havent i seen coming.
So, what exactly are you supposed to do with the puzzle pieces? I mean, I can tell that you're basically supposed to combine them together so that it's a "full" rectangle, but does it matter which color you make them? And if so, how do you know? And it's hard to tell, but are you rotating the completed puzzle like 8 times, or are you doing it only a couple times and then it beeps at you like 3ish times so you know you're right? I just love this game but it confuses me lol.
The ending is typical for most computer games. The developers spent so much time with the game itself and it shows. For the time, it was original and fun to play. However, like with most developers, the rush to get the game on the market over weighs the storyline and what you get is ," No No NO!!!" It would have been cool to have a battle with the mad scientist. perhaps he was even protected with some new robots too. Sad that it ended the way it did.
How did You know what to do with the puzzle ? What had You to do :) ? What was the solution ? To fill the rectangle up ? Never found out...ok...i had an illegal crack of the game...no handbook.... :)
The ending is awesome just because of how hard it was to figure this game out by yourself as a teenager or preteen. Well, I never did beat it at the time, but I didn't own C64 so...
The ending is a bit disappointing indeed. I enjoyed playing the game though. Still, there's one C64 game which I've never been able to complete (along with those that had no ending and just went on). The cruel, unfair and endlessly frustrating WIZARD'S LAIR. Perhaps Saxxonpike is skilled enough to do it (hint, hint;)) I know I'm not, unless I'm willing to die at young age due to a heart attack.
That's...that's all you get when you win? That's IT?! OK, I'm not sorry I never beat this game now. (I did not have any documentation/instructions, just a copied disk from my uncle.) Thanks so much for putting this video up; I had some great memories and it was fun to "backseat jump" a few times. lol
My God! That was the ending to this game! All those hours I played this game as a kid and that was it, hahahaha. Oh well, it was a classic game that I can still remember playing so vivdly 20 years laters. "Destory him my robots!"
Yeah, it made sense ... once you figure out the password, complicatedly, what's left? BigComputer #1, BigComputer#2 or that door/cabinet thing in the middle of the map?
Attention spans aren't what they used to be.
They weren't what they used to be, neither ... yuk yuk yuk.
I'm kind of amazed at the amount of people saying they never saw the ending and now they have are saying its a disappointment. As one of those who would keep playing this game over and over, when you did beat it and you heard the cries of no,...no,...NOOOO, it made the ending so much sweeter. Looking back I guess all the more so cause you knew so few others had seen it. 2nd game I ever completed (after wizball).
.....*SIGH* I wasted how many hours of my life trying to beat this damn game...and this is what I get? The dude says no 3 times and that's it? Sheesh. Still a great game though
Yeah the ending really sucks, BUT! I'd still take a good fun, time consuming game with a crap ending to a poor game with the greatest cinematics ever.
Lol ha ha ha ha ha, I've ALWAYS wanted this game, I remember seeing it for 5 minutes once, and I had no idea it was this in depth. After all of that... you get this ending? ha ha, wow, I'm lol.
Yeah I spent 4 years trying to clock this fucken thing, then finally. Elvin Atombender is a motherfucking legend with his volt spraying robots, I felt a bit sorry for him.
Thanks for sharing this with all us thirty somethings who spent hours and hours on this game. I managed to complete this game only the once back in the day (and Bruce Lee too) and was absolutely chuffed to bits!!!! An absolute classic! Cheers:)
I believe when you go in there, the computer will play back notes for you. You must play them back from low to high in order of pitch and you'll get a password to turn off the robots (I think...)
Glad to see it is beatable. I've been trying on on off for nearly a quarter of a century to beat it and still have never seen the end until now. I'd always end up missing a couple of pieces and run out of time. Impressive work.
Rofl! I just burst out laughing at the end of that. Thats the worst ending to a game ever. I know it was the 80's but come on, seriously! That whole arranging the pieces together doesn't make any sense. How are you supposed to know what goes where?
I had this game too, but had no clue had to play it...I would just jump around and that stupid globe thing would always kill me when i would be searching. Please explain how you play this game again, refresh my memory.
You jump around in these rooms to gather the colored puzzle pieces being assembled in this part of the video. You then have to take those pieces and arrange them to fill a complete square - once for each of the 8 letters of the password. Once you have the password, you go into the control room and are welcomed by a... relatively underwhelming ending :P
Oh man. I used to love this game. I'd play it with a poor monochromatic monitor, so there was very little hope of me ever beating the game... and seeing this horrible ending. Life is very cruel.
I got old playing this!..... great game... hats off to Commore computers!

I knew this was a work of Epyx, judging by the character animation :) (used to play Summer & Winter Games more often)
Fabulous stuff all in all, and these oldie classics would make great handheld titles as remakes.

he prob. finds "normal" games too staightforward, the same way some people love momento and understand it totally, and others find it to twisted.
Like me, I find this game too twisted, but I admire people who can actually solve it.
Maybe he's a frustrated genius, not mentally ill.
