  • I MISS CONRAIL X`(

  • My teacher said this was one of the 3 places hitler wanted to blow to hell and back, b/c this was a way they supplies coke and coal to pittsburgh for steel

  • 3:00 the high pitched squeal drowns out all the others sounds lol

  • I remember seeing this very curve back in 1951 as a little kid on vacation with parents...thanks for posting video clip !

  • WOW!!!

  • Git-er-done

  • Hated to see Conrail go, but I'm so glad the ex PRR didn't go to CSX....they wouldn't have been very good at running a railroad like this with heavy grades and high train density. Norfolk Southern is a much better railroad than CSX, hands down.

  • whers THE GRAFFITI?! BEST PART OF TRAINS IMO

  • LOVE HSC!!

  • like 3 of those cars make 1 whole car, that's so cool

  • Intermodel cars are so cool and weird at the same time also,

  • ok, i was there today, and i was wondering, i noticed on the NS hopper cars, they say "Top Gun", could any body explain to me what that means?

  • It actually says "Top Gon". Those aren't hoppers, those are gondolas. They look very similar, but hoppers have triangle-shaped "discharge chutes" that dump the coal. The gondolas have a "gullet" on the bottom, and are emptied by being turned upside down. They do look similar, though. My mom also thought that they said, "Top Gun" when she first saw them. Hope this info helps.

  • i havent seen it so lush since they cut down all that it looks beautiful! looks like NS does what they do best here at the curve showing off to railfans such as us!! to see an NS coal coming up that fast he must've came through Rose Interlocking with a All Clear and probably got a head start on the hill with some units added on at Rose Interlocking you should've done a video at the Galitzen Tunnels awesome spot to see! nice job! Once in Pittsburgh NS has 3 different lines following the Rivers

  • thats true i live exactly 2 hours from here and i go just about yearly and its a beautiful place!!! i love this video!! The Amtrak 3 Rivers doesnt go through there actually it goes from Pittsburgh to Cinninati then to Chigaco and Back but they do run a daily 4 car Amtrak Train lead by 1 P42DC its a nice thing to see!!

  • that was awesome 5star.i have never been there.but would like to go.

  • it is a nice place to go if gas prices keep dropping maybe you'll be able to go its a really nice place to go i go just about yearly its only 2 hrs from me so its easy for me to go there

  • lucky! never been there! maybe one day...

  • Geez that is THE perfect meet if I ever saw it!! Do you know, which trains are "climbing" and which are going down-grade?? First train (west) had helpers so thinking that one may be "climbing"?? What a great spot and awesome video!!

  • The train going from right to left is climbing. That was a great meet, but he has another one which isn't posted yet, which includes a third train. It happened a little later in the day. I just happened to be there at the same time as he was (in his other Curve video I'm the one in the red t-shirt.

  • I saw that vid with the 3-train meet. Totally completely awesome!! Are you from this area and get to go here a lot, or was it a trip sorta like BJ? This is absolutely one of my very favorite spots I have ever seen (for trains)!!

  • Terrific spot for everyone . . . an exceptional spot for a hardcore railfan like you! Thanx-a-lot & Good Luck for the rest of your East Coast trip. Lookin' forward to seeing more.

  • sweet video 5 stars,

  • sooo lucky!!! it has always been my dream to visit there but just havent had the time or money now of freaking gas prices, but do you know how many trains a day?

  • he probably went on the Horseshoe Curve site PM if you want more info

  • Ahh the sound of the wheels grinding against the rails... heard that sound every summer for 7 summers straight :)
