Good review nice gun- I have 3 1911's in 9mm .40 and 45 cal I recently put on layaway a P220 SAS compact two tone- my last SIG was a P239 in 357 sig another gun I'm sorry I sold love the DA/SA system can't wait for my new P220
"If it aint cocked and it aint loaded it don't shoot"....I always carry my side arm with one in the chamber...that's my legal right in AZ...every second counts in a crisis...proper training and safety knowledge are more important than your weapon not being loaded
Any intelligent person will keep a PD pistol in condition 1. Also, any intelligent person will not put their hand in front of a loaded gun's barrell and pull back the hammer. Safety still matters in Youtube videos. You would be kicked off any reasonable shooting range for this wreckless handling of a loaded firearm.
I love how everyone is giving you shit for having a round chambered. WOW! What the fuck do you think a firearm is used for!? Did anyone see any children around, or criminals, retards, nuns, liberals, uptight shits. No. Just Tom and his Sig. Fucking safety police. Please go suck start a shotgun.
@DuckDitch agreed. he clearly knew what he was doing. he checked and made safe the weapon. Liberal fags need to stfu. i have a loaded gun right next to me right now.
Wow major loss of credibility about that weapon with you having a loaded magazine and one in the chamber for a you tube video. I mean if you are going to tell us how or what the strong features are of this weapon you should at least yourself know how to handle it safely. I really think some people should not own firearms because they make silly mistakes that give safe gun owners a bad rap.
@sportmedtech he clearly checked, and made safe the weapon before he started messing with it. Maybe its his carry gun and its always loaded except for the video purpose. don't be so quick to judge. he did check it and mentioned before hand that it was in fact loaded.
@sportmedtech I think dropping the mag and racking the slide to clear the gun IS safe handling. Makes no difference if it's done before or after the camera starts rolling.
i have lived in yuma my whole life...the police here do not carry nor have they carried a .45 in my life time...and i am 20...but i do have the exact same sig 220 as you...i havnt gotten to shoot it yet...but i just did a full strip...and im putting it all back now...i shot one at spragues in the past and loved it...and when i saw mine in they used cabinet for 500...i couldnt pass it up
@scrateshooter i talk to them almost every day...i havnt seen one carrying a sig yet...ive seen berrettas and 1911's...but no sigs...i live here and i and friends with alot of them and i shoot with them regularly...they dont have sigs for duty...just personal use
hi, can you explain to me why you had to pull the trigger to safety check it? was that a half pull? ive never handled a p220. i know the p220 doesnt have a traditional safety like a trainer gun would so why didnt it go off? im trying to become more familiar with the p220 because im looking to own one. thanks!
I've an old German P220 (1993) K-Kote and I love it. It's been in the safe for over a year because of the .45 acp ammo shortage. If the ammo comes back she'll be back in action!
True, the "lazy" press check is not safely possible with the SIG as it is for the M9 and 1911. You don't want ANY part of your body in front of the muzzle while manipulating a weapon.
Tom what an idiot, duh holster wear it is a used weapon, what Tom knows what the Yuma police should carry? Who cares what Tom has, I did not know Tom was a SIG expert.
@scrateshooter according to gto3440 who have lived in yuma his whole life states the following: "Yuma police do not carry this weapon" so Tom who are we to believe? Or did you stay at a Holiday Inn in Yuma? And as far as seeing your penis, i congratulate you, I myself know i have a penis so i do not need to keep looking at mine.
I just traded my Kimber TLE for a Sig 220 w/ night sights. I love 1911's. I have owned many over the years and have had jams w/ all. Not bad, but enough to make me want to trade for another. (I get to where I don't trust it) The Kimber was a tack driver and smooth, but I experianced a few jams with it as well. I haven't had any issues yet and haven't read about one bad thing or jam w/ the 220. The 220 comes close to the feel and operation of a 1911 and I also like the DA/SA of the 220.
ahhhh anyway, maybe I should have cleared the firearm or better yet, discussed the procedure before letting the round roll away on the kitchen table, anywayyyy.
I think the 1911 is a beautiful gun, I don't know a gun enthusiast who wouldn't want one. BUT all the 1911 zealots out there need to calm down it's not the perfect gun for every person or for every situation.
I've an older W. German P220 made in 1993. K-Kote. I bought it new. My best .45 ever.
I think the older Sigs are exceedingly better than current production models. The sweet spot for Sigs seems to be the period from the late 1980's thru the late 90's.
I love my 220R,not one hiccup, not even during break in. I carried a USP 45 for years, and can shoot the SIG WAY more accurately somehow-it just works for me.
I got too many in my possession. I could no longer justify to buy another one. Very accurate, well-made from the factory. Very simple to operate. The last but not least, the person holding it has to do he's part in order for this handgun to work well.
I am a fan of the USP 45, but my hands are size 9-10 and the grip is a little large for me. The Marines and Army use the 1911 to great effect so training does much to overcome the capacity issue.

Even though you cleared the chamber, sweeping the muzzle past your head while the breech is closed is a really bad habit to get into (IMHO).

Son,
The Yuma Police Department issues the SIG P220 and Yuma County Sheriffs Office authorizes 1911 style .45s for carry. Open your eyes or ask a LEO.
