  • in the first method, does the RCA quarter inch adapter have to be MONO? (i have a STEREO adapter)

  • have fun with being a douche

  • sir...what if my electric guitar is grounded...????

  • for some reason i cant hear my guitar but when i want to record but if i play it and record what i played i could hear it...HELLPP!

  • I only hear it through my left headphone pad thing?

  • Does this software work for windows 7 64 bit?????????

  • Hey man, I have a quick question. I would only be able to play with a clean sound because the plugins didn't seem to work, so I had to plug in an fx processor to the interface. I didn't really like the way that sounded, and after seeing the demos here on youtube, I'd really like to use the amp plugins. What do you think the problem could be? Thanks.

  • how do i do it with a guitar cabel that plugs into a usb outlet?

  • does this work with an acoustic guitar that has a pickup?

  • I did everything you said to do in the USB plugin part with my digitech rp255 and there is no audio going in, and im wondering why?

  • Can u use the rocksmith real tone cable?

  • i have a 1/4 jack to USB cable the cable is reconized on mixcraft but my guitar is not playing any ideas on how to get it to work?

  • what about the white cable of the rca?

  • i dont have any effects

    :(

  • If you're new to this remember to get a nice full 'more professional' sound you'll need to do a little experimentation and effects mixing etc. That and the fact that unless you're using backing tracks it's going to sound a little dull and flat anyway.

  • I am new to all this but by your explanation it seems that using the audio interface reduces the amount of latency in real time playing. Is this so? Thanks.

  • just wonderin if you could help me, i have a peavey vypyr amp and it has an output for a usb cable, so i tried it straight from the amp to the computer usb port on audacity and it sounded awful with the latency you mentioned. i don't know what im doing with the recordiing stuff or how to do it so im just hopin you could tell me some of the best ways i should try to record my guitar onto the computer

  • Sexy guitar!!!!!

  • why would i want to use RCA?

  • i have it connected and it plays but it sounds really bad. like buzzing and half the notes go threw at a really low volume

  • I cannot follow the tutorial because I don't have the equipment needed..But I think of something else..Can I record my track with a USB microphone to Audacity and then "put" the recorded track in mixraft? please help..! thanks..!!

  • When I connect my guitar into my laptop it sounds good but when I use "Shred" it sounds horrible why is that? It doesn't sound good as it should sounds. How can I fix this?

  • brother how i can i connect both guitar and mic...and how would they work together??

  • where can i get the adapter?

  • when i am cheking ASIO i cant record .. ? i mean mixcraft dont detect my guitar

  • Thanks bro. .Detailed clear and it works.

  • What also works is if you have an ipod with irig, plug your guitar in that, and use a cable to connect the irig to the microphone slot

  • Sir, will you give me the size of the cable adapters needed to do this..

I Only have a guitar jack.. Thanks.

  • Thank you so much, I used the interface it works like a charm thank you so much again.

  • Wow look's amazing, please can you post link for mixcraft 5.

    thank's.

  • Wow amazing,Helpfull,Can i please get the link for mixcraft 5.

    thank's.

  • I use a bheringer USB guitar link 49:00GBP, it works great and has an internal asio driver, it's perfect and well worth the money.

  • I used a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter, but it shocked me when i plugged my guitar into the comp. What should I do???

  • which internal or external not too expensive sound card would you recommend ??

  • Can you connect using USB cable from pedal?

  • can you give me an idea if how to record without any noise?, i know bout noise reduction in mixcraft but still theres a lil bit noise, is it in a mic? or place where im do recording or in the audio card that im using?

  • @KathyZapp ya dude. you might have like, mixcraft..... whatever. or a demo version. idk. but also props to Acoustica222 and the acoustica company. i got mixcraft 5 and i am STUNNED at how simple it is to record, plus i am a noob.) so it's great.

    THANKS TO YOU ACOUSTICA TEAM!!!!!

  • When I select monitor incoming audio there is a delay what should I do to hide it:?

  • it doesnt allow me

  • On the website it says Audiogram 3 works with mixcraft, would audiogram 6 work with it as well? please answer!!

  • awesome!

I want to use my effect pedals like the RP355 and other ones

would I just connect it in between the interface and guitar like I would with an amp and guitar?

is this method the same when using the midi interface? I have a microkorg synth keyboard and electric drum, simmons sdmk4 to be exact, and I want to be able to record those instruments

thank you so much for you help! definately subscribing :D

  • why didn't you just skip the rca part and use a 1/4" to 1/8" cable???

  • how do i unlock the mp3 file when i mix it down to mp3 format?

i get a lock icon on the side of the mp3 file and it wont let me play the mp3

please help if you can ,thanks

  • I currently have a Cakewalk UA-1G usb interface. I actually dont have the option to 'Monito Incoming Audio'. All that i see on the menu is 'Recieve from All MIDI Channels' and different channel options. I cant hear playback within any MIDI channel, and i hope someone can help me out.

  • @ArtistChaosInc oops figured it out already. Just had to mess with prefrences and actually getting into the right settings in the program.

  • I downloaded the Asio link and nothing happened.

  • My Mustang II Amp has a USB. Will that work?

  • Mixcraft rocks and the amp sim is on par with dedicated modeling software. Just a quick tip for fellow newbies;

I had a problem with clean tone bleeding in and wrecking distorted sounds, but I found that turning Playback Volume to zero (in the Realtek HD monitor) got rid of it.

Make sure to turn off all the stupid effects that Realtek comes with also.

I can't believe I'm getting 3ms latency plugging right into my laptop. =D

  • how plug in a keyboard to record?

  • Does a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter work?

  • gay guitar

  • I've tried your first method but I can't see Realtek HD Audio Input...

  • When I connect my guitar and try to play and record there is some kind of annoying noice as if something is wrong with the cables or something..Any idea what it is?

  • I have the Presonos audiobox USB input, and it won't record. I tried to change it in preferences, and I can select ASIO or WaveRT (tried both) The problem is, it only lets me select "midi" in the "arm" option. It has two midi inputs in the back, but I am the guitar hook ups in the front. Is there no way I can arm the front inputs, or does it only work with the midi inputs in the back?

  • Is that a Peavey Vandenburg you're playing?

  • @KathyZapp Are you sure you are running Mixcraft 5? The option is on the menu when you click the arrow next to the arm button.

  • you are a genius

i've connected my piano with mixcraft 5

    thanks of all

  • I love you. I will buy this program now because I can finally hear it from my speakers lol.

  • I was looking to be able to play my guitar on my stereo reciever while using mixcraft. I have a 1/8in to rca cord to get sound from my computer to my stereo, and i was going to pick up a 3.5mm to 1/4in adapter to get sound from guitar to pc. Is this all I would need or will I need an extra sound card or something? I have a roughly 2 yr old hp laptop with 2 audio ports on the front. (1 mic and 1 headphone)

  • @EGCxSplifchief That will work, input to the sound card, output to the stereo.

  • @acoustica222 what best

guitar => amplifier => computer or guitar => computer

  • @jkaiser193 It depends. You'll need to select it to record from on your recording arm arrow drop down next to the "Arm" button. Watch the video called "Optimize Your PC For Use With Mixcraft" .

  • i used a guitar cable and a 1/4 to rca adoapter and it's not working

  • @theqrokz The input on your computer is 1/8 inch, you'll need to adapt from your 1/4 inch guitar cable to 1/8 inch. If you can get it plugged in, it will work. Make sure your recording device settings are correct when you arm a track.

  • Guys when did you connect the guitar to computer for the first time..

That's weird I've always recorded with a regular mic

  • @princeicio Yes I do too, but a lot of people want to connect directly so we did a video for it.

  • @marcoamac thats awsome brother blessings from palmdale CA!

  • it is not working..i hear guitar on the speeaker but i cant record anything????

  • will laptop work?

  • that audio interface shown on the 2nd method,, is it tolerable enough in recording? in MIDI? thanks for answering

  • Anyone having latency issues see the video titled "Optimize Your PC For Use With Mixcraft "

  • Sound card you mean plugging it inot the computer as well ?

  • @realjuvelive On the back of your computer are microphone, line in and speaker output jacks, thos are connected inside the pc box to what is known as a sound card. On laptops, there are usually microphone and headphone jacks, no line in.

  • @marcoamac are you christian bro?

  • What do you mean by soundcard ?

  • that asio4all driver fixed all my audio-problems, THANKS! :D

  • @Levygerards1 Use the first method shown in the video.

  • @marcoamac Yes both methods use the "shred" amp simulation plugin which comes with mixcraft. The difference in sound on the video is due to the 2nd method being heard through the headset I am wearing, and the 3rd method being heard directly through the computer to the video recording application.

  • i have a guitar a lead and a computer will that work??

  • @xmaxima1 Yes that would be the first method shown here in the video.

  • If you aren't hearing anything...try turning up the volume knob on your guitar! That's what I was doing wrong.. Doh!

  • Do I need anything else + the guitar/cable/and the adapter to plug into computer ?

  • All what I have:

    1-Classical guitar

    2-adapter

    3-cable for the guitar

    4-and computer of course

Can I go with that ?

  • @realjuvelive Certainly, plug the cable into the computers line in or microphone input.

  • when i record with my plugged/in guitar on mixcraft, there is a background noise.. as if i record the sound with a mic.. i really don't know what is the problem

  • I do everything METHOD 1 says, and then i hear a high volume noise from my speakers.. so loud i hav to turn them off.. what is the problem?

  • @Perocg Probably a grounding issue. If you are using a laptop, try running on battery power since laptop power supplies are not grounded.

  • Comment removed

  • @acoustica222 i use a lap-top, with battery, and that happens all the time

  • @Perocg The try it with the power supply, also try using a ground lift on any hardware you have connected to the laptop.

  • Hi, first of all, thanks for the nice tutorial, but I'm having some problems.

I tried connecting my guitar directly from the adapters to the line in microphone jack, but when testing the audio and recording, no sound comes out. I've also tried to plug it into my amp, and to my pc and guitar, but still no sound comes out.

Is it a problem with my settings? Or some thing else?

  • @EARproduct1ons Are you trying to hear the guitar in real time or record it and hear it on playback? You probably have the wrong recording source selected from the drop down menu next to the arm button.

  • @acoustica222 I'm trying to record and hear it on playback. I did notice the arm button, and I picked the right on (microphone - line in) but still, nothing.

  • @EARproduct1ons Try left, left is always the mono input if you are not running stereo.

  • @acoustica222 I tried, but still nothing. To reiterate I have the line in on the microphone jack, and I plugged it into an adapter, and then plugged into my guitar directly. I've also tried putting it in the recording jack in my amp, but that didn't work either. Any ideas? Thanks

  • @EARproduct1ons You might just have some settings incorrect, head over to the acoustica forum, it's much faster to get help there.

  • i have ASIO and a creative 0404 but whenever i record things work out fine. i record more and layer a few more tracks on my song my recording either cuts out then starts again or the sound quality gets really fizzy and shitty sounding. why does this happen is it the sound card? i bought it brand new and i have no idea why this should be happening.

  • @zxxx86 Probably a sound card/cpu resource issue. Head over to the acoustica forum and ask there, you'll get responses much quicker.

  • So if I have Vista, and ASIO is not available, am I screwed? Do I have to deal with latency?

  • @chico280 No, VIsta should give the WavRT choice, which is alsop low latency.

  • @acoustica222 Hnmm... Well It wouldn't work for me. I tried everything. I did some research and apparently Vista really sucks when trying to plug in many soundcards and I was using the M-audio fastrack. I upgraded to windows 7 and all is good now. I'm pretty sure I tried everything but I'm glad I upgraded anyway. Thanks.

  • @chico280 Yes Vista is pretty well known for audio related difficulties. I have worked with it and did find resolutions to all issues but in some cases had to manipulate drivers manually.

  • Hey, nice Vandy! I used to have the rock-it pink one. I'm looking for a white one. Is this white? Thanks for the tuttorial

  • @chico280 heh heh, yes it's white, or supposed to be anyway.

  • now i got my guitar plugged in but it wont play. any ideas? thanks!

  • @zxxx86 For tech support, please visit the acoustica web site and submit a support request. You can also join the forum there, our users are more than happy to help you out.

  • i have the emu 0404 and i dont seem to have the same output size that you do. the output is to small for my guitar cable are you using an adapter to plug it in and if yes what kind. thanks!

  • THX

  • This is a great tutorial vid. I love Mixcraft5 but the guitar loops provided for you kind of suck.

Now for the acoustic would you just need to play into the mic? The acoustic guitar loops in Mixcraft are even worse.

  • sir,can i use that ASIO also when just using on-board sound-card mic input?

  • U ARE MY GOD MEN :D

  • @widz1993 Thanks! We appreciate it!

  • By the way, I record the guitar first, then layer the mic recording over that. I don't record both simultaneously...

  • @Staratino That's the best way to record IMO. See my earlier reply to you for the answer to the hiss issue.

  • Hey, I've just started using Mixcraft today to record myself, but I've run into a problem if you could help me...

I'm using an Ashton MPA100 for my guitar + Mic - plugged into my new dedicated soundcard, but the sound is quite low (I have to turn my speakers and sub woofer WAY up to hear it, but then there is hissing).

I'm waiting on delivery of a Yamaha MW12CX - will this improve sound quality if I run through that first?

    Cheers, Rikki.

  • @Staratino If you have to turn your computer speakers way up to hear a track you recorded, yes you will get hiss. You need to turn up the source (your amp) and record the track at a higher level.

  • @acoustica222 Well that makes sense I guess. I'm new to recording so I appreciate your help.

  • You Rock, both literally and hypothetically...

  • @Staratino Thanks! hypothetically rocking is my #1 hobby :-)

  • I have the FireWire Solo (M-Audio) is it possible to hook my amp into that as well as my guitar?

  • @ArtificialFlavaFTB2 If your amp has a line out then sure you can, just don't connect a speaker outout to it because they are powered and will damage the m-audio unit. You could also place a microphone in front of your amp and plug that into the m-audio unit.

  • @acoustica222 Im not sure on what a line out looks like, i was plannin to go with the mic but I have to idea where to start when buying a mic

  • i connected my guitar with a 1/4 inch to a 1/8 inch adapter and i cant hear my guitar please reply . what can i do?

  • @NickJonasSongLyrics Sorry I missed this. Did you select the "monitor incoming audio" option from the arm menu?

  • @acoustica222 yeah but i can't hear it

  • HEY SIR., THANK YOU. FOR THE VIDEOS.,., ITS SO HELP FUL.,

  • @sonicalive19 You are very welcome ;-)

  • my band uses this 3 dollar 1/4in. TS to 3.5mm TS, so if we want to use pedals we can..even though we have good distortion, we use shred amp to record because it is easier..but its only 3 dollars at best buy, plug it into your microphone jack, and it gives a good sound

  • Nice informative video. Thank you for creating and sharing.

The external soundcard seems the best option as it allows perfect set up on latency and no fan noise. The other ways look good too and your explanation is appreciated.

    Thanks again.

  • @Topdoginuk Thanks for the kind post. You get noise from your computer fans if you use an internal sound card?

  • @acoustica222 It's just something I heard from a Pro who suggested the best way is to use an external interface because of fan noise.

I'm gonna get the one you suggested on here.

Thanks for your videos. I still can't wait to see a proper song structure breakdown applied to the tracks & time/tempo/measure division of the track. ie Intro, verses, Chorus, Bridge, Outro.

  • @Topdoginuk The only way you'll get fan noise is if you put a microphone directly next to your computer fan, or if your computer has grounding issues you might get buzz, but if that was the case you would get it wether you use an internal or an external device.

My personal opinion is that an internal PCI card is worlds better than any USB connected device. USB simply does not have the bandwidth that PCI does, nor the speed. When I record professionally I use internal cards exclusively.

  • @Topdoginuk I now want to add to my previous post. I have been using a Creative E-MU0202 external device for portions of recording projects and it's actually quite reliable and sounds great. A drawback I can foresee is that since I tend to input on up to 16 channels at once, I don't think a USB device would be able to handle that smoothly. Maybe when USB 3.0 is the standard, that will change.
