  • It's kind of universal for all WM customers, cardboard boxes need to be either less than 2 foot by 2 foot or cut down to that size. Be glad he just put the box on the sidewalk, I've seen drivers here not pick up the entire set-out for the same thing.

  • Just cut it up!!

  • GET A LIFE YOU DICKWEED HIS JOB IS BAD ENOUGH WITHOUT YOU ASS BOTHERING HIM YOU BASTARD

  • If u want him 2 take it just cut it up!

  • So i read on gawker that you like taking pics of your cock!

  • dude just listen to the damn driver go cut it up or if your that lazy take it to the fucking landfill man you think garbage collectors have to cater to your every need you do the job for a day!!!!

  • geez i would take it if I was the driver its not a big deal sheesh he throws it on the ground we pay taxes to do as little as possible for them.

  • The Future will be Great. Clean Natural Gas Waste Management Trucks. New Technologically Advanced Trucks.

  • So anyways, I've gathered from this video you live in California, I've also concluded from some of your other video's you live in Oakland/ the bay area so your waste collection needs are most likely being served by WM of Alameda. I myself do not live in Cali, let alone USA but in 5 minutes and a little goggling i've found the answers you were too lazy to find your self. And I quote "Large cardboard boxes:

Flatten, bundle and place next to cart. Must be less than 3-feet by 3-feet!"

  • @spacemoose39 Yes! legend !!!

  • You do realize that in the amount of time it took you to set up the camera, harass the driver, and dramatically circle around your over sized pieces of cardboard you could have easily cut these down, right? after the first time it wasn't collected that should have been your indication that YOU are in the wrong. Not the driver.

  • stop wasting your time and the time of the drivers. it doesnt take a rocket surgeon to know if the lid wont shut they wont take it. quit crying about your trash service. people like you make me sick to be an american. you probably drive a prius. grow a pair, shut up and make a differance for this world.

  • @suckit69691 Wow. You are just as classy as the trash these people pick up.

  • @suckit69691 Wow. You are just as classy as the trash these folks pick up.

  • Normally i'd tend to side with the driver but he doesn't seem to be very service oriented and looked like he had a hard time leveling the carry can.

  • You should have called customer service, duh!

  • @vagado88 I did call them - twice. They told me to do what I did. Conflicting rules between what the driver understands and what the customer service folks understand I guess.

  • You should have called customer service, duh!

  • I completely agree with the trash man here. in my city there are rules for safetly for drivers behind the truck. If it were to fall out and hit the car behind them it could be a terrible accident. just should have cut it up so it actually fits in the barrel. the man was protecting his job by not causing a fluke accident.

  • Even if he's not supposed to take it, throwing it on the sidewalk and leaving it there is not OK. Of course, he can't be expected to put it back in the can either if it is an improper size so, if he were TRULY following policy, he would have had to forgo picking up the bin at all.

  • @wastemanagement5566 I'm sure the company doesn't appreciate you saying such things in their name. They'd probably fire you if the higher-ups found out and identified you.

  • This is not Waste Management!!!

  • WTF............ the ass (the driver) its just a stinkn box its not like it's going to clog up the trash truck. If it was the drivers box I bet it would get thrown in the truck.

  • After the first time i would have folded it up to fit in the can.

  • That''s not waste management policy I can tell you that!

  • That's not waste management

  • Hmmm... We keep all of our boxes but they still should pick it up. Rumke picks up ours, all though I would much rather preffer Republic Waste Serivces to.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a garbage man to and i get what the drivers saying but realistically its just a box LOL it doesn't need to be this big of a deal. I mean i get that he's just following the rules but there are big rules and small rules this would be breaking a very small rule. Plus it would reflect good on wm. And it would just be a nice thing to do.

  • It must be cut up to their standards dumbass!!! Are you fucking lazy? After the 2nd time you have figured it out.

  • Why do these customers think that Trash Drivers can do anything and that they are autonomous to what the company has directed them in doing? Why dont the customers try following the guidelines for a change instead of getting all pissed off when things dont go their way because they simply choose to ignore the guidelines that are repeated to them over and over and over again?

  • Comment removed

  • @osidecoqui. You always have the customer claiming that "they did not receive a tag", just like the customer who claims they never received a bill thus giving them "ammo" to complain that they would like their late fees waived. The driver looks like a pretty responsible guy. I'm pretty sure he left a tag the first time around. If this dude who uploaded the vid ignored the tag and threw it away that's his problem, not the driver's.

  • I think most of the comments said enough, but its real simple get a life you're an idiot. Why didnt you make a video of you cutting the boxes 2x2 Dumbazz lmao

  • You can post anything on YouTube, can't you?

  • I've never seen a Waste Management truck that wasn't green. Those look like their old colors.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, thats their old colors.

  • As the person who shot this video, I'm just shocked at the negative attitude from the comments left by WM drivers. With the exception of FormerWMDriver, all are anti-customer. There's nothing on WM's website nor in any literature that said what size the boxes should be. I called a VP of WM and the VP said he'd make sure the next driver would pick up the boxes. The VP said the drivers are supposed to leave a note as to why they didn't take a particular piece of trash, but no note was ever left.

  • Comment removed

  • The piece was to big. It'll get caught up in the hopper. The driver doesn't have time to do it for you. Did you read the info that were sent to you like everyone else about the correct size?

  • You didn't speak with any VP dude, just a csr or a route manager. Don't act important. Just another whiny customer is what you are hahaha. I would have thrown that box through your window and then put you in my box and packed you. Then marked you NCO on my paperwork and be on my merry way. I love being a garbage man. DO AS I SAY BITCHES!! or you ain't getting picked up. CUT THAT SHIT UP!! HAHAH He could have at least left you a tag though.

  • @ShaneMSnyder Actually, I used to work with the now VP of WM. We both were senior manager together in the same company that I currently work for and he left for this position. We still keep in close contact as our businesses still work with each other. Additionally, we are friends outside of work and frequently socialize.

  • @newsguy73 It sounds like you were talking to the wrong company. The vehicle in the video is not Waste Management.

  • You're a wonderful representative of your company using language like that. I'll be sure to support you next time you're in union talks with my city.

  • I am a garbage man too. We take anything and everything that is in a can. This Garbage guy in the video is an asshole. "it will fall out"? What the hell. Just dump it and off you go. if it falls out pick it up and put it in the bottom of the bin, pile garbage on top of it and it won't "fall out". " cut it up"

What a dumbass can't even answer the question why he can't take it.

  • I meant to say that you and FormerWMDriver seem to be the only reasonable drivers with a customer centric focus on here. Thank you!

  • @savagex4306 everybody needs too calm down its not that serious who gives a shit if he pick it up or not it goes to show that this scum bag custamer has nothing better to do then to video tape a man doing some real work ohh and by the way i do this work too anybody got a problem wit dat

  • @savagex4306 THIS THE GARBAGEMAN he had the same 53inch TV box in there for 3wks i called the company when i took it out the first time. we service 450 homes a day we dont have time to fold&fight with boxes when you can have it done before we get there its funny after he film me he had it cut up in 2x2the next wk on top of the cart it states cart must be closed and our policy is to cut it up in 2x2 and tie it up if it cant fit in the cart. he wanted to argue with me i had to finish &pick my kids

  • @savagex4306 Also the ladder on front of the chassis he could just get up there and hand it to the driver and he can chuck it from the top!

  • i am a garbage man and i know what it is like to deal with assholes like this. this guy has a hard job and it is not easy. where i collect for wm we take what is in the can and can only it is like this you pay for 1 can and one only when you go to mcdonalds and get a 10 piece nugget for example are they going to give you 20 piece for the price of a 10 no. this man was to dam lazy to cut it down and recycle it instead of putting it in the garbage. all i can say is get a life....

  • nothing better to do than bitch you yuppie idiot if you do it right you have no problem the driver shouldn,t have to kiss your ass hes doing you a service so follow the rules and you have no problems

  • @outonbail1488 I love how intelligent the discussions are on here.

  • Just curious, how is WM contracted for your area - is it a city/county contract? IF so, you may want to see if a copy of the contract is available for you to look over. Many of the city contracts require that WM return by noon the day following a complaint for missed pick-ups. If they fail to return, WM can be fined by the city/county - this is assuming that you don't have any C&D, bulk, or yardwaste mixed in that would prevent "legal" collection (depending on the contract). Hope that helps.

  • Guess you didn't know that Waste Management and Republic Services were started by the same person. Republic Services now owns Allied Waste, and Waste Management and Republic Services are slowly becoming a mirror image of each other.

  • Are you kidding me? Why is it so hard for people to follow the guidelines a company sets for service? If you called his boss he told you it needed to be cut up, how petty and lazy are you? This man is doing his job, a nasty one at that and you come along and cause more stress, you are a diva with delusions of granduer

  • Typical customer, it never their fault. Look at the truck knucklehead it wont fit in the hopper. that is why they tell you to make it 2 by 2. If people only knew what these guys go thru day in and day out to get trashed picked up. You never acknowledge the driver unless it is to complain. Work out there in 100* temp, rain storms, cold weather and see if you can do it. Instead of grabbing your cam, give the guy a bottle of water or soda, say good morning to the man.

  • gosh i hate people like this, always complaining always, making a fuss over nothing. calling his boss for what?

he went and got his video camara as if the guy was a thief or doing something wrong. pish,, you dont have better things to do with ur life?

  • you went thru all the trouble to make this video when you could of just cut that cardboard up...lol what a shame then you go get the license plate ..lol

damn you ever heard of making mt. out of molehills?

  • this guy sounds gay and why dont you just fold in in half its not the drivers fault

  • You are a horrible person.

  • I definitely agree with you, but when I worked for WM, we rarely had any stickers to use. My route manager would only give each driver a few, and when you used them, it was like pulling teeth to get more. So I'm guessing he didn't have one.

  • Comment removed

  • what is the big deal with just conforming to the companies request to properly size the box for removal? why bother the driver, its not his fault your a tool.....i bet you have an obama sticker on your volvo too!

  • Just cut it up you wienee!! It's cardboard, not concrete!

It says in almost any hauler's annual guidelines brochures (private companies or municipalities), that all items set out for collection must be properly cut/trimmed to fit inside the container with the lid CLOSED. Bulky items such as your box prevent materials from being packed fully and correctly, resulting in lower payloads to the transfer station/landfill, and the end result are higher costs passed on to you, with service increases.

  • Something that big won't fit in a one pass, it'll bridge up and then some poor sap has to dig a big paper jam out of the truck. 2x3 squares, that's the rule.

  • if he didnt have split side truck he take it no problem

  • Now c'mon, obviously it won't get fed into the truck easily with the size of the box. Doesn't take much to tear/cut it in two pieces. You gotta understand that garbage trucks can't always take everything that gets put out.

The amount of times residents come and complain about their greens materials not being collected... Most popular reasons:

    - branches / prunings aren't bundled

    - materials are 'bagged'

    - bad presentation for collection

... and they're always clearly outlined in brochures

  • Just feel sorry for the drivers, trying to do his job and he gets an ignorant resident... sometimes the best thing to do is not bother, and just drive off. Stop giving him a hard time and do just what he said...

  • He did nothing wrong. You obviously missed where it says "boxes should be cut up to fit inside cart" in the collection guidelines. Also you might have better luck if you politely ask him or give him a soda instead of complaining to the WM office.

  • nice video. do what he said. where was this

  • I would not take that box either. He's trying to explain that the box is too big. If you did not know this particular truck has 2 sections. If this driver attempts to load a large box like this one, the box WILL shift as the "dumpster" on the front of the truck is being dumped. This means that the box will probably fall out as the dumpster is raised. If it doesn't fall out, it could end up in the wrong section of the truck. The other problem is that it may create a bridge in the hopper.

  • Bridging is when a large flat object (like your box) gets stuck in the top of the hopper and on top of the packer blade. It creates a bridge over the hopper and prevents anymore material from entering the hopper area.

If this large box creates a bridge in the hopper, it will prevent other waste from being properly loaded into the truck. This can result in spillage of material all over the roadway.

Please cut the box in half.

  • Dude just do what the guy says.

  • Cut it into pieces no longer than 3 feet long. That box looked at least 5 feet long. Also tying it tighter together may also help.
