  • is it a good rifle? im genna probally buy a 1889 version in 2 weeks

  • @zabuzarocks14 I like it so much that I bought another K31 and a 1911 chambered in 7.5x55 Swiss. It seems to be the most accurate bolt action rifle I own. If you reload, keep in mind that the K31 chambers are looser than its predecessors' chambers. Because of this, Hornady offers two different die sets. One is for the looser K31 rifles and another for all other rifles.

  • That is a very interesting bolt action. Got to love the swiss for the cheese, knives and guns. :P

  • Did you really use a pad for your shoulder? Lol, you wouldn't last a day out in the field.

  • @estandid If I was in the field, I wouldn't need it because I wouldn't be shooting 300rds through old surplus bolt action rifles.

  • I love mine, it's a great rifle. I've gotten plenty of rifles since I bought mine a few years ago but it is still my favorite.

  • i love this rifle, i was getting 1/2 inch groups at 100yds, all in the 10 ring

  • It's amazing to see the bullet vaporize on the steel plate.

I just got one of these rifles. I pick it up on Saturday.

  • did you handload or reload? i have dies for 7.5x55 and i have a lee loader for handloading 30-06. but i realy want a handloader for 7.5x55 do you know where to find one?

  • I use a Hornady press and dies for my reloading. I really don't know anything about Lee products.

  • @bretak74 Dillion si the way to go :D

  • @bretak74 ,

And everyone wonders how Switzerland stayed out of the war,...the answer is the K-31, and the "Civilian Army" equipped with the K-31.

I'd hate to be on the wrong end of that rifle.

  • I just watched this video for the first time and it seems as if though you are slaping the trigger (lack of better terminology). If you plan on shooting for consistent groups on paper you should (IMO) gently take in the first stage of the trigger until you feel slight resistance and then pull through with even consistency. Mine has an excellent and consistent let-off. When these rifles are scoped and you find the magic recipe via handloading sub MOA groups are easily obtainable. Great Rifles!

  • eight, i noticed too after the first shot... great sound quality!

  • Good Job!! I saw a few of these rifles for sale in the UK,its one of the few "obsolete" caliber guns we can own without a licence,as tehy are also "Antique",not allowed to own the ammo or fire it though, they want over a $1100 for the two I have seen and they were not "mint" condition either.I suppose if I bought one,I would have to load my own ammo for it,if I could find some brass.Nice to see this gun fire though, thanks for posting, really appreciated, just wish I could be there and join in : (

  • Sorry for the bad gun situation in the UK. If you ever come to Atlanta, send me a message. I'll be more than happy to take you shooting. I like this rifle so much that I bought another. My newer one has a walnut stock.

  • Where in Atlanta is this range? I drive all the way out to Mansfield to the Charlie Elliott wildlife range to shoot my m91/30. I would't mind finding somewhere closer, I'm in Decatur

  • This range is pretty far northwest of Atlanta. If you're in Decatur, you should try the DeKalb County police firing range. I don't have the phone number, but it's in the phone book. That's where I would go before I found this range.

  • Thanks for the offer,I wish I could come to Atlanta and go shooting with you, unfortunately I'm imprisoned here by bad health and the fact that If I could work I'd have to do 10 hour days 365 for five years to be ale to afford to escape, they like to tax the tits off us aswell as making us pay triple what the rest of the world pays for anything,it ensures they keep us just where the want us,it would cost $2000 or more for the plane ticket.

  • The offer stands if you ever escape. Hang in there.

  • You can get the brass from Henry Krank in the UK (per last months advert in GunMart). I've seen a couple of these at my local range being fired. If you've got an FAC you should have no problem getting one.

  • i wonder what kind of groups you would get if that metal plate was paper. but thats besides the point. good Swiss quality, and quality american marksmanship

  • Good shooting, and a nice looking gun!

  • Good shooting . You spanked that target well !

  • nice acurrary paw

  • Gotta get me one. I hear they're good for hog hunting.

  • I know for a fact you can drop a 1,200lbs. moose with it, so yeah it can handle a hog!

  • you can hunt hogs with 223 and up. you dont need a giant round to take down hogs, they arent THAT big

  • i got one and they aswel as the sweede mausers are the nicest milsurps you will ever shoot a nice Canadian British or Australian lee-enfield is nice to and the m1 garand is just plane old fun

  • *cough* *cough* wrong! *Blarg* The only rifles that come close to the accuracy and firing rate are Garand and K43, but they both have their flaws while the only one I can see in the K31 is the rarity of the ammunition!

  • Does anyone know what kind of powder is used in GP11 ammunition?

  • straight pull bolt

  • Thats childs play for that gun....

  • Gonna get me one.

  • Nice rifle - good vid. Now, stand up and shoot - and you can ditch the past pad. Shooting off the bench does magnify the recoil. Shooting from sitting or standing lets your shoulder roll. How far was the target?

  • It was 100yds away.

  • Let 'em cough all they want , bro ...just keep shootin' that rifle . You'll only get better . You have a rifle and shoot it well ...they pull their puds and write emails about weapons they'll never own that are not as accurate .I can match your shot @350 yards , after 4 years of handloading / getting to know the rifle ....

Just keep shooting your 'ol K31 .

  • The backward pulling motion is a much stronger position to work the bolt than the standard upward pulling of most bolt actions. Nice rifle

  • I swear the K-31 is the most beautiful WW2 rifle out there.

  • *cough* M1 Garand *cough*cough*

  • *cough* *barf* Lee-Enfield *cough* *sniff*

  • @KEZBUTOR1337 Im partial to the Mauser 98 myself but the K31 sure is a real good lokking gun and with accuracy to boot.

  • @KEZBUTOR1337 Not only the most beautifull, but also the smoothest, the fastest cycling and the most accurate.

My K31 has outbeated a Lee enfield, Mauser K98 and even a springfield 1903.

    They truly are wonderfull rifles.

Also the swedish mauser...it is fantastic rifle

  • What kind of reloading dies do you use? Did you resize .284 brass or use real 7.5 Swiss brass?

  • I used Lee reloading dies. I pulled the bullets and dumped the powder from some factory FNM (Portugal) ammo because my exprience is that FNM is very underpowered. Other factory ammo is now available, so I can't imagine needing to use 284 cases.

  • If ur playing around with loads, try also the 168 grain loads, or the 190's, both is HPBT Match. I also prefer the IMR 4895 powder over the H4895. Im my 640 yard video with mine Im shooting 190 grain bullets. Nice video by the way.

  • Thanks. I have some IMR4895, so I'll give it a try.

  • Mine is the most accurate military rifle I've ever owned or shot, what a bargain!

  • These rifles are the greatest! For best accuracy, put your bags right in front of the mag, at the balance point. Some of these rifles are quite sensitive to where you hold them.

  • Thanks for the tip. The rifle is definitely accurate. I fired a total of 20rds and was able to hit the metal plate at 100yds with every one of them.
