I would never jump off at the highest dose possible, you got some balls homie. Id skip days and ween down and get to the point of skipping multiple days and do miniscule amounts. Maintinence therapy CAN be beneficial. BUT you are right its much better to simply detox with sub and face sobriety tough at times im sure but long term sub is avoiding the true goal for most which is sobriety

Fuck sakes..I was shooting heroin everyday for 3 fucking years. It was simple...24 mg suboxone a day for 3 months then 16 mg for 3 months then down to 8 mg per day for a month and a half. Then simply 4 mg per day...when you start to get sick and puking after you take a dose you are on yer way to getting off...then take 2mg per day. You will start forgetting to take a dose. I am now drug free.

@Bluffery Dude, I want yer doctor! Benzos help soo much with the whole detox process, as long as they are not abused. Suboxone and a small dose of K-pins or Ativan helps a great deal. I went to my Primary Doc for a prescription of 1 mg a day of clonazapam and she was going to give it to me until she found out I was on Suboxone. I guess a patient of hers died while on Suboxone and a benzo
@cbarrett34 Subs are not the same as methadone or heroin or any other opiat. Suboxone is a partial antagonist, unlike the rest that are full antagonists. I'm not sure this guy can vouch that 32mgs is the same as coming off 2.5mgs. Not so.....
It's kind of screwed up because they know now that there is no difference between 12mg and 24mg. One does not benefit from more than 12mg a day, no different than 32mg. The people below actually covered the rest, as far as tapering off the subs. The doc was a turd fart!!
Suboxon was developed in Belguim for SHORT TERM use to ease heroin withdrawal. Any doctor who prescribes this drug for longer than 2 weeks is ill-informed.
Your docs are fucking retards...I was on subs for about a year...tapering gradually after 3 months down to .5 mg a day until I quit at almost exactly 1 year...my amazing doctor gave me neurontin, clonodine, hydroxyzine, and some promethazine for the withdrawals which never seriously came...the only real symptom I had was diarrhea...a good doctor should have you taper very gradually and then it really is not that hard...I can tell your doc is a fucktard just from the fact he had u on 32mg....
People are dumb, u just do a fast taper of the subs over a months time, and with a little self control and will power u can get off with little to no withdrawal.

I would not suggest cold turkey to anyone. theres things doctors and the books dont tell you. the human body cant take feeling that sick for so long. the medical books say 9-14 days and your done withdrawing.its all B..S people who quit cold turkey wish it was 9 days. they could do that standing on there head.its months and months.and cold sweats Well~.ive seen cases 2-3 years! the human body Can Not be sick for that long.this is why suboxine is made.cuz bad withdrawls can last a very long time

I was unable to hold down a job, had no motivation AT ALL, was so depressed that I wanted to off myself, stopped talking to all of my friends, etc... I'm not as happy as I was when I was using, but I don't sweat bills and payments at all now. The reward is that you get to keep ALL of your loot and blow it on tangibles.
32 mg? Did you ever move your bowels? most people get clogged up from a normal dose. i know people who took 1/4 of a 1/4 8mg pill and couldnt use the bathroom. but 32 mg? thats insane
all you need is one whole pill 8mg for first two days then half a pill 4mg then 2mg and then you only have to take a quarter of a pill 2mg i even break them smaller and suffice so yeah who the hell approved 36 mg that is crazy
Why in the WORLD would your doctor let you be on 32mg on sub a day for two years?!?! That is so unnecessary. I started off at 24mg and was on that for about 6 months. Then I rapidly decreased my dose to about 6-8mg, stayed there for awhile, and now I'm on 4-6mg a day and am starting to taper off for good. It would be so much easier to taper as low as you can go. The half life is long enough as it is, so the withdrawals will last longer than most. I'd taper, it makes things so much easier.

First of all I know that 24 mg is the most you are suppose to take because I was on a program threw suboxone.com to help pay for them and they would not cover anything more then 3- 8mg's a day. I want to know if anyone (who has had experience) knows what you need to taper down to in order not to feel crazy withdrawals? I have been on Suboxone for 3 years and my doctor has not talked about getting me off, but I would like to get off. I am currently on 2mg a day. If anyone could let me know?
@MrEricandlindsey My doctor is going to have me taper down to 2mg a day, then take 2mg every other day, then finally stop for good. Your doctor can also prescribe things if you really need it to help you sleep, or even (if you are close to them) muscle relaxers to get through the withdrawal. I'm currently on 4-6mg a day and I'm hoping to get off by the beginning of summer. Good luck!

@ProChoiceJesus 32 mills of Suboxone for 2 years will fuck you up. The doctors either don't know/don't care. I started at 16 mills after getting off heroin, cut down to 8 mills after two weeks. Been on 4-8 mills a day for a little under a year. Tried to get off them a few months ago failed. Suboxone is a lie. If my insurance didn't cover it, it would be more expensive than a bundle of heroin every couple of days.
If you only use it for like a week or two to get thru the withdrawl you will never be sick when you stop taking it. This long term shit is no good in my opinion.
Can only tell you what suboxone has done for me. After years of battling chronic pain, I was in hopeless dependance on mega dose's of opioid's. percocett the last one in 2008. I went on a clinical trial of suboxone in NYC while in horrible withdrawal (no stranger as I went off 300mg morphine before) I stayed on a year then did a slow steady taper and in August 2009 I stopped at 1/4mg-a cakewalk! I traveled wtih buddys to AC, gambled and swam with no ill effects-Thank God for suboxone-Slow works!

I really hope u succeeded. Although cold turkey from 32. Is doubtful. A slow taper will increase success rate. But in the end hou will never avoid with drawl. Even coming off of. 25mg will produce weeks of agony. Albeit much less than would he experienced coming off of say 8mg.
YOU should have NEVER been prescribed 32mg of suboxone in the first place. Frankly u got a doctor that didn't know what the he'll he was doing. I see this all the time and find it to be quite revolting. Even the heaviest and most tolerant addicts find relief in 4-8 mg range. Exceptions to this may be someone switching over from Meth. In which case no more than 16 mg would be needed.
I ve been on Subutex for around 11 years now from 24mg (3x8mg) now down to 4.4mg(2x2mg+1x0.4mcg) plus 3x5mg Nitrazepam every morning for the last eleven years it stopped me from using H, few years back I was just shooting the subs every day don't have a a vein left I'am really scared of coming down more as I feel as through it's just holdin me still & I'am scared shitless of PAWS (post acute withdrawl symptoms) has any one else been prescribed subutex this long??? longterm H&Benzo Addict

you really gotta get down to 0.25mgs or less a day and then everyother day, then jump ship.. bupe is a strong drug so you gotta get down to literally such small doses that it looks like almost nothing when u take ur 0.25mg dose....also a good idea to have some benzo's on hand when w/ding as yo won't be sleeping for a good 2 weeks after jumping off sub, even at 0.25mgs every other day.. just to let u know, get ur dose super low b4 u jump, it'll still be bad but not near as bad as jumpin from 2mg+
@HerbalJah yeah this is how it's done, you need to follow this taper. what ever you take drop down one day then back up, do that for 8 days and then do the reg. dose the first time and drop for two days, do that for 8 days, then do your reg. dose then drop for 3 days straight and after you get past 8 days you just drop completely to the lower dose and start over in this order. i go down a half a mg at a time. I'm at one mg from 8 and it's working well.

I'm on 90, 8mg/2mg a month... it has been a god send i have touched pills since 10/31/11 and i had taken 21, 12mg Dilaudid the last time in a 1 hour and 1/2 time span all the pills were gone and so was my $170, slept for 2 days and my insides felt like i did 5 million sit ups.... needless to say thank you suboxone for my life back....
I have been on subs for 3 years and am currently weening off of them. I tried cold turkey once, but I think I'd rather die than try that again!!! I am extremely depressed and cry all the time. Everything looks different, even the way things smell. I hate it. Will this depression ever go away???

Suboxone and subutex are identical. Nalaxone is outcompeted by bupe for opioid receptors, and therefore, it is pharmacologicaly inactive, and thus has no effect. The only reason it is in suboxone is to scare people, and also because the patent had already expired on subutex, and the company knew it could make millions with a faulty logic that sounds good on paper, but in reality just doesn't work.

Also you cannot shoot Suboxone but even though you can shoot Subutex you are a fucking retard if you do. Also Subutex does not have the naloxone in it to put you into withdraws if you get high on Heroin for example or try to shoot it. I have been on Subbiez since the 5 city trials in 2005 (Tampa, Miami, NY, LA, ATL) I know probably more about both drugs than a pharmacy.
Yes you can shoot suboxone. Other than the taste and color, NO DIFFERENCE. Get this through your head. ANd injecting it does not make you "retarded", though saying that makes you narrowminded. Remember, sublingual(under the tongue) gives you only 18-35% of the drug. That means it takes 3-4.5mg sublingual to equal just 1mg IV. I can literally make 1 8mg suboxone last close to a week injecting, which I happily do since I can no longer afford $750 for a prescription.
I don't always IV, but when I run low. Believe me, it is common knowledge they are identical, and saying they are not is spreading ignorance. It is a fact man, bupe has a higher binding affinity than nalaxone, making it useless. AND bupe itself causes WD if you are addicted to a full agonist with higher potency than the bupe, because the bupe will knock it off, yet not be strong enough to fully compensate.
Just think about it this way: Bupe(suboxone/subutex) overdose cannot, I repeat, CANNOT be uflly reversed with nalaxone, because the binding affinity is higher.

IME >4mg subbed has NO blocking effect 6mg (few days) blocks the main IV rush, 8-12mg deffo blocking most of the high 12mg+ it's useless using ontop unless your bupe is uderdosed.

It is the same with methadone without the negative side effects and massive addiction of methadone. Methadone makes it harder to get high like Buprenorphine only because it tricks you tolerance into staying the same as if you on opiates. The naloxone is what will DT you if you inject Suboxone. Subutex does not have naloxone.
@Mtmercurio17 I only switched from suboxone to subutex for two reasons. The taste does not annoy me as much with subutex and the drug worked better for me. I have never been sick ever on subutex. I got sick from time to time with fuckin suboxone.
I was on subs for almost 4 years, tapered down to 1/2 a mg daily then jumped. I am now on my 9th day sub free. It hasn't been fun but I've been able to function just fine. The symptoms are just annoying at this point. After 11 months on subs I tried to jump @ 4mg and it was bad, getting down to low doses is the key.
ONE MORE THING. Nobody should need 32 or even 16 mgs of sub a day. When i got on subs, i has taking less than 1 a day and got my routine down to only half of a 8mg pill a day which was PLENTY. I was doing a good amount of percocets, oxys, and MS contins for 5 or 6 years and a 1/4 of a sub in the a.m. and another 1/4 at night was all i needed to not feel sick.

I take about 1/3 of suboxone a day, so 1 pill can last me from 2 and half days to 3 days. I stard feeling WDs setting in 5-8 hours after my last dose, usually the 1st symptoms happen when i smoke a cigarette & I get a runny nose, a little axiety, and yawn every 30 seconds (Its BS that you dont go into WDs for 3 days with subs) If anyone can let me know of a good tapering plan that will be comfortable, let me know what worked for you please. Anyone that takes a addictive drug should never stop abruptly. It is dangerous to stop all of a sudden. You should always taper down no matter what the drug. If you need to stop taking suboxone or whatever else, you need to do it a month or so ahead, when you have enough meds to do it the right way. Taper down to 11/2 the first week, 1 the second week, 1/2 the next and then taper that 1/2 down to a 1/4, and so on. Never do this abruptly.
32 mg of suboxone!?!?!?!?!?! First of all, the doctor that prescribed you that is a moron, because for one, anything after 16 mgs of suboxone has absolutely no further effect. Second, you don't need that much suboxone AT ALL no matter how high your habit was.
There is absolutely no reason for you to get on suboxone int he first place if all you're going to do is quit them cold turkey ANYWAY... I don't understand this, almost every video I've seen noone does this shit the correct way. If you're on 32 mgs of subs every day, which is pointless to begin with, you go 32 mgs today... next week 30, then the week after 28, etc.. .Just come down slowly over a period of time you won't go through withdrawel AT ALL as your brain won't notice the difference.
I am currently on 24mg a day, in Canada they don't prescribe higher than 24 (3x8mg). I am trying to stay where I am at and drop down, because the alternative would be methadone. Methadone is harder to withdrawal from, from my understanding (I am studying to be a registered certified pharmacy technician), methadone should only be titrated at doses of 1-2mg per week. So a dose of say 60mgs, could take take at least 30 weeks to ween down off. I just don't want to put myself into that misery.

@AlexStenka I was going through horrible heroin w/d's in 2008 after my buddy's house got raided and decided I didn't want to join him in prison. Unlike alot of junkies I am also a heavy drinker and vainly tried to drink myself through the w/d's (tried it many times, bad idea folks) The cops dumped 1/2 a script of Subs on the filthy garage floor. I discovered this and began snorting and eating this shit mixed in with cig ash and dog hair for about two weeks. It sucked but a slow taper worked.
I came off in March, it's September now... I'm still goosing up, sweating, the whole shebang! It's horrible, worse than heroin and Methadone WD. Worse even than benny WDS. 6 FUCKING MONTHS!
In the end I was taking 0.01 of a GRAIN, FFS! Still got sick, on a tiny sliver.
Im just starting subs and what worries me is that the doctor at the clinic I go to wants me on subs for 2 years minimum... I would never jump off at the highest dose possible, you got some balls homie. Id skip days and ween down and get to the point of skipping multiple days and do miniscule amounts. Maintinence therapy CAN be beneficial. I went to my Primary Doc for a prescription of 1 mg a day of clonazapam and she was going to give it to me until she found out I was on Suboxone. I guess a patient of hers died while on Suboxone and a benzo

Your docs are fucking retards...I was on subs for about a year...tapering gradually after 3 months down to .5 mg a day until I quit at almost exactly 1 year...my amazing doctor gave me neurontin, clonodine, hydroxyzine, and some promethazine for the withdrawals which never seriously came...the only real symptom I had was diarrhea...a good doctor should have you taper very gradually and then it really is not that hard...I can tell your doc is a fucktard just from the fact he had u on 32mg....

Why in the WORLD would your doctor let you be on 32mg on sub a day for two years?!?! That is so unnecessary. I started off at 24mg and was on that for about 6 months. Then I rapidly decreased my dose to about 6-8mg, stayed there for awhile, and now I'm on 4-6mg a day and am starting to taper off for good. It would be so much easier to taper as low as you can go. The half life is long enough as it is, so the withdrawals will last longer than most. I'd taper, it makes things so much easier.

First of all I know that 24 mg is the most you are suppose to take because I was on a program threw suboxone.com to help pay for them and they would not cover anything more then 3- 8mg's a day. I want to know if anyone (who has had experience) knows what you need to taper down to in order not to feel crazy withdrawals? Your doctor can also prescribe things if you really need it to help you sleep, or even (if you are close to them) muscle relaxers to get through the withdrawal. Been on 4-8 mills a day for a little under a year. Tried to get off them a few months ago failed. Suboxone is a lie. Can only tell you what suboxone has done for me. After years of battling chronic pain, I was in hopeless dependance on mega dose's of opioid's. percocett the last one in 2008. I went on a clinical trial of suboxone in NYC while in horrible withdrawal (no stranger as I went off 300mg morphine before) I stayed on a year then did a slow steady taper and in August 2009 I stopped at 1/4mg-a cakewalk! I traveled wtih buddys to AC, gambled and swam with no ill effects-Thank God for suboxone-Slow works!

YOU should have NEVER been prescribed 32mg of suboxone in the first place. Frankly u got a doctor that didn't know what the he'll he was doing. I see this all the time and find it to be quite revolting. Even the heaviest and most tolerant addicts find relief in 4-8 mg range. Exceptions to this may be someone switching over from Meth. In which case no more than 16 mg would be needed.

you really gotta get down to 0.25mgs or less a day and then everyother day, then jump ship.. bupe is a strong drug so you gotta get down to literally such small doses that it looks like almost nothing when u take ur 0.25mg dose....also a good idea to have some benzo's on hand when w/ding as yo won't be sleeping for a good 2 weeks after jumping off sub, even at 0.25mgs every other day.. just to let u know, get ur dose super low b4 u jump, it'll still be bad but not near as bad as jumpin from 2mg+

@HerbalJah yeah this is how it's done, you need to follow this taper. what ever you take drop down one day then back up, do that for 8 days and then do the reg. dose the first time and drop for two days, do that for 8 days, then do your reg. dose then drop for 3 days straight and after you get past 8 days you just drop completely to the lower dose and start over in this order. i go down a half a mg at a time. I'm at one mg from 8 and it's working well.

Suboxone and subutex are identical. Nalaxone is outcompeted by bupe for opioid receptors, and therefore, it is pharmacologicaly inactive, and thus has no effect. The only reason it is in suboxone is to scare people, and also because the patent had already expired on subutex, and the company knew it could make millions with a faulty logic that sounds good on paper, but in reality just doesn't work.

Also you cannot shoot Suboxone but even though you can shoot Subutex you are a fucking retard if you do. Also Subutex does not have the naloxone in it to put you into withdraws if you get high on Heroin for example or try to shoot it. I have been on Subbiez since the 5 city trials in 2005 (Tampa, Miami, NY, LA, ATL) I know probably more about both drugs than a pharmacy.

Yes you can shoot suboxone. Other than the taste and color, NO DIFFERENCE. Get this through your head. ANd injecting it does not make you "retarded", though saying that makes you narrowminded. Remember, sublingual(under the tongue) gives you only 18-35% of the drug. That means it takes 3-4.5mg sublingual to equal just 1mg IV. I can literally make 1 8mg suboxone last close to a week injecting, which I happily do since I can no longer afford $750 for a prescription.

It is a fact man, bupe has a higher binding affinity than nalaxone, making it useless. AND bupe itself causes WD if you are addicted to a full agonist with higher potency than the bupe, because the bupe will knock it off, yet not be strong enough to fully compensate.
Just think about it this way: Bupe(suboxone/subutex) overdose cannot, I repeat, CANNOT be uflly reversed with nalaxone, because the binding affinity is higher.

IME >4mg subbed has NO blocking effect 6mg (few days) blocks the main IV rush, 8-12mg deffo blocking most of the high 12mg+ it's useless using ontop unless your bupe is uderdosed.

I was on subs for almost 4 years, tapered down to 1/2 a mg daily then jumped. I am now on my 9th day sub free. It hasn't been fun but I've been able to function just fine. The symptoms are just annoying at this point. After 11 months on subs I tried to jump @ 4mg and it was bad, getting down to low doses is the key.

ONE MORE THING. Nobody should need 32 or even 16 mgs of sub a day. When i got on subs, i has taking less than 1 a day and got my routine down to only half of a 8mg pill a day which was PLENTY. I was doing a good amount of percocets, oxys, and MS contins for 5 or 6 years and a 1/4 of a sub in the a.m. and another 1/4 at night was all i needed to not feel sick.

I take about 1/3 of suboxone a day, so 1 pill can last me from 2 and half days to 3 days. I stard feeling WDs setting in 5-8 hours after my last dose, usually the 1st symptoms happen when i smoke a cigarette & I get a runny nose, a little axiety, and yawn every 30 seconds (Its BS that you dont go into WDs for 3 days with subs) If anyone can let me know of a good tapering plan that will be comfortable, let me know what worked for you please. Even with taking 1/3 of a pill a day, My WDs are bad.

32mg, and stopping? Are you CRAZY? As a matter of fact, it DOES make a difference if you stop at 1mg compared to 32mg. Its common sense bro. I've been able to get off and feel completely normal by day 7 without to much discomfort during that week.

Anyone that takes a addictive drug should never stop abruptly. It is dangerous to stop all of a sudden. You should always taper down no matter what the drug. If you need to stop taking suboxone or whatever else, you need to do it a month or so ahead, when you have enough meds to do it the right way. Taper down to 11/2 the first week, 1 the second week, 1/2 the next and then taper that 1/2 down to a 1/4, and so on. Never do this abruptly.

There is absolutely no reason for you to get on suboxone int he first place if all you're going to do is quit them cold turkey ANYWAY... I don't understand this, almost every video I've seen noone does this shit the correct way. If you're on 32 mgs of subs every day, which is pointless to begin with, you go 32 mgs today... next week 30, then the week after 28, etc.. .Just come down slowly over a period of time you won't go through withdrawel AT ALL as your brain won't notice the difference.

I am currently on 24mg a day, in Canada they don't prescribe higher than 24 (3x8mg). I am trying to stay where I am at and drop down, because the alternative would be methadone. Methadone is harder to withdrawal from, from my understanding (I am studying to be a registered certified pharmacy technician), methadone should only be titrated at doses of 1-2mg per week. So a dose of say 60mgs, could take take at least 30 weeks to ween down off. I just don't want to put myself into that misery.

all right first of all suboxone is not supposed to be used like this guy was using it.........clearly whatever doctor was treating him was'nt in it to get him well / independant/ free....truly there's only one physician that can do that.... but anyway what people fail to realize is that if your trying to quit your eventually gonna have to do just that ..Quit.... if I did it anyone can........I shot oxy's ,blues, and heroin for 5 yrs....

Hang the fuck in there bro...fuck my life i know how you feel..i get three 8s a day..but i only take one to two max..sometimes just half in am and half in pm..i switched to subs at sixty mg methadone..i wanted to die for twenty four hours..if i didnt have suboxone blocking it i would have banged a gram of dope just to make the feeling in my chest go away.

Suboxone withdrawal does suck, but it's going to suck a lot worse if you don't taper - especially being on such a high does...I was only on it for a few months, it did the trick - helped me stay clean long enough to feel comfortable with normal every day life again...but I definitely don't think it should be used long-term...why replace one addiction with another?

My doctor says 24mg is the max he can give me. you were on 32mg? I've been on subs since late 2009, right now I'm on 6mg and want to get off.

Suboxone is a good drug for short term use, but how is that possible lol...fuck man I'm scared. I withdrew plenty of times before, once of suboxone and I never want to go through it again, hang in there man. @AlexStenka I was going through horrible heroin w/d's in 2008 after my buddy's house got raided and decided I didn't want to join him in prison. Unlike alot of junkies I am also a heavy drinker and vainly tried to drink myself through the w/d's (tried it many times, bad idea folks) The cops dumped 1/2 a script of Subs on the filthy garage floor. I discovered this and began snorting and eating this shit mixed in with cig ash and dog hair for about two weeks. It sucked but a slow taper worked.

In the end I was taking 0.01 of a GRAIN, FFS! Still got sick, on a tiny sliver.

Im just starting subs and what worries me is that the doctor at the clinic I go to wants me on subs for 2 years minimum... I dont want to be addicted to subs but my mom of course listens to this man and agrees with him... I agree I need to be on the drug until I can control my urges but I dont believe 2 years is the answer, am I right?

So I have to give to you for really seeing the whole picture that u are a slave to a drug and I commend u for trying to face ur demon and be free once and for all.... So Many people just stay on suboxone and yes it is a good drug but only if u are using it for 2 weeks and tapering off to be completely clean but to stay on it long term is senseless I truly give u props for being brave enough and strong enough to try and do what so many can and will Not do ;)
