Most male players tend to treat this as a soft romantic piece. It should be played in an emotionally charged way - a sense of desperation and helplessness that the promises and joy of true love could be so easily affected by tragic circumstances.
俞麗拿 is the best, she played with the feeling.Listen to the last part of this video, you will know nobody can play with the sad emotion & feeling of this music except her.
i loved the oboe solo at the beginning. not too calling-for-attention solo, blends well with the orchestra, yet just enough to feel the richness of it as a solo part
Thank you for this post! I cannot read the characters in script but my ears tell me I've found something very special indeed. The range of emotions generated by these amazing artist individually and as an orchestra will not soon be forgotten. Thank GOD for some of the things on youtube.

@flungingpictures - The liner notes explains that the violin is CHU Ying-Tai and the cello is LIANG Shang-Po.
There are 3 parts to this concerto:
1. TheExposition (Love)
2. The Development (Opposition to the Arranged Marriage) and
3. The Reprise ( Transformation into Butterflies).
It's strange that it does state that YU Ni-Na as the soloist, but it didn't say who the cellist who played the part of LIANG was.

@flungingpictures - This record was done in one take. There was no retake. Some where along the way someon dropped a cymbal and this was not redone...
There is also no year of recording, etc.

The time is wrong.
What was on the label as side A was actually the time for side B.
