However, I dont completely agree with your statement about keeping bata music strictly within the religious context. Irakere proved to us all that certain rhythms like iyesa and chachalokuafun make great aditions to latin jazz percussion. Ive even heard the baba furu toque on a ruben blades song and it was beautifull in that context as well.
