Fabulous lecture. I attended a luncheon with Robbe-Grillet a few years previous to this lecture and did not understand a word that was being said, so it has been a real pleasure to have a second chance by listening to this. Thanks so much for posting it.
Thank you for posting thouse videos. It was a great pleasure. I strongly belive that Robbe-Grillet was one of the best writers of 20th centure and for it is the best one. I am still trying to find his movies wich are not avilable in US as of yet. "Last year in Mariandbad" is my all time favorite. The translator is very good too, very impresed of him. Thank you again for posting!
I know several filmmakers (Greenaway, for one) who claim that because of the "Last Year..." they decided to try filmmaking. The film is opening new horizons (that are still not fully explored). Resnais did a great job translating ARG's ideas into visuals. Unfortunately, ARG didn't do so well in the films that he directed. I guess, he was better with ideas and language, than with visuals...
it was uncanny to me how catania and bloody marys were seeminly randomly mentioned in project for a revolution in new york. i find that in the past i have often thought of those two things, sometimes maybe quite randomly.
it was a real experience reading the book...a lot of movement.
thank you for taking the time to transfer all of this and so putting it in the public sphere. isn't it interesting how much of a 'revenant' he is himself: always telling the same old stories. think of his interviews with benoit peeters.
if you have any more videos of robbe-grillet i'd love it if you could post them as well.

Since his death in February, I've been researching his work. So I was very pleased to find this lecture. Many thanks for posting it.

Who is the translator in this lecture? Does anyone know? From SF maybe?

>telling the same old stories?
Aren't they all? 'Public figures' often repeat the same answers. It is only noticeable if you happen to read several of their interviews.
(They even complain that they are always asked the "same old questions" :)
