  • i like tacos <3

  • Awesome tutorial...and everything is so wonderfully explained. I'm a beginner and i really appreciate tutorials like this one.

  • ive been hearing alot about glass, and how it effects your image. i only have my kit lens and im thinking of buying a nikon 35 mm next is there any company's you would say produce better glass then others?

  • @911sareforever I hear the 35 1.8 for DX cameras is sharper than the 35 2.0 for full frame. I had the 35/2 and it wasn't impressing me much. There isn't a company that's clearly better at lenses in all regards. It goes on a lens by lens basis as there are some nice ones and some duds. You may hear a lot of people say nice things about zeiss lenses but they are expensive and manual focus on Nikon which isn't attractive for most people so not an option.

  • Great video!thanks

  • Thank you! Excellent overview! I appreciate your instructional style. I was able to absorb each topic as you described them.

  • lol tamron lense caps, love it

  • Hi! Nice video! I'm considering to buy a new lens right now for my Nikon D3100. I cannot decide if I should get the 40mm f/2.8G Micro or the 50mm f/1.8G. The first one is a little more expensive but features macro, which I really love. The 55mm is cheaper and one stop faster. Do you know if the quality of the photos (such as details) is the same for both? Or is one better than the other? :) Thank you

  • a perfect lens is a 400 f2.8

  • Great video with a lot of info. What is the name of the skinny font you used through out the video? Thanks!

  • @anisabt The font is CENTURY GOTHIC. Size 12 is my guess. Cheers :-)

  • GREAT VIDEO! Now here is the question! Should i buy the 200mm f2.8 L non-is? or the 70-200mm f4 non-is?

  • @THEHAMM3T @THEHAMM3T These lens aren't really similar. The 200 2.8L prime only comes in non-IS version. A zoom or prime is pretty different lens as is f4 vs 2.8. One is also white and attracts more atttention. What are you going to be doing with these?

  • WELL, I own a 100mm f2.8 L IS and also the fantastic plastic!(50mm f1.8). Now i have owned the 70-300mm IS for more than 4 years, but, lord, ever since i bought the L lens, nothing pleases me except the L itself! So i'm just looking for a good telephoto lens!

  • @THEHAMM3T The 100L macro is an awesome lens. It'll be hard to beat that really. If you are a prime person and don't mind changing lenses, the 50, 100, and 200mm trio is pretty good. If you ever wanted longer, you could always add a teleconverter. Any of the 70-200 Ls are good really if you need that convenience factor but it's up to you if you need zoom.

  • THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

  • @hausofhadz i am considering buying a Canon 5d mark2 for video, not pics...i don't care about how fast the camera takes pics...i will hardly ever use it for pics....so as far as video...what lens features should i focus on and what particular lenses are good for those features?

The camera alone is expensive, i don't want to have to buy more than one lens on top of that so is there one great lens i can use for video?

  • Hey , i would like to know what kind of lense should i buy for my nikon d60 that i want to take shots of my friends doing ski/snowboard and for other sports , any ideas on what kind of lense i should get ?

  • @poolpo17 Look for a lens that uses a fast ultrasonic motor (Nikon's version is called "silent wave" but beware not these "AF-S" lenses are fast) and fast speed f/2.8. Slower lenses means you will miss more shots but they are cheaper. The ideal lens for telephoto to get is expensive is the Nikon 70-200 AF-S f/2.8. Version 1 is cheaper/older and is fine on your camera. Cheaper alternatives is the Nikon 80-200 AF-S (only on used market now) and maybe the Sigma versions. Do you want a wide angle?

  • @hausofhadz nope im just looking for something around the 200-300 , i bought a nikon d3100 2 days ago , and i took pictures in ski and it was slow at catching , would you recommend the sigma 70-300 mm dg macro lense ?

  • @poolpo17 The sigma's with faster motors have "HSM" in the name. The lens that you mentioned is like 200ish? There aren't any recommended sports action lenses at that price point. The 100-300 f4 (now discontinued unfortunately) would've been the best choice in that range. That lens is somewhat expensive though ~ $1000USD. Other lenses around same price is Sigma 120-400 OS HSM (current model). Another used option is Sigma 50-500 ($800ish used).

  • @hausofhadz ok thanks for the headups so your saying i should not buy the sigma if im only looking for sports ?

  • 50mm f1.4 or 70-300 IS f4-5.6??

  • @SportinhioHD These lens are pretty different so it all depends what you want to do with them.

  • dude, you look sad. Y_Y

  • Hi there. Do you have any experience with Tokina lenses? I'm looking for a ultrawide zoom in DX format. The 12-24mm ATX-124 mk 2 looks promising but i'm not 100% convinced. Your video's are great. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with amateurs like me.

  • @4Patat I personally don't use them but if I were to choose, I'd use the Tokina 11-16 2.8. Faster speed gives you more options. Sorry I haven't used or read much on the 12-24.

  • Very useful, thanks :)

  • I would like to upgrade to a Canon digital body and still use my old Canon 1000FN USM 35 - 135 lens. Is this possible, or do I need to buy a digital lens. Also what digital Canon camera would you recommend for a guy like me who is just starting out into digital!....Thanks so much!....Cheers, Peter

  • @finnpeter Your lens is an EOS mount lens so it will work fine on any of the Canon DSLRs. It's not a very useful lens because it's pretty telephoto. You'll need a wider angle lens to compliment it. If you're interested in taking only photos and don't want to spend much, the XSi is a good starter camera. If you want to spend more and have movie mode, I recommend the T2i.

  • If perfect lens was heavy, it wouldn't be perfect :)

  • hi! i am planning to buy a lens for my nikkon d3100 but im confused between nikkor 55 300 mm zoom lens (made in china. more expensive than tamron) or tamron 70 300 mm macro. (made in japan which is affordable.) pls help me. tnx

  • @rodelson22 I would choose the Nikon as it has VR and the shorter 55mm wide end is more useful.

  • Thankyou so much for explaining everything!!!!!!!! Please make a video on macro lenses, i havent watched all of your videos yet so idk if u do or not. But thank you

  • @SemperFiSniper9 I don't have any more macro lenses. I just don't use them enough so I use extension tubes instead.

  • Why do u make video with black background... its very.... i dont know hwo to say but doesnt look good... specially with a black shirt...

but all in all a nice informative video...

  • @vj483 Actually the background was a green screen. I was just testing out if it'll come out green a little on my shirt. I guess it didn't. :p

  • I'm looking to buy a lens for three things, action sports (skateboarding, motorcyles etc) Landscape and a flower/insect macro etc, I have a Pentax k-x and have a fisheye and a 50-200 and 18-55 , just them three to start off really, any lenses you reccomend, Thankyou

  • @sprocketrsvr One single lens for those 3 things is not really possible. For landscapes, people like to use wide angle lenses. You can already get by with the 18-55 unless you want higher quality. For sports and motorcycles a fast telephoto f/2.8 zoom could work. You could use extension tubes to get in closer if you don't want to buy another lens. I'm not familiar with Pentax's line though. So probably you can get by with 2 lenses.

  • @hausofhadz I want to capture musicians mid action so drummers stick frozen, any advice lens or flash wise

  • @hausofhadz I want to capture musicians mid action so drummers stick frozen, any advice lens or flash wise I have a pentax kx as well

  • @sprocketrsvr hey, fellow pentax k-x user here =) for sports and macro, you can get really good results from the sigma/tamron 70-200 f/2.8 macro. they're not true macro lenses, but they get pretty damn close, extension tubes can help a bit with that. for landscapes, if you dont mind manual focus and a little bit of distortion, you can pick up a samyang/rokinon/bower (its the same lens, just rebranded) 14mm f/2.8. The lens is crazy sharp with a nice field of view

  • @sprocketrsvr if you want to spend a little more on a wideangle, you can get the pentax DA 14mm f/2.8 or the DA 15mm f/3.2 limited

  • You get what you pay for..bottom line....

Also was this shot with a green screen?

  • you have to choose: red pill or blue pill?

  • OMG your voice is to calm.....

  • I dont care about the video its so fucking relaxing no homo

  • Wow...I felt as calm as all heck watching this video! This man has one of the most peaceful voices and dispositions I've ever experienced! :O) This video is also very informative and answered questions I had about my own lenses. I look forward to watching more tutorials. Great work!....Pri the Honeydark

  • did u use canon lens on nikon? min 7:18

  • @lidstudio1 That was probably just the Canon lens cap. I use Tamron, Canon, and Nikon lens caps and they sometimes end up in various places haha.

  • the 35 mm is 1.4 and not 2.0

  • thanks....very informative

  • 5 Stars lesson ; )

  • thanks!

  • Cool video! You should have more views good info here!

  • How about picking a new camera for 2010? i need a new body under 2g
