damn.... not only did the dude get his "big whiskey" he got half of the title of dmb's most amazing album... the FIRST half at that! oh dave come love on me
This is how Dave got the name for the album correct? I think I heard a story from Dave when he was in New Orleans during the production of Big Whiskey and some guy came up to them and kept saying Big Whiskey and it just stuck.
@scottweiss1975 Johnny White's is a bar in New Orleans, it gained a little national exposure during Hurricane Katrina, even with half the city under water the bar stayed open for business following the storm....
thats cool I read about how the album got its name but i didnt know they caught that moment on film, very very cool. historical even. love DMB RIP Leroy
i can't wait for june 2nd! i want more new DMB tunes, and getting a 7" from the local record store makes the new release sooo much better. Anyone else seein' them this summer?
elaborate.. ive heard of and researched the new world order and it seems to be a little extreme to be true but it might be and why do u say that dave knows it/ and radiohead? who are others and how do you konw they know and do they believe it?
Alex Jones specifically mentioned that Radiohead is awake. and Dave's lyrics say it all.
I'm a guy who's been a Democrat my whole life until about 7 months ago. I realized then that we actually only have one choice in elections. We have a 2-headed, 1 party system. There is no difference between R and D. They ALL are funded by International Banks. The Banks own the media too. The News is controlled. They killed JFK for talking about abolishing the Fed. You haven't researched anything
imsocool i'm pretty sure it's the other way around. Although Tim is a great guitarist and musician and I respect him strongly as a musician, he would not have any of the fame he has now if it weren't for DMB, he would still be playing local shows at Miller bar.
How so? I mean, I think you are a tool for watching a video of someone you think is a tool. What kind of a tool would waste his time doing that? and then to bother telling everyone, "hey look guys, I just watched this video of a guy I think is a tool." Nice going slick.
I was kind of hoping they'd have some kind of homage to Leroi on the cover of the album rather than just a band photo like they did for "Everyday." Mind you, that was a cool band photo, but still.
i have to completely disagree with you on that, Tim Reynolds rocks acoustic or not and brings a new groove to the band. "Throw him off stage"? what a fucking moron, and he can shred way better than warren haynes!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
get tim out of there. tim reynolds has no place in the dave matthews band. i love marshall amps and i love distortion, but there is no place in dmb for either of those.
dave and tim have the best acoustic set ive ever heard, but throw tim on stage with dmb and he's just making noise over beautiful harmonies. bring him in to play the solo to money or for a few other guest appearances (and he can try and compare to that of warren haynes in central park) but his sound does not mesh throughout
What are you talking about? You obviously don't know much about the band then. Tim Reynolds has collaborated with DMB on their album Before these Crowded Streets and on Dave's solo album Some Devil. So for you to say he doesn't belong on stage you are soarly mistaken. Have you ever heard the man shred. Big ups to Dave and the boys for bringing him on stage, as a fan and concert goer I thank them!
I have heard him shred. He's sick. But I don't think shredding and Dave really go together. Dave's a great guitarist too but he never shreds on any of his stuff.
The collaborations are definitely gold but from the concerts I've been to I'd have to say that I like them better without Tim. The simple fact is that in some cases, less is more. And I think that in many of Dave's songs, the best thing you can do is shut up. Lets not forget that Dave already has several amazing musicians as it is.
@acb21289 I absolutely agree about Tim Reynolds being a huge contributing factor to the band...especially live. Tim was actually on all three of their first albums (under the table, Crash, and Before these crowded streets) And also joined dave for his solo album, and rejoined the band for Big Whiskey.
he's ben jaffe, a bass player from new orleans, if you listen to the new studio video wit good headphone sor speakers you can clearly hear a double bass being played with a bow

Who is "Johnny White" that he keeps referring to? Is he talking about Dave? he says "I ain't got Johnny White's money yet. Big Whiskey. Big whiskey."
Love it.

Agree - cool moment to have on film!
But how about spelling his name LeRoi instead? :P - hehe joking

oops, i knew it was wrong as soon as I hit post comment. but it is the thought that counts.
ac3jc 2 years ago
Yeah, it was really just a stupid comment from me, but I tend to do that whenever I see his name spelled wrong. Glad you're cool

its easy to be cool when you love a band like the DMB. have you seen this? cbsnews(dot)com/video/watch/?id=5052066n
