ATTENTION....To everyone that sees the DO NOT FLY sign, I've seen this field in other flying videos and the it reads; "DO NOT FLY AIRCRAFT OVER RIFLE RANGE". If you don't believe me look in some of Banana Hobby videos.
Hi Tony, Love your vids. How would you rate this P-51 against the Airfield F4U Corsair 1430, in terms of performance and ease of flying. I'm going to get one or the other very soon. Would appreciate any help in making my decision. Thanks! Mike Case.
Hi Tony, I really enjoy all your vids. You do a great job. Just curious how this P-51 compares with the Airfield F4U Corsair 1430 in terms of easy-to-fly and performance. I am an old-school RC flier with about a 35 year hiatus. I've been working on a sim, but I was wondering which of these two birds (P-51 and F4U) would be more forgiving and an easier fly for me. Thanks!
I love this plane, it just seemed a little slow at 1:35 you can see that se is basically full throttle and the plane seems to be almost creeping along....
My guess is that, just like in learning to fly real airplanes, one is advised to begin with the slower more forgiving airplanes like the single engine. Maybe even a biplane to begin with. Respectfully, RN
@ShakoSaber18 Yes, you can rechare li-po batteries. BUT DO NOT GET THIS PLANE!!!! you will crash it. Some one who has never flown before should get a Super Cub LP RTF from Hobbyzone. hope I could help.
@buffalowarrior I just got into planes last summer so I'm not exactly a pro but from my experience bigger flys better, I webt from small electric planes like the mini super cub and the bigger one and had felt i had mastered those then I switched to large nitro and electric planes and the difference was amazing, they have better control and glide easier and best they don't get tossed by the wind as easy. It also depends on flying space
Think I should pick up the smaller sized ARF 4-Ch P40 800mm 31.5" first? I have plenty of experience with helis, park fliers, and gliders but not much with faster larger planes...
@BuffaloWarrior7 After learning ailerons on a high wing, a newer pilots first low wing should be about 30" or so and parts should be readily available, when they have mastered that and have a few years experience then they can move to +45". Better planes do fly better in gusty areas but they also hit the ground harder, mistakes happen to all pilots.
@52kyt if the plane is electric it sholud be doing 5-8 minutes from what ive heard. but my uncle has a nitro P-51 and it flies for about 10 minutes. supposedly if you change the propellor it should get more flight time due to less wind resistance
Originally the date for release was end of Jan, but the 50mm still needed a few more revisions done to it so the date got pushed back. Hopefully they will be release around April.
Very nice flying plane, dont know what these people are complaining about, but it looks and flies very realistically. Come on people, $229 bucks for a complete plane, what more do you want! That wouldnt buy you a crappy radio when I started flying RC.
When the vid showed the TX Tony was flying at full throttle, but for most of the flight he was only flying at 50% to 75% throttle. He only went full throttle for the low passes
In Summary, the video does provide a very good representation of how this model does fly. However, my model came with pre-cut flaps "and" with flap servos pre-installed (Of course my model did not come from Nitro) and there is different versions out there and mine is version #3 (Retracts, Flaps and re-enforced wing assembly).
Lessons Learned, and assuming your model came with the FMS Model ESC and Motor (600Kv motor and 40-AMP ESC), I would recommend to install an external BEC!
The retract servos are not weak, and you need to adjust the end point travel a little so they can go all the way in the wheel well. I personally had not needed to use Loc Tite on the grub screws for the retracts as this then does not allow easy adjustment. Those Grub screws hold very well without any Loc Tite.
Thanks for the tip. I am so used to the RC cars and heli's about using loctite on all metal to metal contact. The TX does not have any end point adjustments so I could not adjust how much throw I wanted. Don't get me wrong the wheels do retract in all the way but when flying at full throttle the wheels seem to have a hard time retracting back in like it's not strong enough.
I went to buy this today at NP and it was sold out. You guys have a good website but it is frustrating to see "Item out of stock" on half the items per page. Sounds like business is good though.
Using the 2-blade that came iwith my model, I found my throttle setting at nothing above 1/2 throttle position using Spektrum DX7 and AR7000 RX. The 4-Blade propeller is about the same but, slower in airspeed.
My model came with the G&C 3648-Kv600 (600Kv motor) and it provides lots of power with the Stock Battery pack. The 2-Blade that came with my model (13 X 9) looks identical to the "Sport" APC propeller provides lots of additional airspeed and the tail does not wallow like in Tony's Video. Using the 4-blade propeller my models does the same thing!
@GrubFlyer Yeah at 1:39 you can see how slow it's going for full throttle. One would be much better off with a Parkzone warbird, but that's just my opinion since I own 3 of them!

One more thing Tony, Does your LED lighting system support the length for this plane?
CrazyEnergy2 2 years ago
CrazyEnergy2
The lighting system was design for the EDF jets which has a shorter wingspan. Yoy may have to lenghten the wires if you want to use them on the P51
I would say the planes flies about 40-50mph with the 4 blade prop. Yup the P-51 is a very popular model not to mention how cheap it is :D

I don't think so since the plane is made out of foam. Foam and gas do not mix well, but with a little mods anything is possible.

Your fighting 2 items RE the retracts.
There 100 degree or better. To get them to lock up your going to need to remove some foam from the wheel well.
As noted the retract servos are also marginal at best.
Kudos for the nice video and disclosure.

how much of a speed increase did you see with the 2 blade prop?

@ddrlankyj
About another 10 MPH as the motor now can spin a little faster due to the lesser load on it comparing it to the 4-blade.
