Here's my idea: fit the plane out with such strong doors that its impossible for anyone to break into the cockpit and don't allow the pilots to leave the cockpit or anyone to enter during the flight.
If I had to improve it even more I could: soundproof the cockpit and make sure communication can be cut off completely with the outside, so terrorists can't use hostages to convince the pilots to open. As soon as a hijacking is detected, the pilots just refuse communication and land the plane.
@thisissparta9 My main reason was that if they couldn't communicate with the pilot, it would be impossible to get the pilot to open the door- you couldn't threaten to kill hostages- and so no point in hijacking the plane in the first place. If they just want to kill people, then why hijack a plane first? The plot to take back the plane in this film would have succeeded if the terrorists didn't have access to the cockpit so it might also give the passengers a better chance of taking the plane back.

Here's my idea: fit the plane out with such strong doors that its impossible for anyone to break into the cockpit and don't allow the pilots to leave the cockpit or anyone to enter during the flight.
If I had to improve it even more I could: soundproof the cockpit and make sure communication can be cut off completely with the outside, so terrorists can't use hostages to convince the pilots to open. As soon as a hijacking is detected, the pilots just refuse communication and land the plane.

@thisissparta9 My main reason was that if they couldn't communicate with the pilot, it would be impossible to get the pilot to open the door- you couldn't threaten to kill hostages- and so no point in hijacking the plane in the first place. If they just want to kill people, then why hijack a plane first? Plus I reckon the type who would do that would be on a suicide mission and would be planning to kill everyone anyway and so cockpit access would only make things worse....contd

@thisissparta9 also, I reckon its hard to get any real bomb on a plane big enough to take it down or any weapons lethal enough to kill everyone without being overpowered. The plot to take back the plane in this film would have succeeded if the terrorists didn't have access to the cockpit so it might also give the passengers a better chance of taking the plane back.
Here's the flaw: the terrorists could call the authorities who could contact the pilots...I didn't think of that b4!
