However, George W did not govern by executive order like Obama is and he did not try to silence his detractors as Obama wants to do by reinstituting the Fairness Doctrine. Many (including myself) didn't agree with many of Bush' policies but he was far more competent than Obama.

And whatever Obama wants to do to silence his detractors, his detractors seem to be the loudest and most vocal segment of the American population. Bush on the other hand wholeheartedly took up the idea of Free Speech Zones, moving said zones far away from any Presidential parade so he wouldn't have to look at what his detractors were saying. Bush was damn near dictatorial, Obama let you have your freedom.

Very sad, Nixon was actually a decent President. He got us out of the War in Vietnam, started the EPA, gave us positive relations with China... But for some reason, he felt he had to spy on Democrats, and cheat the election to win his second term.... With all the postive things he did do, he probably would have won anyway.

@galaxywarper92 What? He ran a campaign against the war in Vietnam and then immediately escalated the war to include an illegal expansion into Cambodia. Positive relations with China to include handing over our manufacturing base in exchange for cheap goods purchased by ever-increasing US debt made possible through fiat money and petrodollar recycling (both Nixon legacies). Nixon was a criminal, but Watergate was the least of his offenses.

I know people hate this man but, I cannot help but find him and his terms in office the most interesting times of the 20century.
I even named my company after him. In the bad things that happened under his watch, the good out weighed it. Russia, China and USA all talking and trading was his dream! R.I.P. to the unsung hero of the 20 century

Poor Nixon. He could've been a great President. He had all the tangible qualities: great diplomat, hard worker, able to work with the other side. Unfortunately, he was nuttier than Snickers bar and his paranoia got the best of him. It's sad to think about what could have been.
