I haven't seen the movie but what I'm hearing him say is that privatizing companies bleed the government dry. Republican free market bullshit at its best.
There was ONE incident where a judge got kickbacks--so should we scrap the justice-system as well?
But Moore always says that government can do no wrong, and he IGNORES the mega-corruption and incompetence of the public sector, straining out private-sector gnats and swallowing government camels.
as far as surgery is concerned, i dont think ive ever paid for anything. we only pay for prescriptions and sometimes the govt covers those as well. you guys should raise taxes on the rich and charge it to them. theyre making way too much money. in america the richest 1% have more money than the 95% combined lol. charge those fuckers. email your politician and complain. obama has more money from wall st then all 8 republicans. wats wall st expecting in return???
How corrupt is Moore? He goes to any lengths to embarrass and humiliate anyone he considers an enemy, but then when he's the subject of corrupt coercion by a person he who is a fellow partisan, suddenly he protects the identity of such scum? He's a fraud and a pseudo-intellectual huckster of the politics of envy. How anyone can take him seriously is a mystery to me.
to me he seems full of shit. who would call and warn him to shut it and say there name. why not have someone eles do it and he wont mention who but hes ok with saying what the other guys name is and that he was getting nice loans idts
Hey Mikey, if you want universal healthcare, move to another country. You're obviously too stoopid to realize that handing over that much power to the feds would be economically suicidal. Keep the govt out of it and let the private sector drive the prices down. Look up Stanislaw Burzinski to find out how he was absolutely trampled by the govt and FDA when he started showing his cancer treatment. TOTAL SCUMBAGS. Look up and watch BURZYNSKI on YouTube...
@cr500blur Why would this be economic suicide? "drive prices down" are you kidding? The whole point in this film is to show how, due to a capitalist system, profit are the only thing that matters, they are not driving prices down they are driving them up! How much does it cost you to get an asthma inhaler? or to get penicillin? or to get a doctor to see you? Whats the deductable when you break your arm? or when you need surgery? Because for me it costs me jack shit! There is no...
@vivalahendy - It would be suicide, because of the way it works with ANY intervention by govt. As soon as any business finds out that the govt will be paying, you WILL have corruption and price increases. That is why the govt can't get their sticky dirty little hands on it. It is why insurance prices are so high already.....the govt is involved. Look at the waste just in Medicare alone. When the private sector is involved, competition keeps prices reasonable because of choice.
@cr500blur this problem of corruption could be solved if the laws were in line with the crime. you steal from medicare you go to state prison, you steal $1000 5 years $100000 you get 20 years and for the really greedy people who steal 1,000,000 or more 30 years if you think this sentencing is to harsh think of the people who couldn't receive care because of all the thieves destroying the system over 70 billion stolen a year what a joke our government is
@cr500blur no fucking way. im canadian and i dont know how they calculated it on my last health care payment but anyways I PAID $70 FOR 4 MONTHS. you guys get fucked, those insurance companies stick it to you because they wana get rich UNLIKE our system where the gov't wants to break even.
@cr500blur your paying MORE the other way because the corporations want to make a big profit. the govt just wants to break even. its not rocket science and its the most simplistic argument on the issue. i just paid mine at 60% of the full rate (based on how much money i make each year) for 3 months and it was $76 total. i believe theres 40 million americas with NO health insurance. ill watch my fucking language.
@lee0122333 - what do you care? You're in Canada. The bottom line.....if care is better, someone has to pay. The payor is either the patient, the govt, or the insurer. There should be a balance, but like ANYTHING else, corruption happens. The patient doesn't want to pay for care, the doctor wants more, the insurer wants to cut costs. It is NOT simple....that's why it is so screwed up. Americans who don't have insurance can't afford it, and then end up getting it for free.
@cr500blur the basic idea is simple actually and im here cuz i feel bad for the ppl south of the border who are mistaken. your current system is based on profits. you need to take money out of hte equation. why would you think its complicated? because the lobbyists and politicians have convinced you otherwise? im curious wat you paid for the past 3 months. recently, my dad got a small tumor removed within a month or 2 after it being discovered, for free.
@cr500blur i hope you dont believe that. those last 3 sentences ruined it for me. everything else you've said were at least good ideas. of course they expect something and of course hes gonna return the favor. theres a guy with a last name Abramoff. one of the most corrupt lobbyists. he went to jail and now he wrote a book on why the system doesnt work. i havent read it yet, but i suggest you do. or at least look at his interviews.
@lee0122333 - know all about it. You are missing the point. Abramoff took advantage of the system, because he could. THAT is the problem. The system is broken and corrupt, whether you like it, believe it, disagree with it.....whatever. The govt being involved with public matters BREEDS corruption. PERIOD. If the govt wasn't involved, competition would correct the industry.
@cr500blur sounds to me like this post contradicts your last post. i agree with everything except that last sentence. thats totally wrong. are you telling me you would rather continue to have US healthcare privatized???? there was also a lobbyist for the health care system who realized how immoral he and the system was so he quit and wrote a book on it too.
@akgregor - What do you care about what's going on here. You're in Canada. You're still not getting it. So tell me....when will you get it? Govt breeds corruption in finances, because people see an easy and unregulated way to get cash. The free market? Not so much. As soon as a doctor has to COMPETE, prices go down. Happens all the time...
@akgregor the government is the public??????? Ha Ha what cave have you been living in? CNN and all media will not even mention Ron Paul's name. Corporations run the government......good thing you spent all that money on a bullshit education, I see it's making you smarter.
@cr500blur ... corporation deciding whether or not my surgery or my treatment is necessary or whether or not im covered. Free health care should be a right in America, as it is in every other industrialied country in the world, you system is SO corrupt and SO flawed it unbelievable. Can I just ask have have you seen Sicko? If not, watch it, if you have, how did you come to that conclusion?
@vivalahendy - Free healthcare a 'right'. Show in the COTUS where it would even remotely be an option. Healthcare should be driven by competition as there is money to be made because it is so necessary. The govt should only be involved as far as regulations go, but let the private sector work. As far as free, YOU have to be kidding. Move to Europe and see how far that gets you. Sounds like another gravy train to me. Sicko? I'll pass. It would need to be fair first...
@cr500blur ~ the private sector is a colossal failure in health care. it's grossly overpriced, half the country either has no access or can't afford access. tens of millions get no care or avoid the doctor because of costs. profit motivated private run health care is a cruel joke that incentivises profits over the well being of american citizens.
@cr500blur ~ well at least you admit american "health care is a failure". that's a start. but blaming the government for private failure is nonsense, just like blaming the government for the wall street economic crash is nonsense. the government subsidized these failed "free market" ponzi schemes.
america is the only western country that uses a private health care system, other countries use socialist universal health care and they all work better than our system.
I live in Pennsylvania.... It is as Draconian and Oppressive as it gets in America.. Lots of "Old Money" here.... Carnegie...... Rockerfeller ... Heinz... Mellon... lots of back room deals, and denial going on in Pa.... yes sir !!!!
Poor Micheal Moore so upset about the Democrat Party(that supports the little guy(yeah right)) but yet he still votes and supports them and does not see were the real corruption comes from.
@shutemdwn says the guy who makes his opinions based on physical appearance of the person with the idea as dictated by a corporate PR firm in a session probably titled, "What do we do about the Michael Moore problem."
@shutemdwn Why would you point out such a blatantly obvious thing? Do you tap people on the street and point at the sky and say. Sky 's blue? Kind of a simpleton thing to do don't you think? It is probably wise to keep your opinion to yourself. No one needs to re hear what a corporate PR firm has taught the sleeping masses to think.
@elbowbiter1 Hmm , why would you feel the need to point out a thing that someone has said or done that was so blatantly obvious? Do you go around and tap people on the shoulder and say hey " That shirt you have on that says ' shit happens' you know that's pretty well blatantly obvious? So, you see my act of simpleness is countered rather nicely by your act of hypocrisy. :P
@shutemdwn Nice reposte but my motives are a little deeper than that as I suspect yours are as well. If yours are not then your comment was the comment of a simpleton. So which is it I wonder. Were you just being a simpleton or were you slamming the messenger because you don't like the message. I suspect the former as no one is as simple as that, I dunno though, there are a lot of dimswitches out there.
A young girl goes to her doc. Doc, is it true that one can be pregnant through analsex? Of course my young friend. where do you think politicians come from.
@GutpileCharlie "Michael Moore is nothing but a fat, smarmy, morally and ethically deficient bag of shit."
Its strange to me that people hate Michael Moore so much, I mean he isn't a democratic partisan hack and he is very truthful he just has a different opinion than you. So what about Michael Moore is so bad, what has he done specifically to earn your ire? Just curious.
CAPITALISM creates ELITE CRIMINALS. BANKERS. DRUG LORDS. INEQUALITY. INSECURITY. GREED. RUTHLESS COMMUNISM. NWO. NAZI. TERRORISM. LAZY PEOPLE. REBEL POLITICIAN. ANARCHY. worst is WAR etc.. etc..
CAPITALISM was designed only for CORRUPT OPPORTUNISTIC MANIPULATIVE LAZY POLITICIAN. BANKERS. LAWYERS. DRUG LORDS. JUDGES. CRIMINALS. DICTATORS. RULERS. KING. SULTANATE. EMPEROR etc. etc..
HARD WORKING PEACE LOVING HAPPY HONEST SOCIETY were always the slave victim and poorly starve to death. :(
As much as I hate to admit that I agree with anything this fat socialist weasel says, he is right, Dodd was in large part responsible with Barney Frank for the housing crisis and associated leaning crisis. Him knowing that this is a fact kind of fly's in the face of who he says is to blame for the problem overall. He makes all kinds of statements about the evils of capitalism yet doesn't want to connect the dots as to what the problem is.
@maconsumner The guy genuinely cares about a sustainable equitable society and you spout off the same criticisms that were dreamed up in a Corporate PR Firm to smear the messenger. C'mon. Fat socialist weasels have good ideas too. Sure they don't say the things we've all been indoctrinated to believe but that doesn't mean that money and market systems (socialism included) are sustainable let alone equitable. Nor do they have anything to do with liberty (depending on your vision of liberty).
@elbowbiter1 This fat socialist weasel is at least intellectually dishonest. In this he sounds like he understands what and who caused the problems we have today rather than his silly pointless banter against the wealthy. This in normal people’s mind is a good starting point to understand what has happened to our economy, and I am sorry to inform you of this, but most who howl the loudest don’t understand the events that occurred and who did what. They are too busy blaming Bush
@maconsumner Yawn, c'mon now, make a statement. How is he being dishonest. If he is dishonest it's only as dishonest as the people that spout off your positions (what ever that is). All I can say is... anyone that is for money and markets... is also for suicidal mania. Bush, Clinton, Carter, Regan, Obama... it doesn't matter who's in power. Mr. Moore has come to that conclusion many a time. He is dishonest in that he deludes himself into thinking electing the right party will make a difference.
@elbowbiter1 No dispute with the party convolution point. However, it is worth noting that the D party is full of known Socialists now. What Mr.. Moore is dishonest about is his shining account of the Cuban medical system and it's method of administration. He is very pro Communist and there is no disputing that.
@maconsumner Did you grow up in a happy home? Did your mom charge you for 9 months lodging in her womb, titty suckle fees, room and board until adulthood? No. You cried and she stuffed a nipple in your mouth. You begged and you got what you want for Christmas. Sometimes you did your chores, sometimes you didn't; did she toss you out on your ass? You grew up in a communist institution called the family. Quit spouting off all opposing 'isms' like they are a pejorative (they're all =ly obsolete).
@maconsumner So how does he blame for the economy? Bush, well yes he is at fault; wall street, yes they are a problem to and what about Obama? Well actually he blames him too, so what is your point?
@thesparitan CRA of 1977 signed by Jimmy Carter and regulatory changes to it by Franks/Dodd are the cause of the housing and lending crisis. The cause of the job market being what it is has nothing to do with Wall St. but everything to do with the trade treaties that Clinton signed. Look at them and you could have a chance of knowing what you are talking about.
@maconsumner Were is your evidence of this? Also you said that Dodd/Frank bill was part of the cause of the housing and lending crisis, but it was signed into law July 21, 2010 so did work back in time? Serious you are blaming a bill that past two years after the crash for the crash, are you insane?
Michael Moore is a HYPOCRIT?????? Michael Moore is Anti-Capitalism? Michael Moore lies??? That is what Yahoo, etc. wants you to think! Don't buy the propaganda. Listen to him, not a spin on what he said by the controlled media. Yes, he has money, but look at what he is doing with his time and good fortune! He is a better voice for the people that all representatives combined. Yet the do EVERYTHING to make him the VILLIAN!
It is not just Dem vs Rep. It is every hard working person against all corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Moore states it plainly enough but not enough listen.
@bin1127 except the democrats want to put more power in the hands of bureaucrats while the republicans want more power for the people and the states. so moore is full of shit.
@hankofbklounge2 I wouldn't put it that way. There are dems and reps that are tearing the country apart. But there are still many worthy people on both sides that are genuinely working to make the country better. Support those that do, and kick the rest out of office.
Eric cantor shorts US bonds. so we can start with him.
Hey jim are ever going to paint the other side of my house ...Jim says..Nope! i say ok heres your full pay and see you next week ! Jim says and the price is going up ! oh ok how much more do i need to get ? dble
Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are so corrupt. I hate to admit it, but Michael Moore is right. They didn't regulate it, and guess what! They blamed Bush for their deregulation. Bush isn't innocent in all of this, but please, any rational person knows that the biggest fault lies in these 2 men.
***PEOPLE, PLEASE READ MY *COMMENTS IN THE YOUTUBE VIDEO “MICHAEL MOORE VISITS MADISON”!!! (THE ONE WITH OVER 500,000 VIEWS. MY COMMENTS BEGIN ON COMMENT PAGE 2)
Neither I live in the US nor I am American. But, I like this guy. He points all the shit going on in the US which concerns me because you guys spread the economical crisis to the entire world. He makes all the money out of pointing up the shit but he offers no solutions. Just like communists. Well, he is nice but needs to come up with solutions.
So I wonder if any of the Moore haters are ever going to get sick of facts and the reality of the situation right in front of our faces in America proving him right about GWB, the Iraq occupation, capitalism, the "just hurry up and die if your poor" health care system, gun control, etc, over, and over and over and over.. At least its entertaining watching them continuously spin and spin..
Anyone making less than about $15 an hour is underpaid in theory, because minimum wage should be about that if it was based on the ability for all workers to be paid a wage they can live on comfortably. But of course the government would never cough up the cash to pay back employers for the extra cost
@432ps1 It's always interesting that conservatives are so passionate about their uh.."viepoints", if you can call them that. You despise socialism but you love capitalism. That's fascinating. Look at what capitalism has done--caused unspeakable greed within our system and America is crubling apart because of it. Socialism is just a machine for greed--that's exactly what it is and all it is.
@ObiWanGinobiliTopFan What is greed? Do you think that Cuba doesn't run on greed? The old Soviet Union? China? History has shown us again and again that the greatest accomplishments in human history have come about as a result of individuals pursuing their own self interests, not government bureaus, and the most prosperous societies on earth with the highest standards of living have acheived this through the activities of a free market system. Poor people arent poor because rich people are rich.
@432ps1 This much is for sure-- poor people wouldn't be as poor if taxes were like they used to be-- mostly on the rich-- and if congress every finally got around to raising minimum wage to where it should be considering it should've been rising with inflation over the last few decades and hasn't
@432ps1 Yeah, just simply ignore the evidence of what a complete failure of capitalism has been by the situation right in front of our faces currently happening in the United Corporations of America. The best part is these are the people that "love America!" while they watch the corporate oligarchy flush the entire country down the toilet with a smile on their face. Conservatives worship at the church of the almighty dollar and couldn't give a fuck about anything except the rich staying rich.
@bigge525 Americans are getting stupider and stupider, and you're a perfect example. Moore is everything this country should flush down the toilet. If you think Marxist Socialism and Cuba are so great, please move there. You can get a $20 a month job and turn your wife and daughter into whores. Captalism is and has always been the most superior system for creating the most prosperity among the most people. The USSR didn't work, Cuba doesn't work, and Europe is in trouble.
@432ps1 What a shock, just fact-less generalizations, and name calling, I just can't figure out why conservatives are such a joke in the U.S. while they non-stop cry about Obama not being able to clean up what 8 years of cowboy conservatism in the white house did to the U.S. economy fast enough, and ignoring the facts that Regan, GHWB, and GWB, cost us millions of jobs and ran up 9 TRILLION in debt. Yeah, that wonderful market didn't have a thing to do with it's own crash in late 08! LOL LOL
Michael Moore really does think a lot of himself. I liked his film in the sense of what he was trying to show, but his opinions were very off base. Also could someone tell him what he supports is socialism not democracy. Perhaps on a local level what he proposes in theory can work, but not nation wide. He's out there, but always thinks he's the only sane voice.
Republicans just hate him becacsuse he speaks the truth, When Jesus was alive he was also hated for disagreeing with many acccepted facts, so all you chistians who hate Michael best think about your savior b4 u bash him
@whyamimrpink78 If FDR was so bad, why did the American people re-elect him FOUR times. Unrestrained business was destroying our economy. Something had to be done.
@mvonwahlde FDR was re-elected the same reason Bush was re-elected and Obama was elected, people aren't smart and look more at the person then the policies. We were in tough times and FDR was able sweet talk his was through those elections even though he kept prolonging the recession. His plans that increased the size of the federal government, took away state rights, and developed uncontrolled spending and taxes has now bankrupt our country and now my generations has to suffer. FDR ruined us.
@whyamimrpink78 Oh so it was FDR that crashed the system and left the people at 30% unemployment? You know, you are a joke and so are your kin. FDR enacted programs to soothe the people who were suffering and enacting massive reforms to prevent a crash like that again. He succeeded. We didn't have a crash until the 1980's when those horned Republicans came into office and started chipping away at the wall that kept the beasts out.
@Seedofwinter No, FDR didn't start the crash, but he prolonged it. Look at how long the economy suffered under him. It was the war the helped it get better. FDR brought about the idea that the federal government was there to give people things and help us out but really what that means is it is going to control you lives. Here we are being broke, can't pay for anything but yet no politician is willing to take a paycut. We also have uncontrollable unfair spending by the federal government.
@Seedofwinter You and your kin are a joke thinking that the federal government is there for you. Having to rely on it gives it power. The founding fathers didn't want that, they wanted a federal government that the people didn't have to rely on so we can control it. They wanted more state rights and have the states control the programs FDR set up, instead we have an overpowering federal government that only care about themself. Learn some history and government.
@whyamimrpink78 Dude, they were men from the 18th century, do you really think they knew everything?
If anything, they knew they didn't know everything and left a government that was able to add new amendments and pass new laws and start new foundations.
This paranoid response you fellas seem to have towards regulations and government assistance has been proven false. This a democracy. If you don't like what your elected representative is doing, vote him out. This argument is a red herring
@Seedofwinter The fouding fathers ran into the same problems then as we have now. Different states wanted different things for the government to do, so what they set up was a federal government to make sure we can control government, and the states to deal with the more finer issues like health care and environmental regulations. The left it up to the states to change but wanted a federal government that was resistant to change....
@whyamimrpink78 I don't disagree with you wholly, I do believe the States should have the wand to orchestrate a lot of laws
But this is where progressives part ways with Conservatives, Health Care should be available and affordable to everyone. Our system, as it stands, allows a monopoly sole control of Health insurance. Health care is vital for any grand Society and health insurance companies continue to hike rates. The same thing applies to environmental regulations and hurtful discrimination.
@Seedofwinter The idea of the federal government is to give us the ability to control government. You look at the rights it grants us they can't be used to control us, but for us to control them. It is up to the states, if their citizens want, to develop health care reform. Not every state wants it and every state deals with different health care issues. Same with environmental issues. States deal with those issues all the while we can still control our government with federal rights.
@whyamimrpink78 In my opinion, I don't think our reigns on government is compromised by making sure our citizens get affordable health care. Or by making sure these corporations aren't dumping toxic waste in our oceans and destroying our air and Earth's atmosphere. I believe this Democracy is entirely stable and can sustain it's level on government.
As far as health care goes, I think it's federal jurisdiction in the same way illegal immigration, discrimination, education and self defense is
@whyamimrpink78 I'd agree to VASTLY cut back the federal government if corporations no longer were treated as "people" under the law and if stockholders were personally liable for the acts of their corporation.
@Seedofwinter ....hints, 3/4 states to ratify an admendment, bicameral congress, checks and balances, etc. People don't mine government regulations or assistance, they just don't want the same ones in all states. My state doesn't want health care reform, then why force it down our throats? Or they want a different type of reform. It took the founders years to set up the country the way it is, they knew what they were doing.
@whyamimrpink78 The federal government is certainly not perfect, but it is our only hope of protecting us from corporations that would poison us with bad food, pollute our environment, and serve us with unstable banks! I can probably agree with many of your gripes about the federal government, but I can't think of a suitable replacement. State's rights would weaken our country's ability to defend itself from enemies abroad (among other things). We NEED the FDA and the FDIC, for example.
@mvonwahlde The states should control corporations and protect us from bad food and save the environment. The federal government has its hands full dealing with foreign affairs and building the federal army. Giving powers to the states won't weaken our country's ablility to defend itself, if anything it will strengthen because it will only have one budget to run, the defense budget.
@mvonwahlde Also, the whole theory of having small federal government is to give us a safety net against big government. You may see that government protecting the environment as good, but I can see it as their way of helping their buddy out through regulations (like buying a useless product the supposely helps the environment) or controlling business. At the local level we can control it better a change it. We can't do it so easily at the federal level....
@mvonwahlde ....Also, different states deal with different environmental issues. The federal government can't pass laws environment laws that will hurt businesses in some states when the law has no effect on that paticular environment. Let the states pass the laws. They know their environment so they should pass the laws. We need to stop this one size fits all mentality of the federal government. It has made uncontrollable spending and many problems.
@whyamimrpink78 If you don't have centralized environmental legislation, you get a race to the bottom as different states compete with corporations for new jobs. You can see this in the way States give ungodly tax breaks to corporations to lure their business away from other states.
@mvonwahlde Not really. There will always be liberals in every state. They will enforce environmental regulations that best fit their state, their population, and economy. Also, most people want environmental regulations, they just want what fits their area.
@whyamimrpink78 So Roosevelt was elected because "people aren't smart and look more at the person and the policies?" That might have worked in for the FIRST election, maybe the second, not the third and certainly not the fourth election.
"Roosevelt's plans . . . took away state's rights?" States rights got taken away sixty or seventy years before that! You might recall that several states abused their "state's rights" by enslaving human beings.
I honestly believe M. M. has good intentions, he just doesn't understand the "desert island scenario". The des. Is. Scen. is a group of people that land on a Desert Island. It doesn't matter how many. But the premise is, a part of that group can't boss around and take the others money and assets! You can't just take shit from people. You have to let people do what they want as long as they're doing the same thing. You don't just get to steal from people through taxes.
Our constitution was made to protect us from big government, to liberate us from religious tyranny - the British empire. Our constitution gives us liberty, this is something people take for granted because it has work for 224 years now. Now, people like Micheal Moore want to whip their ass with it.
Non-violently hasn't work up to now... You Americans need to get out the "pitchforks and torches" for once, let those in power know, there's still more of you than them, and they better watch their step.
@saturn2462002 how about instead of denying food to HIM, you don't kill people for one day, and use that saved money on bombs, to feed the Africans. Oh but, I guess 4 wars now brings in the real dough right? For you?
This man is the voice for all people, even the ignoran tbrainwashed right, of whom many are not concerned with the little peole, the hungry, oppressed, jobless, the sick. I dearly hope at this point many on the right, especially the elitists of the world, have a plan to bribe their way into heaven when they stand before God. Perhaps they could slide a cool mil into Jesus's palm and he'll let them in ?
@tommyg524 Maybe they could offer him those interest free loans, to buy some fish and bread... or maybe they could throw him a few millions for his re-election campaign. Oh wait he's already been elected FOREVER... :-)
I like it how republicans are so desperate to discredit Michael Moore. It shows how threatened they are, and Michael isn't even that good at what he does, I mean, he's good, but not compared to the big-shots like Penn and Teller. What really scares the republicans is his honesty: The guy isn't sugarcoating what he says one bit, and people still love him. Republicans require tons of flags and bibles and soldiers parading and shit just for people to give even the slightest damn...

Hey Mikey, if you want universal healthcare, move to another country. You're obviously too stoopid to realize that handing over that much power to the feds would be economically suicidal. Keep the govt out of it and let the private sector drive the prices down. There is no...
vivalahendy 3 months ago
@vivalahendy - It would be suicide, because of the way it works with ANY intervention by govt. As soon as any business finds out that the govt will be paying, you WILL have corruption and price increases. That is why the govt can't get their sticky dirty little hands on it. It is why insurance prices are so high already.....the govt is involved. Look at the waste just in Medicare alone. When the private sector is involved, competition keeps prices reasonable because of choice.
cr500blur 2 months ago
@cr500blur this problem of corruption could be solved if the laws were in line with the crime. you steal from medicare you go to state prison, you steal $1000 5 years $100000 you get 20 years and for the really greedy people who steal 1,000,000 or more 30 years if you think this sentencing is to harsh think of the people who couldn't receive care because of all the thieves destroying the system over 70 billion stolen a year what a joke our government is
beyourselfful 2 months ago
@cr500blur no fucking way. im canadian and i dont know how they calculated it on my last health care payment but anyways I PAID $70 FOR 4 MONTHS. you guys get fucked, those insurance companies stick it to you because they wana get rich UNLIKE our system where the gov't wants to break even.
lee0122333 2 months ago
@lee0122333 - and then? Care goes down, and the govt is picking up the tab, so taxpayers are paying in the end.
Nice language...
cr500blur 2 months ago
@cr500blur your paying MORE the other way because the corporations want to make a big profit. the govt just wants to break even. its not rocket science and its the most simplistic argument on the issue. i just paid mine at 60% of the full rate (based on how much money i make each year) for 3 months and it was $76 total. i believe theres 40 million americas with NO health insurance. ill watch my fucking language.
lee0122333 2 months ago
@lee0122333 - what do you care? You're in Canada. The bottom line.....if care is better, someone has to pay. The payor is either the patient, the govt, or the insurer. There should be a balance, but like ANYTHING else, corruption happens. The patient doesn't want to pay for care, the doctor wants more, the insurer wants to cut costs. It is NOT simple....that's why it is so screwed up. Americans who don't have insurance can't afford it, and then end up getting it for free.
cr500blur 2 months ago
@cr500blur the basic idea is simple actually and im here cuz i feel bad for the ppl south of the border who are mistaken. your current system is based on profits. you need to take money out of hte equation. why would you think its complicated? because the lobbyists and politicians have convinced you otherwise? im curious wat you paid for the past 3 months. recently, my dad got a small tumor removed within a month or 2 after it being discovered, for free.
lee0122333 2 months ago
@lee0122333 - someone paid for it besides him. No personal responsibility. The govt doesn't owe anyone.
cr500blur 2 months ago
@cr500blur i hope you dont believe that. those last 3 sentences ruined it for me. everything else you've said were at least good ideas. of course they expect something and of course hes gonna return the favor. theres a guy with a last name Abramoff. one of the most corrupt lobbyists. he went to jail and now he wrote a book on why the system doesnt work. i havent read it yet, but i suggest you do. or at least look at his interviews.

lee0122333 2 months ago
@lee0122333 - know all about it. You are missing the point. Abramoff took advantage of the system, because he could. THAT is the problem. The system is broken and corrupt, whether you like it, believe it, disagree with it.....whatever. The govt being involved with public matters BREEDS corruption. PERIOD. If the govt wasn't involved, competition would correct the industry.
cr500blur 2 months ago

Can I just ask have have you seen Sicko? If not, watch it, if you have, how did you come to that conclusion?
vivalahendy 3 months ago
@vivalahendy - Free healthcare a 'right'. Show in the COTUS where it would even remotely be an option. Healthcare should be driven by competition as there is money to be made because it is so necessary. The govt should only be involved as far as regulations go, but let the private sector work. As far as free, YOU have to be kidding. Move to Europe and see how far that gets you. Sounds like another gravy train to me. Sicko? I'll pass. It would need to be fair first...
cr500blur 2 months ago
@cr500blur ~ the private sector is a colossal failure in health care. it's grossly overpriced, half the country either has no access or can't afford access. tens of millions get no care or avoid the doctor because of costs. profit motivated private run health care is a cruel joke that incentivises profits over the well being of american citizens.
in the end it costs us more and we get less.
single payer is the best system of health care.
tomitstube 2 months ago

america is the only western country that uses a private health care system, other countries use socialist universal health care and they all work better than our system.

He makes all kinds of statements about the evils of capitalism yet doesn't want to connect the dots as to what the problem is.
maconsumner 3 months ago
@maconsumner The guy genuinely cares about a sustainable equitable society and you spout off the same criticisms that were dreamed up in a Corporate PR Firm to smear the messenger. C'mon. Fat socialist weasels have good ideas too. Sure they don't say the things we've all been indoctrinated to believe but that doesn't mean that money and market systems (socialism included) are sustainable let alone equitable. Nor do they have anything to do with liberty (depending on your vision of liberty).
elbowbiter1 3 months ago
@elbowbiter1 This fat socialist weasel is at least intellectually dishonest. In this he sounds like he understands what and who caused the problems we have today rather than his silly pointless banter against the wealthy. This in normal people’s mind is a good starting point to understand what has happened to our economy, and I am sorry to inform you of this, but most who howl the loudest don’t understand the events that occurred and who did what. They are too busy blaming Bush
maconsumner 3 months ago
@maconsumner Yawn, c'mon now, make a statement. How is he being dishonest. If he is dishonest it's only as dishonest as the people that spout off your positions (what ever that is). All I can say is... anyone that is for money and markets... is also for suicidal mania. Bush, Clinton, Carter, Regan, Obama... it doesn't matter who's in power. Mr. Moore has come to that conclusion many a time. He is dishonest in that he deludes himself into thinking electing the right party will make a difference.
elbowbiter1 3 months ago
@elbowbiter1 No dispute with the party convolution point. However, it is worth noting that the D party is full of known Socialists now. What Mr.. Moore is dishonest about is his shining account of the Cuban medical system and it's method of administration. He is very pro Communist and there is no disputing that.

ObiWanGinobiliTopFan 7 months ago
@ObiWanGinobiliTopFan What is greed? Do you think that Cuba doesn't run on greed? The old Soviet Union? China? History has shown us again and again that the greatest accomplishments in human history have come about as a result of individuals pursuing their own self interests, not government bureaus, and the most prosperous societies on earth with the highest standards of living have acheived this through the activities of a free market system. Poor people arent poor because rich people are rich.
432ps1 7 months ago
@432ps1 This much is for sure-- poor people wouldn't be as poor if taxes were like they used to be-- mostly on the rich-- and if congress every finally got around to raising minimum wage to where it should be considering it should've been rising with inflation over the last few decades and hasn't
ObiWanGinobiliTopFan 7 months ago
@432ps1 Yeah, just simply ignore the evidence of what a complete failure of capitalism has been by the situation right in front of our faces currently happening in the United Corporations of America. The best part is these are the people that "love America!" while they watch the corporate oligarchy flush the entire country down the toilet with a smile on their face. Conservatives worship at the church of the almighty dollar and couldn't give a fuck about anything except the rich staying rich.

LOL LOL

@whyamimrpink78 If FDR was so bad, why did the American people re-elect him FOUR times. Unrestrained business was destroying our economy. Something had to be done.
mvonwahlde 7 months ago
@mvonwahlde FDR was re-elected the same reason Bush was re-elected and Obama was elected, people aren't smart and look more at the person then the policies. We were in tough times and FDR was able sweet talk his was through those elections even though he kept prolonging the recession. His plans that increased the size of the federal government, took away state rights, and developed uncontrolled spending and taxes has now bankrupt our country and now my generations has to suffer. FDR ruined us.
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@whyamimrpink78 Oh so it was FDR that crashed the system and left the people at 30% unemployment? You know, you are a joke and so are your kin. FDR enacted programs to soothe the people who were suffering and enacting massive reforms to prevent a crash like that again. He succeeded. We didn't have a crash until the 1980's when those horned Republicans came into office and started chipping away at the wall that kept the beasts out.
You need to go learn something.
Seedofwinter 7 months ago
@Seedofwinter No, FDR didn't start the crash, but he prolonged it. Look at how long the economy suffered under him. It was the war the helped it get better. FDR brought about the idea that the federal government was there to give people things and help us out but really what that means is it is going to control you lives. Here we are being broke, can't pay for anything but yet no politician is willing to take a paycut. We also have uncontrollable unfair spending by the federal government.
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@Seedofwinter You and your kin are a joke thinking that the federal government is there for you. Having to rely on it gives it power. The founding fathers didn't want that, they wanted a federal government that the people didn't have to rely on so we can control it. They wanted more state rights and have the states control the programs FDR set up, instead we have an overpowering federal government that only care about themself. Learn some history and government.
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@whyamimrpink78 Dude, they were men from the 18th century, do you really think they knew everything?
If anything, they knew they didn't know everything and left a government that was able to add new amendments and pass new laws and start new foundations.
This paranoid response you fellas seem to have towards regulations and government assistance has been proven false. This a democracy. If you don't like what your elected representative is doing, vote him out. This argument is a red herring
Seedofwinter 7 months ago
@Seedofwinter The fouding fathers ran into the same problems then as we have now. Different states wanted different things for the government to do, so what they set up was a federal government to make sure we can control government, and the states to deal with the more finer issues like health care and environmental regulations. The left it up to the states to change but wanted a federal government that was resistant to change....
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@whyamimrpink78 I don't disagree with you wholly, I do believe the States should have the wand to orchestrate a lot of laws
But this is where progressives part ways with Conservatives, Health Care should be available and affordable to everyone. Our system, as it stands, allows a monopoly sole control of Health insurance. Health care is vital for any grand Society and health insurance companies continue to hike rates. The same thing applies to environmental regulations and hurtful discrimination.
Seedofwinter 7 months ago

As far as health care goes, I think it's federal jurisdiction in the same way illegal immigration, discrimination, education and self defense is
Seedofwinter 7 months ago
@whyamimrpink78 I'd agree to VASTLY cut back the federal government if corporations no longer were treated as "people" under the law and if stockholders were personally liable for the acts of their corporation.
mvonwahlde 7 months ago
@Seedofwinter ....hints, 3/4 states to ratify an admendment, bicameral congress, checks and balances, etc. People don't mine government regulations or assistance, they just don't want the same ones in all states. My state doesn't want health care reform, then why force it down our throats? Or they want a different type of reform. It took the founders years to set up the country the way it is, they knew what they were doing.
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@whyamimrpink78 The federal government is certainly not perfect, but it is our only hope of protecting us from corporations that would poison us with bad food, pollute our environment, and serve us with unstable banks! I can probably agree with many of your gripes about the federal government, but I can't think of a suitable replacement. State's rights would weaken our country's ability to defend itself from enemies abroad (among other things). We NEED the FDA and the FDIC, for example.
mvonwahlde 7 months ago
@mvonwahlde The states should control corporations and protect us from bad food and save the environment. The federal government has its hands full dealing with foreign affairs and building the federal army. Giving powers to the states won't weaken our country's ablility to defend itself, if anything it will strengthen because it will only have one budget to run, the defense budget.
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@mvonwahlde Also, the whole theory of having small federal government is to give us a safety net against big government. You may see that government protecting the environment as good, but I can see it as their way of helping their buddy out through regulations (like buying a useless product the supposely helps the environment) or controlling business. At the local level we can control it better a change it. We can't do it so easily at the federal level....
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@mvonwahlde ....Also, different states deal with different environmental issues. The federal government can't pass laws environment laws that will hurt businesses in some states when the law has no effect on that paticular environment. Let the states pass the laws. They know their environment so they should pass the laws. We need to stop this one size fits all mentality of the federal government. It has made uncontrollable spending and many problems.
whyamimrpink78 7 months ago
@whyamimrpink78 If you don't have centralized environmental legislation, you get a race to the bottom as different states compete with corporations for new jobs. You can see this in the way States give ungodly tax breaks to corporations to lure their business away from other states.
mvonwahlde 7 months ago

Moore is a liar. I can tell you tons of crap that he put in his movie Roger and Me that wasn't true. He was sued by someone in that movie.

Our constitution was made to protect us from big government, to liberate us from religious tyranny - the British empire. Our constitution gives us liberty, this is something people take for granted because it has work for 224 years now. Now, people like Micheal Moore want to whip their ass with it.

No matter what you think he is involved in politics which puts him two steps ahead of most Americans liberal or conservative.

Non-violently hasn't work up to now... You Americans need to get out the "pitchforks and torches" for once, let those in power know, there's still more of you than them, and they better watch their step.

Moore is an ASS. We could save hundreds of African villages if they had the food wasted on this guy every day.
