  • Woh! I've always wondered why everyone was so swept away by Insomnium, i never gave them a chance, never heard them out except now and I will now remain a fan for all eternity.

  • 1:47 so many emotions...

  • HDOEGDO ya mohamed ya 7asan.

  • Insomnium's best intro so far. No words can describe the beauty of this masterpiece. I know that it will probably sound far-fetched, but I actually consider this one of the best pieces of music ever created. The riff starting at 2:18 just blows me away. The whole song is so atmospheric and emotional. "Across The Dark" couldn't have had a stronger start.

  • @YNLIIMH Inertia is pretty amazing, too. Very comparable in my opinion

  • @KennyFlameOfFire I think someone forgot to tell you that Slipknot sucks........sorry bro.

  • @mawalton91 Mate i listen to all sorts of metal music. And Slipknot is just different, not bad. When you just stare out the window and think. This music is the best metal music if you ask me. But if your gonna Beat the crap outa somebody i prefer Slipknot.

  • and why someone should tell him what opinion to have?

  • Hey guys, wanna listen to this but 100000 times better?

  • I always think of this song as an extended intro to Down With The Sun

  • @N4BZi I always have that feeling 2 , it just sounds like 1 long song !

  • @N4BZi it is. or so have insomnium said

  • <333

  • Fucktastic! Beautiful!

  • DOOD!! that kicks ass!!! 8DDD <3

  • Oh, this band.. I have no words, I've been searching so long for a band that's not only great at making music, but also can make these amazing lyrics.. they touch my soul.

  • Amazing song, beatiful

  • I think HLGViper's comment is one of the best comments on youtube, as well as this being one of the best and most beatiful songs on youtube.

  • Ohh the end of this song begins Down with the sun! :O

  • This has a post-rock touch to it.Great song.

  • I still keep my statement....this band is so underrated xx

  • ᠎᠌᠌᠌᠌᠋

  • meilleur album de metal mélodique jamais entendu, Insomnium est maintenant gravé sur ma peau, un tatouage avec les premières notes d'Equivalence parceque jamais un album n'a pu me procurer autant d'émotions

  • Hoping this was a national anthem. Raw emotion and energy.

  • Gr8

  • This is a Tune! Love it, its just pure epic...leading up to 1:50 and then ending in a perfect way to start the next song; 'Down with the sun'

  • @blackfoxmp5

:) I don't try to dictate people's taste in music, if I did then I would be spamming useless coments on their music videos. No I was making the point that this is music, no matter what others say, they can call it shit but in my opinion, their just being hypocrites.

  • Pure emotion, this is truely emotion, how can someone call Justin Bleiber or Britainy Spears music? They have no emotion in their music, they call this music crap, but what the fuck do they know? THIS is music.

  • @anthoes1 Although I agree with you, being a metal head, I disagree to an extent, being a liberal thinker. People's taste in music is subjective. I know plenty of people who wouldn't like this kind of music and prefer the music you abhor. Even your idea of "emotion" is subjective. Just enjoy the music you enjoy and let folks listen to what they wanna hear.

  • all 100% likes, THATS THE GOOD SHIIT

  • I'm the 100th person who likes it!!! Yeeeeeah....:)

  • Just so you know I read your comment a few months ago. It sounded corny, but I dicided to give this band a try. Now it's one of my favorites. Thanks, I guess. Stay Metal. \m/

  • I do love this band because with there lyrics they might lead you into the dark, but most of the time they lead you out.

  • @ForsakenTank they do and it's hard for a lot of people to understand that, but listening to this band makes you feel a lot better a lot of times.

  • i smoked to this song.

  • @10pencils Was it marijuana? Hahaha.

  • Amazing song. <3

  • Damn.. this simply leaves you speechless! While listening to it, it really feels like your mind gets evaded.. to some kind of different world.. Absolutely beautiful!

  • i just started listening to them(for which im really ashamed of) and i cant help but think how FUCKING AWESOME THEY ARE!!!!

  • i just started listening to them(for which im really ashamed of) and i cant help but think how FUCKING AWESOME THEY ARE!!!!

  • 2:18 -nuff said

  • @madlarkin117 damn right

  • it is not hard to listen this kind of music the worst is that I can not stop to listen it.

  • Does anyone know of any other bands or songs similar to this? I love their melodies and i'd like to find other songs with similar symphonic sounds.

  • @Nisshoku

For me it's just perfect. I saw them live with this very song at the beginning and it was absolutly the best start for the entire gig (not compared to the main cast, ofcourse :P)

  • Fucking amazing and so beatiful...! Im looking forward see them in few days in Brno!!!

  • Grand Opener. Nice

  • Honestly older insomnium albums are way better than across the dark. The new album still lacks good lyrics except of Equivalence and Weighted down with sorrow. But the music is very good.

  • If I were an MMA fighter and needed an entrance song it would be this followed by Down With The Sun.

  • @ChipotlayAway

I think that's a bit too long for an entrance song. :)

  • I said this on another Insomnium video...

These guys' music are a modern version of Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, etc. music.

  • Very few bands can create such awesome atmosphere! It feels like you're floating in the air. I also enjoy a lot the duality of the lyrics: depressive ("Get drunk from despair") but with a positive outlook ("Daylight holds sway").

    Across the Dark indeed!

  • Depressive is different than emo you dubmass, melancholic and doomy isn't fucking emo, screaming about how your life sucks while cutting your self is emo

  • @GTASbo0mst1ck very well said my friend

  • why did it have too stop! I could keep listening forever!

  • Ah, I remember a cool autumn day, I was riding my bike home from school. The ground was moist from rain earlier and orange leaves were blowing in the wind. The brownish meadows with hills and slopes to the left of the contained a football field where kids were standing lined up for practice, and a flock of crows took of from the middle of the meadows. This intro was playing on my mp3. I shedded a tear. So goddamn beautiful.

  • @HLGViper Not to sound weird but this happened to me too :P

  • @HLGViper Weirdo

  • @madlarkin117

I'm content with myself, are you?

  • @HLGViper man, I feel you. Insomnium has the most haunting music.

  • @HLGViper LOL!!!!!!!

  • @HLGViper I remember a day where..., I was drunk and i fell music..... +1 to the isomnium and your comment...Really I can feel this poem :) you say

    In Flames I trust

    In Insomnium I believe

  • @HLGViper

Oh yes.. i remember too.... i walk in the winter in the forrest... the snow fall... it was so beatiful..

  • @HLGViper Beautiful indeed goodsir. I wish I could have seen what you were lucky to experience.

  • @HLGViper That's so awesome :o

  • @HLGViper Metal goes great with Autumn.. I know that exact feel. Those months are usually depressing as hell but for thanks to music like this, it gives me the strength to pull through it. A lot of people don't like metal, they think its just noise. Insomnium and Opeth are two bands of the many that can counter that statement. There is beauty behind the screaming but also, within it directly. You can feel the emotion throughout it. Your post is the best I've ever seen on youtube, ever. Namaste.

  • @xXxDjShamblesxXx

I've usually not bothered replying to comments on my comment, seeing as they're usually contentless, but I had to honor your well thought-out reply with a reply of my own. I recognize this seasonal change in mood, I too have a tendency of becoming severely depressed during autumn and winter, and as you said, music like this takes a lot of weight off your shoulders. I appreciate that you enjoyed my comment, and Namaste to you too.

  • @HLGViper you painted the perfect picture. like poetry, my friend. I also shed a tear.

  • Insomnium is sooo emo, but in a non gay way, its the most beautiful metal ive ever heard in my life. My favorite band EVER

  • @atthegates1987 this is real emotion and not bullshit

  • u guys are dumbasses. the best intro is from "the gale"

  • @DevilMayEmo I basically love them both equally, but I slightly prefer this one because I get a more melancholic feeling when hearing it.

  • @Airlight Agreed! I love Gale, but this is just so fucking melodious and captures your attention and makes you wait for that moment when all hell breaks loose

  • @kissofdeathisraja agree completely

  • @DevilMayEmo just because your taste differs slightly from ours, why call us dumbasses? You are one just for that

  • i think this is the best intro ever i am practicing how to play it on bass and it works hail to you who love insomnium and especially this song for holland :P

  • @equilibrium951 Think am gonna go with you and learn this on bass as well :)

  • epic intro...

  • SIMPLY THE BEST...

  • this is the best music i heard in a long .. time.. after my grandma found out that INSOMNIUM song have emotionality. she love them....

  • @hewlee tats a cool grandma u gt thr :)... ;)

  • @hewlee omfg id love it so much if any of my relatives loved insomnium, or death metal in general, my grandparents are still into operas

  • @YourRoadToHell LOL same here, holy shit thats an awesome grandma!!

  • @hewlee brutal granny

  • its great that metal can move you to dominate another life with malicious intent...but when it can also inspire you to rethink your actions in life or resurrect thoughts of a lost one or an escaped love, thats a gift given by the gods

    \m/ \m/

  • It's good to see that there are still bands out there that can play good awe-inspiring metal, in a world full of poppy re-runs and mashups and fake metal it's fuckin refreshing

    LONG LIVE METAL!

  • Feed off the melancholy

    Get drunk from despair

Rejoice in the name of failure

    Deliverance found in pain

    Live, learn and love

    Treasure all the colours

Even in the thick of night

    Daylight holds sway

  • Nice song/intro.

  • Can't wait to get this new album
