I don't think that this song talks about suicide. Rather, this song paints a vivid picture of some one as they are experiencing death. As they slip further into dying, everything becomes much clearer to them. they no longer see the world as twisted and crazy, but rather underneath the illusion, the world is truly beautiful inside and out as God intended it to be. Thats just a thought!

In my opinion, it's about how the singer gets treated like shit day-to-day, and he gets sick of it and commits suicide. The title "No Surprises" referring to his death as one that isn't a surprise, but he knows that hes going to die right then and there.

I'd really appreciate how much effort and how many takes he did for this video. It can't be easy to keep such a clam expression when you're doing this. The lights and text reflecting was a really perfect addition too. It's impressive to make such an interesting music video with one static camera and in one take.

For anyone wondering HOW he held his breath that long, in actuality he didn't.

That particular portion of the music video is filmed in about x2 or x3 speed. Then it is just slowed down in the editing to make it fit into the music video correctly. You can tell by how fast the water rises over him from his eyes to the top in comparison to from the bottom to when he goes under.

He really only holds his breath for around 20 seconds.

"Such a pretty house..." shows that to the outside world, everything seems fine, but if you knew what happens inside, you would understand why he died.
