  • How do i set the internal settings to get the original script sound?

  • Driver 8, take a break...

  • Just picked up one of these. Aaaand credit goes to this video. PGS and Andy are class.

  • how does this differ from the dyna comp?

  • will this pedal take a 9v adapter or is battery only....thanks

  • is the rothwell love squeeze a lot better than this? what diferences would I notice?

  • WILCO!! Impossible Germany, amazing solo.

  • What make this different than the MXR Dyna Comp?

  • I noticed this isn't on your site anymore? Are you reevaluating your stock? I also didn't see the Throbak sTone Bender...

  • At 3:47, it turns on by itself!

  • Andy. Great demo.. This is probably one of your best demos. I got this pedal because of this demo. The thing that blew me away was how quiet this pedal is and how versatile it is. The only minus is the attack and trim on the inside, I have to open it up every time, but who cares, this is one of those diamond in the rough mass produced pedals.

  • I love this thing ,ab'd it with dynacomp and custom comp is twice as good for twice the price. I play in a cover band and had to turn down but still hear myself .Totally fixed my sound situation. Even the drummer noticed .

  • Hi!

I need more sustain, this is good for more sustain?

  • WHAT OTHER PEDAL ARE YOU USING ?

  • Nels Solo!

  • Wilco!!!

  • Is this the same circuit as the '76 reissue dyna comp aside from the true bypass/dc input and so forth?

Kind of like how the EVH Phase 90 is the same pedal (in vintage mode) as the vintage reissue phase 90

  • is there a way to limit the amount of squash, without lowering sustain?

  • Andy, how would you say this pedal rates against the '76 RI? Thanks.

  • wheres the best place to put this on the board? before overdrives or after?

  • @jeroda25 most people put comp before overdrive

  • Comment removed

  • how does this compare to the Maxon CP101 compressor ? I'm looking to get that cello sustain on overdrive settings using a Les Paul / 335 especially when I cant drive the amp hard enough to get it naturally. thanks

  • For the money, this is one of the best compressors on the market. I was looking at a Keely compressor which I think is awesome but expensive. This is awesome and in comparison incredibly priced for what your getting.

  • i can see some mayer tones coming form this

  • Do you have a base recommendation for the two internal thumb wheel controls?

  • All of your demos are great!! I have bought many pedals because of your demos. Thanks.

  • @markb583 Thanks for watching!

    -PGS

  • hey I hope this is a good enough question for you to respond too, but I was wondering about how transparent this comp is compared to the dyna comp. I use the dyna on my board for sustain, but have been looking for a compressor that is transparent and wont squash my low end out of the mix. Would you say that this comp can still compress while getting that nice pushed tube sound from my amp?

  • can it be used with extreme high gain to add clarity, boost attack and, most importantly, add sustain?

  • @emperorofthenorth5 Yes, those are all qualities of a compressor, regardless of how much gain you use. Thanks for watching,

    -PGS

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos ah,thank you im always worried about noise and I need more sustain in my "heavy metal" tone and I would like to have the sustain on clean tones too

  • this sounds pretty good, and incredible for the price!

  • @FluffChop sounds cheesy actually xD

  • Driver 8. SWEET yet again love your choice of songs to demo this. Great pedal , great demo

  • Dear PGS: It would be awesome if you could possibly demo some Analogman pedals, theyre the best around and i think for the best pedal demos on the web, you guys should demo the best pedals.

  • @StaticsTV most people who care about their tone enough will have no problems with opening it up.

  • In this demo is the compressor before or after overdrive?

  • is there a reason why this pedal is cheaper than the dyna comp ?

  • @StormoRider - It's not, unless you're referring to the script logo '76 reissue Dyna Comp. The standard block logo Dyna Comp is significantly less expensive.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos yeah, but is there any reason? i believe this one is the same and more than the '76 RI

  • Wilco!!great demo as always!

  • I don't really like compression but this one is very convincing.

  • @andy92811 I bought one, hope I like it or I'll have to go mod a 76 ri script.

  • I play a Fender Telecaster, and i have a Vox Valvetronix. i play alot of thrash metal and i use the comp thats built into the amp on the distortion channel and it makes it sound gruntyer and heavyer. im buying a marshall jvm soon so ill need to get some pedals. which conp pedal works best with metal?

  • Very nice pedal, but the best stompbox comp is the supercomp by mxr... i love it!

  • speakers rattling now...arrg

  • @StaticsTV I agree. What's the rationale for having them on the inside?? Seems silly.

  • Nice Driver 8 intro.

  • REM again! great

  • My new favorite comp.

  • Driver 8, that really is something for an old R.E.M. fan like myself! Thumbs up!

  • Really dislike the way that MXR place the power supply input at the side ]: Does sound nice though! However Mr Squishy does it better in my opinion.

  • I think I might stick with my much loved DynaComp until I can afford a Farndurk.lol

  • A little WILCO "Impossible Germany", Andy?! Very nice!

  • What's better for compression, this or the Pigtronix Philosipher's Tone?

I need to know asap before I miss out on a great deal!

  • I'd still rather have the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone...

  • Ross compressors are where its at folks

  • @Phishboy26

No shit but they're like $300 IF you can find one!!!!

  • @Euphoriaman Ross comps are good after overdrives unlike others

  • lol, the track at the end is hilarious xD nice job! *thumb_up*

  • Hey PGS I think you should mention what overdrive you use in each demo.

  • @Den1sVengeance they can't 'cause Andy is using his Marshall BB :)))

  • @Den1sVengeance if its not a pedal shown in the video then its all from the amp he's using. (65 amp Soho, fender deluxe reverb, ect..)

  • Loved the bit of Wilco - Impossible Germany.

  • 1:27 - what kind of strat is that?

  • @Hugo509 i wanna know too. Thats strat in the background of the beginning looks dyno-mite!

  • @Hugo509 - Fender Custom Shop Relic Total Tone Series, conveniently for sale on our website.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Hey, wait a minute! You're just in this for the money aren't you?! Sellouts!

  • @skurtix - Hey, Andy's gotta eat just like everybody else...

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos I guess that's why real artists die at 27! Malnutrition

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos in order to adjust the attack and trim do you have to remove the back? i just dont understand how your supposed to be able to adjust it when its on the bottom. (awesome playing and great videos by the way Andy!)

  • @08pigeon - Yep, gotta take off the back to get to the trim pots. A screwdriver is all you need. Most people use a compressor in a "set it and forget it" fashion. It's not a pedal you would really need to tweak on stage much.

  • In this demo, is the distortion placed before or after the compressor in the signal chain?

  • @doctorgone Distortion after Compressor

  • Still not sure whether to get this one or the '76 Dyna Comp Script RI!

  • @DemoColorScheme I'd pick this one..... it's a custom compression you know, having all those options of compression it isn't so much limited.

  • @Den1sVengeance

What are you talking about .. ? This has exactly the same options as the Dyna Comp '76 Script RI .. The tone is just a little more transparent.

  • @DemoColorScheme Sorry! My bad then :P

  • @DemoColorScheme i played the script 76 and i seriously couldnt justify it more than the standard dyna comp which i ended up buying in the end.

where as this one i can hear the differences and personally prefer the 76/standard dyna comp

  • @DemoColorScheme Not quite, the two internal trim pots make it more versatile than the standard Dyna.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

Yeah, I knew about the internal trimpots, but still, a lot of folks won't even notice/tamper with those. It's still the question which ones sounds better to me. I like the classic squish provided by the Dyna Comp, so it might be best if I just went with the '76 Script RI.

  • Driver8!!!!!!!!

  • Kinda wish I didn't buy the Super Comp recently... eff.

  • i have a keeley 4 knob, so i hope i can be convinced

  • how transparent is this thing compared to the rothwell?

  • @yongling Yeah PGS you should do a battle between the Rothwell and the Custom Comp!!!

  • Fiko! :)))
