Andy. Great demo.. This is probably one of your best demos. I got this pedal because of this demo. The thing that blew me away was how quiet this pedal is and how versatile it is. The only minus is the attack and trim on the inside, I have to open it up every time, but who cares, this is one of those diamond in the rough mass produced pedals.
I love this thing ,ab'd it with dynacomp and custom comp is twice as good for twice the price. I play in a cover band and had to turn down but still hear myself .Totally fixed my sound situation. Even the drummer noticed .
how does this compare to the Maxon CP101 compressor ? I'm looking to get that cello sustain on overdrive settings using a Les Paul / 335 especially when I cant drive the amp hard enough to get it naturally. thanks
For the money, this is one of the best compressors on the market. I was looking at a Keely compressor which I think is awesome but expensive. This is awesome and in comparison incredibly priced for what your getting.
hey I hope this is a good enough question for you to respond too, but I was wondering about how transparent this comp is compared to the dyna comp. I use the dyna on my board for sustain, but have been looking for a compressor that is transparent and wont squash my low end out of the mix. Would you say that this comp can still compress while getting that nice pushed tube sound from my amp?
@ProGuitarShopDemos ah,thank you im always worried about noise and I need more sustain in my "heavy metal" tone and I would like to have the sustain on clean tones too
Dear PGS: It would be awesome if you could possibly demo some Analogman pedals, theyre the best around and i think for the best pedal demos on the web, you guys should demo the best pedals.
@StormoRider - It's not, unless you're referring to the script logo '76 reissue Dyna Comp. The standard block logo Dyna Comp is significantly less expensive.
I play a Fender Telecaster, and i have a Vox Valvetronix. i play alot of thrash metal and i use the comp thats built into the amp on the distortion channel and it makes it sound gruntyer and heavyer. im buying a marshall jvm soon so ill need to get some pedals. which conp pedal works best with metal?
@ProGuitarShopDemos in order to adjust the attack and trim do you have to remove the back? i just dont understand how your supposed to be able to adjust it when its on the bottom. (awesome playing and great videos by the way Andy!)
@08pigeon - Yep, gotta take off the back to get to the trim pots. A screwdriver is all you need. Most people use a compressor in a "set it and forget it" fashion. It's not a pedal you would really need to tweak on stage much.
Yeah, I knew about the internal trimpots, but still, a lot of folks won't even notice/tamper with those. It's still the question which ones sounds better to me. I like the classic squish provided by the Dyna Comp, so it might be best if I just went with the '76 Script RI.
How do i set the internal settings to get the original script sound?

Is this the same circuit as the '76 reissue dyna comp aside from the true bypass/dc input and so forth?
Kind of like how the EVH Phase 90 is the same pedal (in vintage mode) as the vintage reissue phase 90

can it be used with extreme high gain to add clarity, boost attack and, most importantly, add sustain?

@emperorofthenorth5 Yes, those are all qualities of a compressor, regardless of how much gain you use. Thanks for watching,

@DemoColorScheme i played the script 76 and i seriously couldnt justify it more than the standard dyna comp which i ended up buying in the end.
