Just recently, I came up w a theory that the reason why YHWH didn't come to die for our sins is because He had both Light and Darkness in Him. Jesus was purely holy. You can't get rid of the evil if you already have some kind of evilness in you. You know? Hey, that's only a theory of mine! :-D
OH! Just to add to your verse: what about when god told Abraham to kill his only son, Isaac, just to prove that Abraham was a loyal servant of god? WTF?????? :-p
Yeah. I always considered the Old Testament as the biblical Dark Age.
I understand how creepy or freaky it seems about Abraham's son. However, remember that YHWH was NOT going to let him kill his son - even though the test looked too cruel. That time, Jesus hadn't died for our sins so the sin in this world was way more evil back then. That's probably why YHWH was very watchful and wrathful in the ol' days.

Yeah... To my understanding, it's like this -YHWH does evil upon the evil that he created (Satan) so therefore the evil originated from YHWH. It's like a Light evil versus Dark evil.

Jesus even were angry himself. Doesn't make him evil.
You are correct that God's not all loving... As mentioned in numerous time in the bible, He does wrath against the evil many time.
