  • Replacing an old fridge is also a good way to reduce energy use. Even fridges made 10 years ago use a LOT more energy than the ones today, and unlike some washers which reduce energy usage by reducing the number of rinses (front loaders are good, but SOME in the normal cycle only rinse ONCE, which is sort of like rinsing your hair after a shapoo ONCE in a bucket of water), a fridge that "savesenergy" by simply not cooling the food will be noticed rather quickly.
