It's interesting to hear your different opinions and to compare it to mine. I really had to get the hell out of dodge so I'm ecstatic I did college in south-east VA and I'm planning on moving to California soon after I graduate.
I can see what you mean about the stress thing, it was an interesting experience.
Distance relationships are annoying, it's not that I don't value other people I knew, it's more abut how different I am now to how I once was.
Wow I am exactly the same. I really tend to live in the present and I suck at maintaining long-term, long distance friendships. I also have a hard time relating to people who are constantly saying they want to go back to some other place or time. The few times I feel nostalgia it's more related to family members than times or places or things.
One time I had to drive around the DC beltway and Harrisburg, PA twice in one day. I had to pick up a trailer in Thornburg, VA. I must have gone around Baltimore too. That was a long day. I never liked driving in the east.
i have the same problem of being a bad friend! One of my new year resolutions was to call my long distance friends at least once a month. I've already failed for january, but i'll take this as a hint to try harder.
I can't sympathize with you very much; I'm horrible with nostalgia. Remember that time when I began typing this comment? That time was so much better than this time....
I have a problem keeping up with old friends too, those who went to other places for college but we once were really close. I've been trying harder recently but it's so difficult!
Northern Virginia for me is an escape. It's a place where I go for a relaxing vacation. Two of my dearest college buddies live there now. I'm single and my love for travel has allowed me to visit them almost every year. It's a place where I can go away and still call home. I've been to DC & northern Virgina so many times, it's a home away from home.

Where did you go to university? It must have been far away from your family if they don't know you as an adult :/

I live in northern Virginia and I can't say I hate it. It's really awesome being so close to D.C.
