  • how to recharge the battery?

  • @icarotechnich Well, you have to give it good night's sleep in a comfy bed under a warm blanket. Although I heard some people stick a transformer into it.

  • + gear box

  • how much did that cost?? when i saw it was over 50euro

  • Does the 8878 come with a 8887? Thanks.

  • Yes, it will work with IR Recievers and more, because... It is 4 metal things on the top. 2 of them is full power, and 2 is the speed control.

  • Is the bigger one older?

  • battery pack can be used when attached to power supply or the recharge process stop the battery out?

  • @mendez1983 The battery can be used while being recharged.

  • @searme the power supply is 10volt, but the output voltage remain 7.4 when attached?

  • What effect would a lower current have on a pf model?

  • lith ion polymer are the most dangerous batteries

  • lol there can blow up if over charged

  • Wow dude thanks I was wondering whether or not it's worth to get it, but you provided ALL the info I needed! :) I hate dealing with getting new batteries all the time...

  • its 50 bucks lol not 75 nor 100

  • does this box include in any set? its so expensive..

  • does this box include in any set? its so expensive 70 bucks for a batterybox lol.. id rather buy a set for 110 bucks with this box included.

  • 4x5x8? the lego website says 4x8x4 is it a bit taller than they say?

  • Does the charger works in sweden?

  • not woth 60-70 bucks

  • How long would it last, for argument's sake, in an RC car with an M-Motor for steering and an XL-Motor for drive before recharging?

  • will the rechargable battery work with a speed control remote? what i want to use it for i cant go and grab the battery box every time i want to change the speed.

  • @wazzupwazz Of course it will work. These are parts of the same system, why wouldn't they work together?

  • but what happens if i connect it to power functions lights can i change the power of the light

  • @japsujipsu Yes.

  • i have them all :X

  • i LOVE the recharge batteries, they're way smaller!!

  • would the transformer work in canada or the us?

  • The one I have is actually the US version.

  • @searme ok thanks i just wanted to be sure

  • It is also useful that you can use an IR reciever aswell and still use the speed control dial without it affecting the IR channels.

  • It is interesting that, with the move to Technic, they decided to make a studded battery box, especially as the motors (except the M-Motor, partly) are Technic (i.e. non-studded) and the 6AA box, also, is non-studded.

    Just an interesting observation,

    SciGuy16

  • the new battery box is mostly designed for trains, so it needs studs.

  • A 9v disposable battery is no match for 7.2V NIMH. You will not have a sustained 9V with the disposable battery, actually it will probably be less than 7.2V.

  • But if you choose to use regular batteries in the old pf batterybox, ore the old small 9V(singlebattery)batterybox, you got 9 volts not 7,2. Have you tested the powerdifference in 9volts VS 7,4volts? I think the new 7,4volt batterybox will make a car/biped faster/more powerful than 9volts in the "old" pf box because of the weight, but when it comes to power, I think it will loose to the old light and small 9v box, Part 4760c01(that I use in some of my bipeds) But I am not shore.

  • Not quite true. You will get 9V from the old battery box ONLY if you put there standard disposable batteries. If you use rechargeable AA batteries, as most regular builders probably do, you get 7.2 V which is slightly less than the 8878 provides.

  • Yes I understand, by saying regular batteries I off course ment standard disposable batteries. I only use standard batteries in my constructions to get the maximum power. But I am curious about how big the difference is between 7,4 and 9 volts when it comes to power. In any case I must get me a 8878, looks lika a handy box.

  • There is no difference in torque, only in speed. Considering that the output of the standard batteries degrades as they are being used, I suppose it's not as nig as it may seem.

  • please, i need help, does the rechargeable battery come with the transformer or must you buy it separate?

  • It's separate. That's why they have different set numbers.

  • why cant i get the 8879 speed control remote anymore from lego?

i saw it on the lego shop for a week now i cant find it anywhere?

  • i believe there was a recall of them.

  • why?

  • some of them heated up when batteries were inserted. :/

  • they recalled them because they overheat.

  • you mean the remote control that has speed control? the one he uses with his lego's? aww man, i wanted one of those when and if i made up my mind about buying an NXT and some PF's. jeez, that makes me rethink everything i planned to do, it all depended on having speed control.

  • Now it's available for sale again.

  • would it be dangerous to like add more voltage so the motors would have more power?

  • Yes, it probably would be.

  • ok ty

  • I'm glad someone has gathered all this information into one place - Thanks!

  • I really like this new battery box but its kinda pricie. I ove how it has a build in speed control. So how many motors con you run at once on it????

  • It will give similar power to the original PF battery box - so four M motors or two XL motors.

  • Nice review, And indeed, what is the song?

  • Manson's "Seizure Of Power".

  • Thanks

  • what's the song? sounds good :D

    btw nice review

  • Thanks for the review :)

  • with theese you can make things EVEN better than you do now!
