Looking at four matching faces is just as odd as looking at DNA to an uninformed onlooker -
If someone from another planet was asked to figure

ID does not equate to religion, although it does have powerful metaphysical implications. ID implies a GOD who is GOD, i.e. multi-dimensional intelligence way beyond you and I.
@gregrutz design implies designer. Intelligent design implies intelligent designer. Many different highly complex designs implies a group of highly intelligent designers or one highly complex unimitable desiger.
@gregrutz why not? God's wisdom is infinite. He takes pleasure from his creation just like humans do. remember we were created in his image, not the other way around.

@prettyemofreak You're a moron. Just because you're too stupid to understand basic biological concepts does not mean that anyone hates themselves. @gregrutz No apparently its not because Liberals invoke his name any time evolution is brought up as fact. Darwinism, Evolution, and all his findings have no basis in fact.
Theories-A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. Theories are very well proven and are just as apt as scientific laws
Evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts do not go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's. And humans evolved from ape-like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered
It's really sad that people can put out a video like this, superficially appearing to the to be as legitimate as other documentaries while spouting unscientific nonsense.
In any case, debates about science are not resolved through polling the common man. They're resolved in the world of academic peer review, and videos like this are insignificant in the real world of science.
It just sucks that this sort of thing is what ends up having all the power, political and otherwise.
Where did it all come from? - Simple chemicals and structures interacting because they had no choice but to do so. Presence of water and energy. But we do not know for sure.
What was the cause? - Same as first question.
How can anything just exist? - All things can ONLY just exist.
Why are we here? - No reason at all. The fact that it makes you uncomfortable that the universe was not designed with you in mind does not in any way imply design.
Listen, I do not wish to offend you, but I suspect I will no matter what I say.
You ask for a "naturalistic view". I take that to include atheistic, even anti-theistic. Let me tell you that any answers proposed that include intention, intelligence or a creator are even further being answers. In fact, they are non-answers, as they ask you, as a premise, to suspend disbelief for something for which there is NO evidence AT ALL. None. To posit a sky-god for things you wish answers has no sense.
So we can say - and I'm sure any thinking person will agree - that you have no better answers than I do. So from the beginning there is no challenge. I may not be the most articulate or well-informed when comes to your "naturalistic" reasons ('reason' being the operative word), but I do know enough to see that this documentary is deceptive and that the burden of proof lies on YOUR side of the argument, not mine. I do not ask you to take a leap of faith (enslave yourself).
I suspect I know what you're thinking; that I 'just don't get it', that if I had faith I would accept a creator, that if I 'opened my heart' it would make sense, these questions would be answered, it would be clear. Am I wrong?
No. What an insane trope. All that would mean is that I would no longer be thinking for myself. It would not mean answers, but simply burying them, not addressing them. I may feel better (I doubt it), but I would still have no answers. Just a god instead of a question.
Forgive me, but I continue... But that 'better' feeling, that reassurance, gained from god, is quite telling really. To feel better is not to know better, or even to believe better. That jolt of satisfaction, or perhaps superiority or privilege (maybe not you - I don't know you), religious people often gain from being able to say "well, I just know", or "I simply have faith and it is therefore clear to me", is not a good one. It is an opiate, a drug, an escape. It is UNDIGNIFIED.
When I say undignified I mean it is not noble. There is no dignity in believing something only because you have been told to. There is no dignity in applying fairy-tales to a domain in which they do not belong. There is no dignity in the drive some people feel to be enslaved, to have their thinking done for them, to praise unconditionally. To struggle with faith is not noble, as religious leaders often say - it is your natural instincts telling you to break free.
I'm sorry about the crude comparison, and I know I'm getting a little off the topic, but it is this human willingness to be enslaved, to take a leap of faith and just trust something that flies in the face of reason, that allows places like North Korea to exist, terrorists to commit suicide to take others, Germany to rally around Hitler, etc. All of this comes from a religious impulse. And don't say it's because they lost God - it's because they were LOOKING FOR GOD. The craving is the problem.
Religion caused Germany to rally around Hitler? Youths in Germany had been implanted with notions and ideas that religion in general was a scam around 1914. They were given anti-semitic propaganda along with Nietzsche's literature. They were brainwashed. You are wrong to believe that it is human willingness to be enslaved. It is human pride that brings slavery. Pride in the power of one man to rule over another and at the same time, it is pride that enslaves one to themselves.
Now to your questions. You say I did not answer them because you will only accept one (irrational) answer.
Where did it ALL come from? So we are not talking about life in the context of this documentary? Physicists and cosmologists are working on this all the time. An expanding and accelerating (this is measurable) universe that started as an extremely dense point of energy and matter. The Big Bang, or a variation, is widely accepted by those who observe and study the universe.
This, if you adopt a reasonable position, is the same as the first question. It is only a separate question if you assume a creator, in which case it is simply a variation of the last question 'why?'.
Now, as I have made clear (I hope), assumption is the problem.
People need to stop sounding so defensive about evolution. They need a great faith too to believe that life just came into existence and that all complexities are accounted for by chance because that chance is unbelievably small.
You guys need a much bigger faith to believe in connections that you haven't seen yourself either.
great vids! evolutionists are idiots! i heard one say on tv the other day how the blue whale once walked on land, then decided to live in the sea! of course he did!
This video series is so wonderfully educated. The arguments Evolutionists make to say that the flagellum motor existed in a simpler form doesn't hold water, and this proves it. Evolutionism IS a faith with much less evidence than Creationism!
it is unfortunate that this series stops at the cellular level. They still left the question of origin out there. Just as it was the religious community (namely Christian) that beheaded the "round-earth" notion and the "satellite-to-solar orbits," there is still much to learn. Believe me (or not), but the cellular level of DNA and its 'instructive' patterns is not the end of the discussion. What/who/how was/is DNA instructed from?
Instructed from the designer.........duh. Just like the computer and all of its components that were designed by its designer. DNA, the information for it and all the parts and components were designed by it's designer.
The evidence is simply life itself. Life and the components that make it up are the evidence of a designer. It's as simple as that. Some folks just do not want to hear or even see the truth, no matter what the evidence may reveal. It's okay, I have a good understanding of why some people do not want to accept truth.

when it comes to viewing this video, the argument on whether someone should believe in God's existence is red herring.
We take this video at face value--life existed by design.
Now if a theist chooses to merge this FACT with their worldview, that is their right.
If one is uncomfortable with a theistic worldview, they are free to go on with their belief.

TheSamueljm 2 years ago
Forgive me, but I continue... But that 'better' feeling, that reassurance, gained from god, is quite telling really. To feel better is not to know better, or even to believe better. That jolt of satisfaction, or perhaps superiority or privilege (maybe not you - I don't know you), religious people often gain from being able to say "well, I just know", or "I simply have faith and it is therefore clear to me", is not a good one. It is an opiate, a drug, an escape. It is UNDIGNIFIED.
TheSamueljm 2 years ago
When I say undignified I mean it is not noble. There is no dignity in believing something only because you have been told to. There is no dignity in applying fairy-tales to a domain in which they do not belong. There is no dignity in the drive some people feel to be enslaved, to have their thinking done for them, to praise unconditionally. To struggle with faith is not noble, as religious leaders often say - it is your natural instincts telling you to break free.
TheSamueljm 2 years ago
I'm sorry about the crude comparison, and I know I'm getting a little off the topic, but it is this human willingness to be enslaved, to take a leap of faith and just trust something that flies in the face of reason, that allows places like North Korea to exist, terrorists to commit suicide to take others, Germany to rally around Hitler, etc. All of this comes from a religious impulse. And don't say it's because they lost God - it's because they were LOOKING FOR GOD. The craving is the problem.
TheSamueljm 2 years ago
Religion caused Germany to rally around Hitler? Youths in Germany had been implanted with notions and ideas that religion in general was a scam around 1914. They were given anti-semitic propaganda along with Nietzsche's literature. They were brainwashed. You are wrong to believe that it is human willingness to be enslaved. It is human pride that brings slavery. Pride in the power of one man to rule over another and at the same time, it is pride that enslaves one to themselves.

funny that you should talk about 'brainwashed' on a site where most of the people watching ARE brainwashed.

TheSamueljm 2 years ago
What was the cause (of physical matter to exist)?
This, if you adopt a reasonable position, is the same as the first question. It is only a separate question if you assume a creator, in which case it is simply a variation of the last question 'why?'.
Now, as I have made clear (I hope), assumption is the problem.

If the scientific evidence points to design. Then let's call a spade a spade.
The cowardice it seems, are with those that fear the implications of design and want to deny and suppress such evidence.

evidence?

People need to stop sounding so defensive about evolution. They need a great faith too to believe that life just came into existence and that all complexities are accounted for by chance because that chance is unbelievably small.
You guys need a much bigger faith to believe in connections that you haven't seen yourself either.

great vids! evolutionists are idiots! i heard one say on tv the other day how the blue whale once walked on land, then decided to live in the sea! of course he did!
oldskooldancemusic1 2 years ago
If you think god did it, isn't it cowardice not to say so? Don't pretend it is a scientific theory.

Time well spent.

What/who/how was/is DNA instructed from?
jwiderstra 2 years ago
Instructed from the designer.........duh. Just like the computer and all of its components that were designed by its designer. DNA, the information for it and all the parts and components were designed by it's designer.
smallen08a 2 years ago
Why don't you just say God?
because you are trying to get religion into schools.
gregrutz 2 years ago
The evidence is simply life itself. Life and the components that make it up are the evidence of a designer. It's as simple as that. Some folks just do not want to hear or even see the truth, no matter what the evidence may reveal. It's okay, I have a good understanding of why some people do not want to accept truth.

The fact that we are classified as apes proves.........??
gregrutz 2 years ago
They have a problem, they are not scientists.
gregrutz 2 years ago
Says you? These are doctoral level biologists, chemists, philosphers etc...
Is this fact? No
Are there other scientists who will refute this? Yes
Is this a theory just like Macro Evolution? Yes.
MattJRuck 2 years ago
It is not like Evolution, there is evidence proving evolution happened. This is religion, no evidence. Just an argument trying to prove god exists.
ID = Creationism = bible story not theory
gregrutz 2 years ago
theory not fact xD
hiriLoves 2 years ago
Fact, evolution happened, there is a theory that explains How it happened.
DNA produces 'new infromation'
Darwin proved variation exists even though he didn't know about mutations.
